Nonsense

Thought up as an idea to allow tourists to see more of the natural beauty of the location the nature walk is a long dirt path that winds its way through the part of the bay area that is more heavily dense with trees. In places the trees and shrubs shroud the path in shadow and other times they thin out to allow sun to shine onto the path and give tourists an opportunity to take a beautiful landscape photo or group shot.

Nonsense

((Naomi Skye continued from Better To Be Alone Than With Bad Company))

Naomi had frozen back there, and now she was all alone.

At least now she knew for certain that Vincent was in the resort, after what Vahka had said to her. That, and that Vincent had made some kind of pact or promise for her.

So now, she had to do something. Whatever Vincent did, it wasn't going to solve all her problems. Naomi could manage by her lonesome. She was tough. But she had no idea what to do. The time for mindlessly wandering was over. So... she would find him.

The situation she was in was larger then she could have imagined... not to mention the arena. She moved throughout the resort for hours, until her voice was hoarse and her knees were weak. She just wanted to know he was okay, know he was safe, make sure he hadn't done anything stupid for her sake.

She didn't stop, not even for rest overnight. She had found some kind of purpose, even if it was just looking for some boy. Some boy she loved. It was dumb. That's what everyone said, that it was just puppy love. It was real to her though, dammit, and that's what mattered. Even when she finally had to stop to catch her breath in the middle of a dirty and cold walkway, it was all that mattered to her.

She laid down by some bushes, and peering through them saw an orchard, and in that orchard a dead body missing its head, dressed in brown fatigues and leather. Naomi wanted to gag. The electronic crinkling of the announcement could distract her for a while.

"Meanwhile, Vincent Holway and Vahka Basayev were enjoying a nice and peaceful morning, fishing down by the river where things started to get steamy... as Vahka decided he had enough of Vincent and stomped on his head until it was fish paste. Don't worry, kiddo; we've all had bad dates."

Ah. So this was it. The pact Vincent made ended with him dead. Naomi did gag this time. Just across this grassy border was the boy she loved. She was exhausted now, and couldn't going to move even if she had wanted to. And then the words echoing around her continued: she was now also in a danger zone. It just kept piling on, one crazy coincidence after the next.

She closed her eyes as soon as she heard her collar beginning to beep. She wondered if this was the point where she was going to finally "get it," or come to terms with that old saying that "everything happens for a reason." Damned if she knew what that reason could possibly be.

Naomi did try to coax something out of all of the muck in her mind. Vincent had almost seemed scared at times when she had reminded him that they were in a genuine relationship. It was like he was scared to tell her something. It had felt one-sided, no matter what he said or did, but she couldn't remember complaining.

But this... after he did this, went through this, for her... He'd loved her. Maybe it wasn't the way she'd loved him, but it was love, and she was happy like this. Crying, smiling, she was okay now. Her collar was beeping faster and faster now, but it was all fading away. In a sick kind of way, they could be together like this, headless.

Yeah. This would be fine. Naomi relaxed and settled, embracing her fate. The cameras picked up her final moments, as the color in her face became flushed and the beeps reached their maximum speed... just to slow down again and vanish in a long drown out beep. Thanks to dehydration, Naomi got to keep that smile on her face.
