He could almost feel his heart pumping. He knew that people were dying out there, and even though he was attacked by Niida earlier on, this was just beyond anything he'd experienced. Earlier on, he hadn't quite grasped the reality of what was happening. Now he had, and he was essentially staring down the barrel of a gun.

He didn't even realize what he was in for.

He held his breath, hearing a few more gunshots, seeming aimed away from them, watching as the bullets lodged themselves in nearby trees and bushes, watching leaves and bark erupt in clouds of dust as the hot lead sank through them.

That could be Noriko. Or Chigusa.

He sat intently, recoiling at the urgency and harshness in Chisuga's words. They had just met back up, why couldn't they all run together? Or at least fight together? I mean, two of them had a Gun, and he would have been happy to fight in Noriko's stead... He was just in too much shock to say anything. The entire exchange between his two companions just depressed him more and more. How could Noriko just let her leave like that? How could she just give up?

Who was he to even think like that though? Wasn't he just sitting here on his ass, watching his only friends left just run off in different directions without a single word of protest? How could he be so week, yet sit here and judge them?

"Chigusa..." He mouthed weakly, watching her run off. And they were alone again. And he didn't want to bother waiting to see what Yoshimi would do. But he couldn't make his legs move. The distinct sound of gunshots rang out all around them, and he heard hurried footsteps. "I think the... the plan worked..." Suddenly, his traitorous voice returned to his throat, finally allowing him to speak now that it was too fucking late. Somehow he felt like he'd never see Chigusa again. Optimism was critical though; If anything, for Noriko's sake.

"I'm sure she'll be fine." His voice was wavering, but he hoped that in the stead of what had just happened, she would write it off as just adrenaline. Or something else, whatever. He couldn't show fear.

As much as he himself wanted to stay with Chigusa, Yoshimi was probably over there too. And that would mean putting Noriko in danger. He had no option. "We need to move." He sat for a moment, before hastily adding "Chigusa would be pissed if we didn't." He took her hand, and tugged in the direction directly opposite their friend. "We need to run." Everything he said was in true uncertainty, but he had no option. Run after Chigusa; die. Run away from Chigusa; live.

Noriko watched as Takako ran off, wondering if they had made the right choice by splitting up. The unrelenting gunfire didn't do much to help with her confidence, but at least she knew they would be safe soon, if Takako's plan went off as it was supposed to. She also wondered briefly if she would ever see her new friend again, but something deep in her heart told her that that fleeting glimpse of the star track runner Noriko saw would be the last she would see of her.

Turning her head towards Yoshitoki, who said Takako would be fine, Noriko responded with a nod. "She's a tough girl. I wish I'd taken the time to get to know her before. Chig-Takako is a good person." using the girl's first name, especially not in her presence, felt slightly off to Noriko, but she felt that in the last 24 or so hours that she had gotten to know the girl more than she had anyone else she had met in her life. Whatever lay ahead for the duo, she was glad she had made such an amazing friend.

"Right..." was all Noriko said in response to Nobu's urging them to move. For the briefest moment, Noriko wanted to resist and run in the direction Takako had headed, but she knew that the other girl wouldn't want that. If destiny said they would meet again, then they would meet. For now, she simply had to make sure that Takako's distraction wasn't for nothing, and went along with Yoshitoki, running as fast as her fatigued body could muster.

Dammit!

Maybe she'd given them a little too much warning. Or rather, maybe telling them to just give up and let themselves get shot had been a bad idea. The uzi was a hard gun to handle at the best of times, and with her targets running every which way, Yoshimi hadn't had a hope in hell of actually hitting anything.

Too fast, too damn fast. Dammit!

Before too long, Yoshimi stood alone, the gun still clenched in her hands, aimed at nothing in particular. She sighed. It didn't matter. She'd driven them off and hopefully scattered the group. She'd be safe soon, it wouldn't be long now. Nobody could hurt her with such a safeguard as this weapon, nobody...

"I don't have to be scared any more," Yoshimi murmured, wandering out of the grove, no destination in mind.
