Meet Cute

Phase 1 (0-12 Hours), Private

The First Missionary Church, located at the center of town, is the oldest and largest building in Cabeza del Dragón, originally constructed by Spanish missionaries who first settled the area. The church has since gone through numerous renovations, although much of its original architecture has been preserved. The main doors open directly into a high-ceilinged interior area, primarily filled with two columns of pews. There are six stained glass windows flanking the pews three to a side, with a seventh larger window depicting the crucifixion of Christ located behind a fancifully-carved pulpit and above an ancient organ that despite the outward appearance of its old pipes is still capable of producing some bars. Through a door situated behind the main pulpit and alongside the organ is the priests' quarters, which is made up of a small combined kitchen and living area, study, and bedroom. There are many books lining the shelves of a bookcase, but there are gaps and disturbed dust where some texts have been removed.

Rodney helped Roz up. He felt somewhat awkward touching hands with a cute girl. If it seriously took him to be drafted for The Program to actually make physical contact with a girl, he was slightly annoyed. That didn't mean he didn't enjoy this, and he let go once she was back up.

"Okay...we can check..." Rodney said.

Rodney walked to the door and saw it led to a private quarters. Maybe it belonged to the priest.

"Hey, it's a home..." Rodney told Roz. "Um...if you want...you can clean up first. I can keep watch."

Roz agreed and made her way in. Rodney shut the door and leaned his back against it, keeping his gaze on the main church doors. He really hoped Roz would be okay in there. This was his first ally who wouldn't leave immediately after they allied. If all went well, they'd be able to make it through the worst of the game together. Rodney had to be tough to help her, especially if her leg injury would harm her. He had to be her hero.

The thought made him somewhat nervous, and he felt unable to resist covering his mouth and giggling to himself.

The water splashed and pooled. The sink was becoming red and redder from the blood she had shed. Her hands were back to her normal color and so was her face. The dried, caked blood was mainly gone. Some scabs here and there were still stuck to her body but she felt much cleaner.

He kept guard. Rod, that is. He didn't look at her really. Cleaned up, Rod and her exited the church. She was limping, her leg hurt. It was less the pain but more the injury that slowed her down, she was afraid to open it and bleed again. She decided to use Rod as a walking cane, using his hand and shoulder to help her keep up.

She liked it but at the same time she hated it. Depending on someone she didn't really know, living on the kindness of a stranger. It worked fine, in a way. She wasn't dying anymore but she still hated it. She was confused about her feelings, her life, her struggle. She decided to lock away her pride until it would end. Like that, it wouldn't get in the way of her survival. If she had to stay with a boy she barely knew and act like a damsel in distress to survive, that's what she was going to do.
