There was a painful spasm going through her body. Her legs were effectively gone. She expected it to hurt a lot more. She felt numb. Her body was shaking like at the start of a bitter Winter. The wind- no, the world- was entering and leaving her body at the same time.

The perk of getting shot with a grenade launcher straight in the chest was the instant numbness. There was pain, but it was overtaken by a gray shroud. If she could see, she would notice the picture she hid under the bed, deep behind a pile of clothes, were safe. They would probably be stinged, but effectively safe.

She realized she was on the ground when she stopped feeling her body. Her body was a mangled mess, both from a subjective and objective basis. Objectively, the sharpnel did its job to sever and break the body of the target. Subjectively, she looked like what would happen if you microwaved a hamster.

She felt her thoughts becoming more and more quiet. The ringing in her ears was gone. She read somewhere that hearing was the last thing to leave the body before death. She felt like she needed to point them wrong. The last thing to leave Fleurette’s body was a smile.
