When Ashanti pulled the trigger, Chris finally stopped moving in slow-motion.

While everyone had been alternating between the hostage situation and the ongoing pissing contest, Chris had slowly moved away from Anthony and the kitchen. And Mary, but he had seen no way of signalling her to follow without alarming at least one of the many psychos in the room.

Now he stood next to some of the few tables that were still intact. A short sprint would bring him behind them in cover, and then...

Fisk started spraying his bullets everywhere, a good number of them missing Chris only by a few centimeters. More importantly, he saw some bullets hit straight through what he had believed to be a good hiding place.

Keeping his head down, he started running. When Verity entered the room, he had noticed her missing an eye, so her vision had to be halved. This was his opportunity to make a half-circle and attack from a direction they might not expect him to be at.

As fate would have it, he actually managed to not get shot by anyone. Now with the large window that gave everyone a good view at the pool in his back, he finally unlocked his - Amanda's - machine gun.

Remembering a bunch of action-movies, Chris ignored what they had taught him. No time for cheesy one-liners.

When he pulled the trigger, his aim was directed at the jetpack that lay right next to Ashanti on the ground.

A miss. On all three counts.

Mandy didn’t get back up. Verity didn’t hit Ashanti. The bullets didn’t even hit anybody on their way upward, diagonally, into the ceiling. She kinda just… stood there, for a second, even as everything erupted to chaos around her. Watched Ashanti move forward, arms in the air, not a care about what would happen next.

Verity knew what that meant. Verity knew what Ashanti wanted.

And Verity — raising the gun, finally adjusting for the fact she only had one eye — was fully willing to give it to her.

Nobody watching was able to tell which bullet was the one that hit the jetpack that caused it to explode, at least not immediately. It might have been a combination, and there would have been many people scrambling to figure out angles and timing, if not for the fact that this was not the end of the scene. It was the end for her, but who was watching for her, anyway? Her family? Her friends? They must have been disappointed that this was the best she could do.

Three people shot at BC07, all of them aiming for a different thing. Her face had scrunched up as several bullets hit her upper body, but the murderer of Seo-yun's travelling companion didn't even have time to fall to the ground before the fireball consumed everything around it, including her and everything she held.

Every camera within close enough proximity was knocked out of immediate commission, and even some close by were moved askew.

There were eight other people in that banquet hall when the jetpack by Ashanti Baker's feet exploded, killing her immediately. If you want to find out what happened to them, well-
