It's a Gap!

Splitting the cliffs and complicating the approach to the lighthouse from the northern side of the island is the ravine, which cuts into the island, a deep valley with ocean at its bottom, especially during high tide. A large rope-bridge swings dangerously across the middle of the valley on that lighthouse path, though it has been worn and neglected over the years.

Hold on wasn't that the lighthouse up ahead?

Like it was a ways in the distance but Keiji was pretty sure it was the place he'd thought about visiting and then not-visited on account of bang bang pew pew. He regretted nothing of that decision, even if he'd since had the thought that perhaps it was a fake gunshot or something.

Though, whoever had run by screaming and firing probably wasn't an audio trick so uh...

He still liked the trick by the bad guys theory. He was gonna stick with that one.

Keiji squinted at the lighthouse and then had another look at the map. If he held it right he could sort of fold the hole in it back together to the point where he could basically see what it was trying to show him. He'd already been past some of the places marked on there, like the tar pits, so he was going... south, right? Looked like south. Especially if that was the lighthouse over there, which meant that he was closing in on the—

Keiji's feet skidded out from underneath him as the ground he was on suddenly was not ground any more.

"Fricksticks!" he yelped as he landed on his ass and then for a terrifying instant, slid.

Keiji slammed both his hands down so hard that the impact jerked all the way up his arms.

OW GRAVEL.

But he did stop.

—ravine.

Keiji let out a breath. Ahead of him was little more than empty space and a long drop down.

He was ... he was just gonna... sit here... for a sec.

((Keiji continued elsewhere. In a bit))
