Träumerei

Open! Evening of Day 2.

This industrial behemoth winds from the mines down to the warehouse at the docks. At one time, minerals would be dumped onto the belt and transported below to a holding area at the port for processing and eventually offloading onto a ship. The rubber of the belt remains intact in most places without much fraying or snapping. The installation follows the topography, at times climbing at a steep gradient and at times virtually flat for hundreds of feet.

A number of skinny, precarious step ladders are built into the belt at regular intervals, none of which have anything approaching the shape of a guard rail, and are the primary means of entry. The catwalks are in poor condition, and there is little to stop someone from falling if they lose their step on the icy, rusted metal.

The conveyor belt made for a adequate eating spot. Climbing it had been rough, but that meant that anyone trying to follow would have the same issues. If they even managed to spot him up here in the first place.

((Arthur "Art" Miles continued from Nightcrawlers))

For the rest of the night and a good portion of the day, Art hadn't encountered a single soul. He was fine with that, since it allowed him to safely look around the perimeters of the town. But the town held only so much. After resting for half a night, it drove him further south.

For a good hunt, knowing the perimeter was an important key factor. It was best he familiarized himself with every location on the map. So far, most things had been within his expectations. One spot was especially promising to trap the Chimera, but he would need to gather more resources to make it work.

The first announcement had been mostly unsurprising. Of course there was one fool who shot herself and of course some women couldn't keep their emotions in check in a survival situation. Oh, and of course the prototypes had killed.

What peeved Art was that they had mentioned his name. Back at the briefing, Sycamore had only talked about telling them who died, not who killed. In the end it mattered little. Even with the knowledge that his action would be broadcasted, Art would have pulled the trigger regardless. But back at the armory, he would have made more of an effort to socialize in order to make use of the time before everyone found out.

Well, now they all found out, so this ship had sunken.

A view to his right told him that his MRE was fullfilling its name, so he scooped it up and begun to eat.

Mediocre.

After around two minutes, Art finished his meal. As usual, he tossed the empty MRE into the snow.

The weather was getting worse. Art was unfamiliar to the island, but his experience from hunting in the woods told him that tomorrow wouldn't be a good day to spend outside.

At least the view from the belt was pretty nice.

But even the view could keep him enthralled for just so long.

Eventually, Art moved onward on his journey.
