Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water

Carl knew the tricks of the trade with the gun he had. So much information over one gun. Chevy knew how to handle a gun. It was an old gun that was used by the Ruskies, but had enough firepower if the bullets are big. Carl was the type to make sure his two cadets in training got the memo. Chevy wondered if Carl was another professor who happened to be on the trip, but he knew that students tended to be all ages, regardless.

After getting it all down with the infomation on the TT33, Chevy glanced outside. It looked like it was going to get dark. No sign of anything from what Chevy saw, but that polar bear wasn't going to find them in here.

"I think we should have dinner." Chevy offered to Reinette and Carl. He was already digging into his bag to get the pepperoni pizza MRE. God he needed something that was like pizza. Even if it was going to taste like shit, he needed something that resembled food.

He was busy reading the instructions on how to prepare his meal. He can use some of the water he had in the bottles to get the MRE cooking.

"You know, I heard stories about MREs. About how bad they are supposed to taste, but they shouldn't be bad for meals. You can eat a TV dinner from the 99 cent store and it might be this quality." Chevy wanted to lighten the mood. He had two allies and one of them was more of a leader than he had the chance to be. He started to tell the story of the student in his Peace and Conflict class who did a project on the MREs.

(Chevy would reside until nightfall...)

After training, Chevy mentioned it was getting pretty late. Sure enough it was already dark out, and that meant two things, food and sleep. That sounded fine to Carl, the crew could get some rest, then head out in the morning and try to plant their flyers around the island. As much as he hated the good doctor, he planned on hearing what he had to say in the morning, at least to assess the damage done and who and what to look out for.

Still, you couldn’t be too careful. Best thing to do was set up a firewatch so they all didn’t die in their sleep. Carl offered to take the first four hours and to give Chevy and Reinette two hours each, before he took the final two. That way they’d at least get 6 hours, and Carl knew himself well enough he could last on four.

Onto the MREs. They’re not that bad. The cheese tortellini one was good. Basically just chef boyardee in a bag. Came with peanuts, trail mix, crackers, Nutella, and a Gatorade powder mix for his water bottle. You could do with worse. Chevy mentioned the MREs and their supposedly bad taste.

“They’re not bad, actually pretty good. It just sucks when you have to eat them for weeks straight. Only thing to remember is those napkins aren’t napkins. They’re your toilet paper, unless you found some rolls at the village.”

((Carl opened his bag and dug in.))

In Darwin's Theory, there were two types of food: bread and crackers.

Here, there was a variety. She had vegan sausage rolls. Which she wasn't sure if MREs were vegan in the first place, honestly. She wasn't someone that would go out of her way to look at them. She sighed. Night was falling, but it was still light out. It was a thing of this cold world she was forced to fight in. The darkness would maybe never come for Reinette.
