The Bad Bitches Club

(Day 6: PM for Permission)

In a remote section in the northwest portion of the island are several grassy hills, overlooking much of the area around them. A trail leading up a slope of one of the smaller hills leads to an isolated hillside cabin in the middle of nowhere. The area around the home is surrounded by a small wooden fence. The property contains the wooden cabin itself and a smaller outhouse. Many overgrown bushes and large trees also surround the area around the hills. The cabin appears older than most of the mining-related buildings, but is actually in somewhat better shape, having been refurbished into a foreman's dwelling and then stripped less carefully as the mining company departed.

((Saachi Nidal continued from Hoping to Catch a Break))

Saachi's rest was certainly better than the previous night's. The fact that she was in a bed with a blanket probably contributed, even if that meant that she got blood all over the blanket and mattress. She probably would've minded it before she came to the island but by this point, she'd been through so much that this was basically nothing. It was the announcements that had woken her up again, to the point where it became her equivalent of an alarm clock. It was another consistent thing that helped her ground herself in the reality of the situation.

It seemed like all the guys on the island didn't want to play the game. The announcements were dominated by the girls again, something that she had noticed during yesterday's announcements. There was no Miranda, but Bunny and Sophie stood out to her. Both were repeat killers, with the former racking up the same number of kills that she did. She didn't hear Miranda's name on the announcements, which while she was glad that it meant that she was still alive, it did leave the question of whether she was playing or not. She hoped that she wouldn't have to fight with Miranda soon.

The cabin was still a safe zone and she didn't really have much inclination to move at the moment. The bed was much more comfortable than anything else she had rested in and she could establish at least a temporary base here. Someone would probably come on up, with the limited number of safe areas there were in this game. It should only be a matter of time before a potential target would accidentally wander into the cabin and end up on the receiving end of her shotgun.

Though she was tempted to rearrange the furniture to make a stronger fortification but decided against it. If they had even the smallest bit of intelligence, they'd be able to tell something was immediately off if she messed around with the furniture too much. Instead, she decided to tuck herself behind the entryway into the kitchen, hiding around the corner and closing the entrance door. She slowed down her breathing, being as silent as possible to not give away her position. For now, she waited. It was probably going to be boring, but if she got the jump on someone, that was basically an instant kill for her.

((Miranda Millers continued from Video Game Violence))

Everything felt uncomfortable right now.

Her leg screamed with pain each step it took. All that running must have made it worse. Each movement reminded her of how she fell earlier. It felt like all the mud had been glued to her skin. Her shoes squeaked and squelched. A few times, she’d try to brush away a strand of hair, only to remember that she’d cut it, last night. Maybe it was just a nervous habit.

She was alive, though. And that was what was important.

Miranda had no idea how far she ran. She didn’t run towards anywhere in particular, just that she ran. She ran until the beeping stop. Maybe longer? At least until the beeping stopped, she could say that much.

Eventually, she looked up, and saw something.

A cabin.

It seemed vaguely familiar. Miranda searched her memories for a bit, before it hit her. On the first night, she’d been aiming to go there. But she’d stopped for a moment to eat a sandwich. Then she saw Frigid Brigid and Schwartz, and…

She didn’t need to be reminded. Her knee did that for her.

It was the last time she’d eaten anything other than what they gave them, though. She’d just realized that.

Miranda grimaced as she limped forward. She never checked out the cabin, she realized. Did they… make it a dangerzone or something before she looked? Yeah, might’ve. Well, she made it, finally, even it’d been days before she even thought of it again.

But she had to stop and think for a moment. Someone could be inside already. A warm house was… inviting. She had to be certain about what she was dealing with. If it was empty, good, it didn’t need to be cleared out. Otherwise… would she repeat seeing Sebastien and Kasumi?

She had to. It’d make their deaths pointless if she couldn’t.

Miranda walked up to the window, cupping her filthy hands across the glass for a moment. She pulled her face away, but she knocked on the window frame.

If something moved, it would tell her someone was in there. If nothing did, she’d proceed with caution.

((Bunny Barlowe continued from The Use of Common Sense is Secured))

Hey there! Did you wanna play a game? Just a quick little game, for fun? Oh, c’mon, it’ll be fun! It’s super simple, too!

You will? Yay! Thanks!~
Here’s the game! It’s called “Guess Who Had To Sleep Under A Bush Again?” You get three guesses!

Okay, technically a snail is a correct answer, but it’s not the correct answer, silly!

What was that? Bunny Barlowe?

Well, congratulations! You got it gosh darn, mother freaking, son of a binch, hecking right!

Bunny was slumped over as she slouched out of her previous night’s luxurious shrubbery hotel, almost forming a perfect right angle as she did so. This was getting ridiculous, now. She could feel the exhaustion eating away at her, like some gross termite inside of her body, gnawing at her very bones. She felt like it’d chomp away at her legs any moment now, and she’d take one step and whoops! Snap ‘em right in half! And, y’know, if that happened, she’d probably just lie there and accept it. Least then she’d get some actual fuh-REAKING rest!

The announcements had, shockingly, not alleviated her bad mood in the slightest. Not because she was on them, or anything like that, but because they made her out to be a stone-cold killer. Danya could have at least played her kill of Brigid off like it was self-defence, or something. Which it was! He could have at least thrown her a bone or something and told the truth! She had killed people. That was what they wanted, and she was looking so good doing it, too!

Bunny rubbed her eyes, feeling the bags underneath them, brushing aside several strands of flyaway hair, as she trudged onwards. You know what the cherry on top of this big dumb poopy sundae of a morning was?

The fact she’d fallen asleep in a shrub just a few teeny tiny yards away from a freaking actual cabin.

She let out a low groan of exhaustion and pain as she got closer and closer to the building, bruises and cuts feeling especially sore after a night spent rolling over onto twigs and rocks. She was absolutely certain a slug had slimed its way across her leg, as well, which was absolutely the worst experience of her life so far. Gosh she was looking forward to this. She’d find a small room with a nice, soft, fluffy bed, barricade the door up high with every heavy thing she could find, and then zonk the heck out for a blissful few hours. Man, that sounded so good she could just about cry. Just a few steps more and-

Oh. Oh no. Oh noooooooo that wasn’t fair.

There was, of course, another person here. Another person who…. Actually, Bunny really didn’t recognise them from the back. Like, at all. That was more than a little odd. Bunny could identify pretty much everyone at school from the back of their heads. Even the teachers! Which was super impressive when she recognised one bald head from another!

Whoever it was in front of her had their face pressed against one of the windows. Bunny sighed, brushed more hair out of her eyes and spoke in a low, weary, yet still somehow bubbly drawl. She truly was a girl of many talents.

“Y’know, I’ve heard most people use the door to get inside…”

She was right. This was really boring. No one came around at first, but Saachi didn't want to move and accidentally risk getting spotted by someone coming at an inopportune moment. So she stubbornly stayed where she was, letting time pass as nothing happened. With how crazy her game had been up until now, having downtime was unfamiliar territory. Though she initially assumed that it would be nice to have some time to stay somewhere comfortable, she underestimated how boring it was to not be following up a plan or trying to find a way to survive in the wild. While it wasn't necessarily enjoyable to be doing those things, at least it gave her something to do to pass the time.

She found that boredom made time stretch on infinitely. How much time had she sat here, doing nothing? She might as well let her thoughts wander, though her thoughts continued to linger back on Maxwell. Was he gathering more people for his cause? Would people be up for it? She imagined at least Kyran would. Hopefully, those two wouldn't meet up. Or fucking Chuck. She bet that he wouldn't hesitate to kill her with his justice boner. Would Felicia and Yumi be up fo-

What was that sound?

Saachi involuntary jumped at the sudden sound, too deep in her own thoughts to immediately pinpoint where the sound was coming from. Should she follow the sound? For a second, she was tempted to just stay hidden and wait to see what would happen. But she'd been sitting there for what felt like ages now. At least if she followed the sound, there'd be a chance of interacting with someone else. To quash this overwhelming boredom that had taken her for what seemed like forever. Tentative at first, she peered around the corner to try and find out if it was a person who was making the noise.

First came the excitement and relief, then followed the anxiousness and looming dread. It was Miranda. She couldn't stop a smile spreading across her face when she first saw one of her closest friends. She was alive, this was good.

When did she get her hair cut? Admittedly, Saachi liked her long hair, but if this was something she decided to do, then she wasn't going to complain.

Would she be happy to see her? Saachi was the person with the most kills to her knowledge. Was Miranda playing too? She only heard her name once on the announcements, so she had no way to determine whether it was an accidental kill or one with intent. If she was playing, maybe their kinship over their decision to play would make things easier. Then again, even if she was a player, it would be reasonable to assume that she wouldn't want to encounter a player like Saachi, even if they were close friends. Plus in the end, one of them would have to die if the other wanted to live. That was not something she really wanted to linger on.

She wasn't going to attack Miranda. The other kids were people Saachi either didn't care about, didn't like or were doing things that would've ruined her own game. Miranda was different. She'd gone with her on shopping trips and helped her with her studies. Even if killing her was an inevitability, that wasn't something she was going to do immediately. If things went her way, she wouldn't have to worry about killing her until the end. Or maybe it'd be better if someone else killed her.

In any case, she couldn't just sit there. She needed to talk to her. Standing up, Saachi quickly headed towards the door. The shotgun bounced against her leg as she rushed towards the exit, though she stopped before she reached the door. How was she going to do this? She didn't want to come across as intimidating. That wouldn't really be a good impression to make after being stuck for 5 days on the island and racking a high kill count. Just keep the gun lowered, take a few deep breaths and give a friendly smile. After taking a few seconds to breathe and calm herself down, she opened the door.

Oh, Bunny was here too. That wasn't what she was expecting. She had to hold herself back from pointing her gun at the unexpected arrival. Unlike Miranda, Saachi knew that she was a player. She could easily be a threat, especially if she decided that she wanted to take out the top killer on the island. If she was anything like Jay, however, it would a bad idea to rile her up and get her angry. With this in mind, she forced a smile as she looked between Miranda and Bunny.

"Miranda. Bunny. It's.... nice to see you're still alive."

It was more directed at Miranda than Bunny, but she might as well try to sweeten Bunny to her. It was better to have a killer on your side than at the other end of whatever weapon they were using. Saachi tightened her grip on the shotgun to help get rid of the tension bubbling inside her. She kept her smile, however, in an attempt to come of inoffensive to the pair, even with the shotgun dangling by her side. Hopefully they were feeling social and somewhat friendly. With how things were on the island, it was always hard to tell.

Miranda stepped back from the window a moment later. Still uncertain. Someone else could have the same idea. Someone like…

Someone like Bunny.

Flinching was by now something Miranda was almost used to. Almost. She snapped her head towards the loud yawning. Okay, great. Bunny was always kind of obnoxious, too peppy, too cheerful. But more importantly? She was a killer. Multiple times, even. Miranda’s eyes flicked down towards her bag. She’d kept the gun’s butt hanging out through an unzipped hole, just in case. Without thinking, her hand landed on it, pulling it out. But, she didn’t point.

“Yeah, no shit?”

Greeeeeeat. She had to deal with her, then. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, the cabin was occupied, judging by the door opening, and-

Oh no.

Oh no.

Her heart pounded. It was one thing that Bunny, loud-mouth fellow killer that she was, was here. No, she was here too.

“Um… hey, Saachi.”

The hand on her gun involuntarily loosened.

Well. That was a surprise. Bunny didn’t even have time to try and mask the surprise on her face as Miranda turned around. It was certainly not a pleasant surprise – Miranda hadn’t liked Bunny at school, and, well, Bunny hadn’t liked the stuck-up brat either – but… wow. Gosh.

Where had all that hair gone? And why? Bunny knew that Miranda had killed someone, but was that really enough for the girl to try her hand at hairdressing? Like, look at her! She had three tally marks next to her name, and she still had her soft, bouncy locks! Never mind the twig she could feel stuck in there.

It took a good few seconds for Bunny’s mind to focus, and for her to pick her jaw up again. As much as she wanted to sit and speculate on the long and short of Miranda’s hairstyle choices, she needed to remember exactly where she was. Her eyes moved downwards to Miranda’s bag, the oh-so familiar shape of a gun being withdrawn from it. Bunny felt her left eyebrow raise, and her right index finger slide to rest against the trigger of the submachine gun. But that was it. There were no other, sudden movements, no dramatic flourishes or overreactions. They both had guns and they were both prepared to use them if the other one was.

This wasn’t Brigid pointing a spear at her the second she walked into the room.

“Just a bit of friendly advice!” Bunny said, punctuating her words with a giggle, keeping her eyes fixed on Miranda. “I know this last week musta been super rough and stuff, so-“

And then the door was opening, and Bunny quickly cut herself off, angling herself so both Miranda and the front of the house were in her field of vision, ready to swing her gun left or right, depending on which side made the more suspicious movements.

The person stepped out, and Bunny was handed another surprise.

Really, she shouldn’t have been surprised. It could have been anybody on the island in that cabin, after all. Literally anyone still alive could have stepped out of that door. Still though. It wasn’t everyday you came face to face with the top killer on the island.

Just like with Miranda, Bunny’s thoughts flashed to ‘Why?’ Why had Saachi killed all those people? There was always a reason for everything. Bunny could attest to that. She hadn’t shot Everett, or Brigid, or Sarah without thinking. There’d been a thought process and a motive behind each of them. Gosh, Bunny was just fizzing with excitement and questions to ask! And hey. It looked like she’d actually get to ask them. Because even though Saachi had a gun as well, had a mean looking shotgun in her hand, it was kept low, not aimed at anybody. It was just there. The weapon she had been dealt.

Again, this wasn’t Cody firing a shotgun at her merely for approaching him.

Bunny couldn’t help but let out a giggle before she gave her own additions to the terse exchange of greetings.

“Hello!”

Bunny lowered her gun, slowly, holding it in just one hand and letting it rest next to her right leg. She balled her other hand into a soft fist and placed it against her hip.

“Y’know, for a couple of killers, neither of you seem too eager to be killing me,” Bunny said, smiling. Not an overblown grin for the cameras, not the cold, hard smile she’d put on a few times over the last couple of days. A calm, measured, even smile.

“It’s nice! I like it. It’s a lot less psycho than hanging around with those people who hate us. Y’know, all those people who think they’re in the right with everything they do.”

She giggled again.

“Can I come in?”

Things seemed to be going well. It didn't devolve into an immediate gunfight and that was pretty much all she was asking for at the moment. Saachi attempted to parse their motives, still displaying a friendly, but muted face to the pair of girls. At this stage of the game, it was hard for her to be immediately trustful of anyone, even if they presented themselves as such. It was almost like a game within a game as she looked at Miranda and Bunny, trying to grasp what they were thinking and what their approach was going to be. She kept the gun at her side, as she reckoned it would ease the atmosphere if she didn't look like she was going to use it. If things went down the way she wanted, she wouldn't have any need to use it.

She nodded in response to Bunny's first statement. From her general demeanour, she seemed to be presenting a friendly face, though the terse smile seemed to be a strong reflection of Saachi's own. Saachi remembered that Bunny had a penchant for acting, which was definitely something she needed to take into consideration. Still, the next words came as a welcome surprise to Saachi. Though she loathed to admit it considering Bunny's annoying nature, maybe they had more in common than she thought. Or it could be the similar experiences in being known, prolific killers that seemed to have bridged their minds, so to speak.

"Sure, go ahead," Saachi responded, stepping out of the way of the door as Bunny made her way inside. As Bunny passed, she looked to Miranda. With the sudden appearance that was Bunny, she felt the need to address her first before coming to her close friend. Hopefully, she'd understand. While common sense would dictate that she should be just as guarded with her as she was with Bunny, she couldn't help herself. A warm grin escaped from her mouth and she held herself back from hugging her. It was probably inappropriate considering the situation.

"I'm glad to see you, Miranda."

That was all she felt she needed to say before letting her walk inside. She took one more cursory look around, making sure that no one was going to suddenly jump out of the bushes and attack them, before closing the door.

"Sorry about the blood trails and splatter on the wall. Ramona was messy. And the singed part of the room is where Zubin's head exploded when they went for the escape attempt."

It was a change of pace for Saachi to be talking to people without them getting angry at her. It just came naturally to excuse why the room was such a mess like she was back at home. Not that she really had the chance to do that with her father being omnipresent at home but she at least assumed something like that would happen. She wasn't out of the jungle just yet. Even if Bunny seemed to be on a somewhat similar wavelength about her other classmates, she was still unpredictable and could easily be pulling off some sort of performance. She knew better than to underestimate someone who had amassed three kills under their belt.

As the other two girls made themselves comfortable, Saachi leaned back against the door, shotgun still loosely dangling by her side. She stayed silent, her face remaining stoically neutral as she watched the other two. She bit her lip as she thought about how to proceed. She wasn't sure how much longer she was going to go alone. She'd already encountered 2 large groups of kids and they all seemed pretty set in not playing, escaping or trying to kill her. As much as it was safer for her not to rely on others and risk getting shot in the back, sheer numbers alone could overpower her and easily leave her dead. With how things were progressing, this seemed like as good a time as any.

"It's nice to meet people who are actually friendly to me," Saachi admitted, taking time to choose her next words correctly. "I'd hate to bring down the mood, but yesterday I had a confrontation with Maxwell Lombardi. He made it clear to me that he didn't want to win the game, but to make sure that we lost. I don't know if you're playing Miranda, but if you have even the slightest inkling of doing so, Maxwell's going to make it his personal mission to make sure that you die."

The first gauntlet was thrown and Saachi pushed herself off the door. She thought she should lead off strong, get them to recognise the gravity of the situation they were in. She definitely knew it was in Bunny's best interests to know that there was someone actively hunting her down on the island. Hopefully, Miranda would also be able to relate. Saachi also stretched the truth a little with regards to Maxwell's escape. No reason for the others to know her true intentions. She laid the gun down next to her, crossing her arms while her right hand stroked her jaw. She made sure to look directly at the both of them, attempting to convey the seriousness of the situation before continuing.

"Judging from what you said, you've had a similar experience to me, Bunny. People immediately becoming hostile just by your presence. Claiming that they're morally superior even as they lambast and attempt to kill you. I've already found two large groups of these people. One of them would happily kill me if they had the chance and the other tried fiddling with their collars to escape. I hope I don't have to explain why being rescued would be bad for us at this stage of the game."

She was biting her lip again, her left hand squeezing her right elbow as she tried to disperse the nerves that were building up inside her. She could only hope that the two would be receptive to her words. What if Miranda was appaled at what she had to say? What if Bunny thought that she was full of shit? She felt that the more web of half-truths that she spun, the more she got tangled within them. She had to keep a calm facade, however. Any sign of hesitation or nervousness would ruin the entire pitch. She needed to make sure the ball was in her court for as long as possible. She took another short break, attempting to hold back the deluge of tenseness that was trying to stiffen her body.

"All I'm trying to do is survive, and because of that, I'm branded a monster. We all have taken action to try and stay alive and we get punished for it while the others criticise us and come up with excuses to make us do the dirty work of not having everyone dying at once. We've pissed off a lot of people who would be more than happy to get together and kill us just so they can be the "good guys". That's why I believe it'd be best if we started to work together from now on. I'm not saying we have to stick together, but lets at least focus on making sure that we're the final three. I know it'd be good for all of us to have at least one person we can rely on to not immediately shoot us in the back. Once we make it to the end, we can worry about what to do from there. Sound good?"

At this point, this was all she could do. At the back of her mind, she had no desire to stick with Bunny for her remaining time on the island. Her time with Jay helped recognise the mental strain that came with dealing with someone who had less than stable emotions and Bunny was as unpredictable as she was irritating. She couldn't deny the benefits of a numbers advantage. Now, the ball belonged to them and all Saachi could do was stand there and hope they'd be receptive to her words. Though she had more confidence in Miranda than Bunny, she could never fully quash the doubt in the back of her mind that both of them would think that she was batshit crazy. Maybe she was. She'd been on the island for so long by this point. Probably wasn't good to linger on that thought.

Miranda shook.

Saachi, Saachi, she was here. She had no idea what to do, or what to say. Bunny was a nuisance at best, and a definite threat at worst. But Saachi…

Miranda wasn’t sure what to say, or do. It made things trickier. She had no idea what Saachi would do, either. Bunny was one thing, but Saachi was another. Her eyes darted between the two, but Bunny opened her mouth and continued talking?

… She wasn’t going to do anything?

Miranda let her eyes glower for a moment. Why? And why was Saachi acting… normal? If that’s the best word. Maybe not “normal.” Casual? Maybe better.

Something was up.

Her eyes flickered between the two, back and forth. Maybe Saachi was planning something, or Bunny was. But, like an idiot…

She obliged, and stepped forward. It wasn’t like she didn’t keep her hand on the gun, though, even if loosely. But it felt weird to do so.

“I’m… glad to see you too, Saachi.”

In a way, yes. And in a way, no. But she did return a small smile of her own.

Once they got inside, Miranda scrunched her nose at a familiar copper smell. Yeeeeah, someone died in here, didn’t they? Saachi confirmed that.

Escape attempt? Okay, so people were trying to escape now. She didn’t get the point of trying, but it was a thing people did now. She tried to remember if Zubin had said anything to the effect, back at the bridge. Her mind drew a blank.

She wasn’t sure how comfortable she could get right now. Saachi was friendly, and maybe Bunny, but she still didn’t know if they were trying anything. And honestly, it was a little hard to, what with the blood stains on the wall.

But Miranda dug her nails into her palms as Saachi continued talking. Honestly, she’d never thought what would happen if they got rescued, or what happens after. She bit her lip, thinking a bit.

Then:

“You know… I saw Wendy and Scarlett. They saw me… um, after Sebastien. They taunted me, shot at me. And you know what’s funny? I always knew I had to kill someone, ever since I woke up. It wasn’t like everyone wasn’t going to attack me, either. But, uh…”

Miranda lost her train of thought. Should she tell them about Kasumi, or how exactly Sebastien died? She still had to process all this.

“I guess what I’m saying is, I can relate.”

Gulp of saliva.

Deep breath. Okay, so this is a thing now. Saachi was a friend, someone who Miranda was very fond of, and Bunny… was a loudmouth. But she had to make an option, right here, right now.

“If we stick together… what’s the plan? On how we’re doing things, I mean.”

“Ick.”

Bunny wrinkled her nose at the less than tasteful décor of the cabin. There was a lot of blood and gore splattered all over the place. She hadn’t realised it until now, but days of trudging along outside and sleeping in bushes and beneath trees had resulted in her developing a pretty gross cold, all sniffly and blocked up. The cabin still stank bad enough that she could smell it through her stifled nose, the delightful blend of blood and burnt… something or other, she didn’t particularly want to know exactly what, drifting into her nostrils. And, gosh dang it, some of the blood had managed to get onto the bed as well.

Bunny pursed her lips, took another long, hard look at the bed, then strode towards it and flopped face first onto the sheets, making sure her head was resting on one of the non-blood-covered sections. She let out a sigh of relief as she sank into the bed, all of her exhaustion and stress and injuries just melting away. Gosh, this was freaking heavenly. She was warm, and she was safe, and she was comfortable. Y’know what? This made all of the crap she’d had to go through to get this entirely worth it.

Saachi was saying something, and Bunny’s initial reaction was to just try and tune her out, just let herself drift off and get some well-earned sleep. Some part of her, though, propped herself up on one elbow, hand under her chin, to look at the two other girls as they talked.

So, Maxwell von British was going after anybody who was ‘playing?’ Useful information, if entirely unsurprising. From what she’d dealt with so far, if your name appeared on the announcements, suddenly every other person made it their life mission to eradicate the scum that was plaguing the island, or some other overly flowery description to make their murder sound better than anybody else’s. And hey, what’d’ya know? Saachi and Miranda sounded like they’d experience the exact same thing. Funny that.

And what was Saachi’s grand plan to deal with all of this? Group up. Stick together. Be that legion of anti-heroes that cropped up in all the old anime series Bunny watched back at home. She raised an eyebrow and tilted her head to the side.

Hmmm. See, on one hand, a group of three known players? All working together? Gosh, well, that was pretty much the biggest target on their backs Bunny had ever seen. But, on the other hand… They all had weapons. They had all, obviously, worked out that they needed to kill in order to survive. If any would-be player hunters tried to take them all on alone, they would absolutely get what they deserved.

“Ooooh, is it story time?”

Bunny let out a yawn, before rolling upside down, head dangling off the edge of the bed.

“Very first day out here, Jeanie Beanie Buendeadia threw rocks at me and tried to beat me up. So, like, I’ve been covered in blood and stuff ever since then, which isn’t a great look! That’s how, y’know, the stuff with Everett went down. He freaked out, the people hanging around him freaked out, and he tried to shoot me. So I shot him first. But that –“

Bunny gave her best attempt at a shrug, which was surprisingly difficult when you were hanging upside down.

“- was apparently enough for me to become a cold-blooded murderer! At least, that was Sophie’s opinion. And Cody and Sarah’s, too. Oooh, and whatsherface, Tessa as well! D’you what I’ve wanted this entire time? A nap. I’ve just wanted some gosh darn rest for the past, like, four days, but everyone I’ve run into thinks I’m some sort of monster.”

She rolled back onto her front again, and gave a little grin at the other two.

“Even though they’re the ones that shoot first. Maybe they’re just paranoid! But I’d be more scared of the people that justify their killings as a good and righteous thing, rather than a necessity. “

Bunny snuggled her face back into the sheets, feeling her consciousness begin to slip away as sleep tried to claim her.

“If we are gonna stick together – oh, I’m totally down for that, by the way, safety in numbers after all – then can the first order of business be getting some sleep? I feel like my body’s about to fall apart, here. Maybe after that we can, I dunno… hold up here for a bit? It’s warm. It’s safe. And if anybody comes running in, shooting before asking questions?”

Bunny giggled into the sheets.

“Well, I’ve got three guns all myself.”

Saachi was relieved as the other girls began to voice their support for her plan. Maybe it was because of the connection that they had. Their mutual experiences may have created a bond that was unique, even outside of the context of the island. They had all decided to play, recognising the reality of the situation and not clinging to fanciful dreams. They were all vilified by the others because of their actions, even though it was their actions that were keeping them alive. Well, at least for now. They were probably going to die in time, but Saachi would've appreciated not being immediately considered a monster just because of her mere existence.

Maybe it was that resentment against her that fueled her actions. As soon as she started killing, she recognised that people were probably not going to be on her side. From the sounds of it, she underestimated just how much vitriol the act would cause. She was smart, always getting the jump on others before they could reach her so she never had to think hard about how she interacted with them. Bunny and Miranda took different approaches and suffered because of it. From their accounts, it was going to be them against the rest as they were more than happy to try and kill them on sight.

Bunny had a point. At least they knew what they were doing wasn't pretty. The only joy that she got out of killing was that she was one step closer to making it home. Well, at least that's what she told herself. It wasn't like she killed every person in sight. If she did, Chuck would be dead in a puddle outside the lighthouse. Admittedly, that wasn't the worst image Saachi could've thought of, but that wasn't the point. She recognised that killing was dirty. That you couldn't decorate it with "good intentions" and pretend that suddenly it was all ok. Saachi had no illusions that anything she did was "right", she did what she did to survive. At least she was honest with herself instead of deluding herself into believing that killing someone was an act of righteous glory.

Though she agreed with Bunny in that aspect, that didn't mean she trusted her fully. She was Bunny after all, and wouldn't be surprised if she had a flighty temperament and suddenly decided to betray them if they pissed her off too much. Plus, with the number of people that she listed as attacking her on sight and immediately listing her as a cold-blooded killer, Saachi reckoned that she had to have done something to garner that reputation more than getting the initiative over Everett. She wasn't going to let Bunny know that. Saachi reckoned if she even caught on slightly to her suspicions, Bunny would leave in a heartbeat. Maybe shoot down Saachi and Miranda on her way out.

That's why she gave a friendly smile to the pair, not betraying her thoughts or intentions. She might as well let Bunny get her way. No reason to rock the boat in any way and it wasn't like her idea was bad or anything. It was mostly in line with her thoughts. It did irk her slightly how Bunny managed to get three guns while she struggled for 4 days to get just one.

"Sounds like a good plan Bunny. Feel free to use the bed, since you've made your home there already."

She did her best attempt to sound congenial. Keep Bunny placated and the guns were on her side. Seemed like simple math to her. She spent most of her energy on Bunny because she was the one she needed to worry about. She had no problems with Miranda. If things were like they were back at home, working with Miranda should be a breeze. Though she could sense Miranda's nervousness, it wasn't something that Saachi considered dire. Manda was reliable and not as temperamental. Once she had finished fully placating Bunny to their side, she could deal with Manda's nerves. It shouldn't be too difficult.

"I'll check outside one last time and then crash on the sofa." She informed the group as she opened the door to check outside, making sure to pick up her gun as she headed towards the exit.

From there, nothing much happened. No one else came to the house and there wasn't much they could do with Bunny being as tired as she was. Saachi did her best to reassure Miranda's nerves, tell her that she was on her side and that it was them to the end, before lying on the sofa. For such a boring day, Saachi couldn't help but feel the tension growing inside her. In fact, it was possibly because of the lack of action that Saachi was so nervous in the first place. As Saachi tried to sleep, she constantly twisted and turned, unable to get out the eternal discomfort that was omnipresent and inescapable.

Saachi hadn't killed anyone. What if nobody died today? Would she even get a chance to wake up before Danya detonated all the collars? Maybe she should've pulled the trigger on Bunny, just to ensure their survival? She couldn't kill Miranda, at least, not now. But, what if not killing her meant that they all died? Everything she did would've been worthless. All the suffering she put herself through would be for nought. Maybe it wasn't too late to do something? Maybe she could kill Bunny, you know, just in case?

No, that ruins the point of making the alliance in the first place. There were still kids left on the island. Statistically speaking, there was a high chance at least one of them died. Then again, she didn't really know the math to justify that, but it was something that she could cling to. This was really the first time it was a legitimate concern to her. Was it wrong for her to have some hope that she wouldn't die the next day just because she didn't kill someone? How many kids were there even left? She knew she'd passed the halfway point, but she didn't count how many kids were on the bus. She should've done, in retrospect. Though how she would've predicted coming onto the island, she'd never know.

Though the urge to do something to dissuade her worries was clearly going through her mind, she held back. If she killed Bunny, she was proving them right. That she was a monster, a cold-blooded killer, who had completely fallen under the spell of the game. Or was she under it already? Would she even know when she crossed that brink? Or was it already too late? No. If she was able to have these thoughts, that had to mean that she wasn't gone. Right?

Of course, that's right, Saachi told herself. She was sane. She was sane. She was sane. The more she repeated it, the more she believed it. She was totally in control. All she had to do was lie there and just let the next day come. She will still be alive tomorrow. She wasn't going to die. She didn't have to kill, at least today. She could continue tomorrow. With Miranda. And Bunny.

Yeah. That sounded nice.

While it may have taken her time, she eventually fell into a restless sleep.

“Didn’t Sophie kill people, too?” Miranda asked.

It was mostly to herself, to be honest. Like when you’re thinking aloud, and you just say whatever’s on your mind. But she remembered Clio. She had a feeling there was someone else that wasn’t coming instantly to mind, either.

But Bunny was right? It would be honestly more worrying if someone saw killing as somehow… moral, rather than anything necessary. Sebastien and Kasumi flickered back for a moment. If someone could do something like that and say with absolute certainty that it was the right thing to do, she’d be more concerned about them than if they said they did what was necessary.

… Maybe it wasn’t just Sophie, either. Everett killed, maybe. Maybe Scarlett too? Scarlett. Miranda’s nails continued to dig at that thought. And Wendy. It was funny how people reacted to murder, looking back. Sure, killing people’s bad… but…

Saachi spoke again, snapping Miranda out of her thoughts.

“Right,” Miranda said.

Okay, so Saachi was checking outside. Miranda wondered for a moment what they would do they saw someone out there. She continued letting her nails dig into her palms as she saw Saachi look out. No one was out there, though.

From there, it was quiet. Miranda still had some concerns about the whole thing. But, Saachi assured her it’d be fine if they worked together for the time being. She couldn’t help but look back on the last group she was with. How it combusted.

Wasn’t the reason why she stayed with that group to begin with was because of her leg?

But she couldn’t fully distrust Saachi after all. She was… she was Saachi.

So, she’d try to stick around. Be accommodating. They had plenty of weapons, anyways, as long as they aren’t directed towards each other.

((Miranda Millers continued elsewhere))

[[Wendy Fischer Continued From: Don't Trust the Cute Blondes.]]

The knob turned.

The door creaked open.

The Ugg boots of G29 crept cross the old wood floor.

G18 was inside - alone. The dot representing it, blinked not too far away. G18 was a memorable number, one G29 would never forget after hitting it upside the head, before it did what it did. Now it was here, in bed, snoring.

G29 looked around, blonde braids waving with every movement of the head. Seemed as if G18 had gathered more power since the last time they had met. Three large sources, lined the wall to the side. G29 stood next to them, brushing fingertips across them. Placing them out of sight, out of reach. The one from G15, was conveniently tucked away.

"Silly wabbit," said just like some favorite cartoons. Almost had the urge to mutter the classic line of being 'vewy vewy quiet' but resisted.

Instead G29 walked out the bedroom, then walked back a moment later, surveying the bedroom some more, taking note of the possibly clothes filled dressers.

At last.

G28 would be here eventually. If not, well, it was time to get started soon enough.

G29 could already sense the rising smell of smoke burning outside of the bedroom window.

“Hrrrrrgllblurrrg….”

Bunny shifted slightly in her sleep, nestled under the covers, safe and cozy like a big warm fluffy pain au chocolat. There was a pretty big puddle of drool underneath her open mouth, but she didn’t even notice it. She didn’t notice anything at all, as the residents of the cabin drifted around her sleeping form, and eventually slipped outside and vanished.

She slept on, and for several hours, everything was all right in the world of Bunny Barlowe.

And even when she woke up, eyes slowly blinking open, her world a vision of soft sheets and gentle white pillows, everything was still all right for a while. Heck, it was more than all right. This was as close to perfection as she could imagine right now! She was warm and cozy, and the pain that had been wracking her body had calmed to a simple, gentle ebb, an almost pleasant sensation, as if it was just gently nudging her every now and then to say ‘Hey. Still here, girl, but I’m not here to cause trouble.’

But you know what the best part was? She finally, finally wasn’t exhausted anymore. Sleepy, certainly, but it was that wonderful fuzzy sleepy sensation, when you’d just woken up, and the only things that existed were you and your bed. The aches and strain that had been put on her body felt like it had all just melted away, and Bunny let out a soft, content sigh into the pillow, yawning and getting herself even more comfortable.

Sniff sniff…

Oh! Oh man, no, she’d changed her mind: this was the best part! Miranda or Saachi must have started cooking something! Oooooh, she could really go for some bacon this morning! Or pancakes! Or both! Gosh, that’d just be the icing on the cake!

Then, as the veil of sleep lifted from Bunny’s mind, and the cogs in her mind started to turn, she realised that something wasn’t right. What, exactly, were Saachi or Miranda gonna cook? Were they gonna fry their ration bars? Whip up some smoky Wonder Bread (Oooh, actually, that one didn’t sound too bad)? And why were they cooking when they could have been doing, oh, y’know, anything actually useful?

Bunny sat up, brow furrowed, sniffing the air. The smell of smoke was getting thicker and thicker, and it wasn’t smoke from the stove or anything like that, it was wood smoke, open flames on bare logs. She rubbed her eyes, blinked them a few times, and turned to look directly at Wendy Fischer. She yelped, sleepiness vanishing from her, as she scooted backwards, pressing her back against the wall. She scanned the wall where she’d placed all of her guns before she’d passed out, and all of a sudden, she could feel her heartbeat, as she realised that they weren’t there anymore.

What on earth was going on?

Bunny looked up at Wendy again, doing nothing but blinking at her for a few seconds, before she said the very first thing that came into her mind.

“What the heck are you doing here?”

"Morning! Were you expecting someone else? No? Well, to be honest after what you did to Everett, I was going to do the same to you."

G29's smile widened, a grin from ear to ear at the waking expression on the face of G18.

"But I've changed my mind. That's all in the past, can't do much about it now, right. Instead, I've decided we should both be friends, after - you know. They're all gone now. And friends share. Right now I could use some of those neat looking guns you had lying around."

The wooden chair G29 sat on as she watched the previously sleeping G18, creaked slightly, as G29 bent over to unzip the bag, pulling out a small tin saved from the tar pit adventure. G29 also took note of the jacket G18 previously wore, was now replaced by a puffy black vest not quite hidden under the light blue shirt. Not quite the fashion statement it's wearer was known for, but it definitely stuck out as something that might be valuable.

"To prove it, I spent all morning heating up something to share with you, on this campfire I made right outside."

As if on cue a slight layer of smoke wafted it's way into the room, from the mostly shut window. The tin was placed on the surface of a second wooden chair and pushed forward.

G29 tossed blonde braids back and flashed a coy little smile, with squinted eyes.

"Here. Have some nice warm, soup."

Bunny glared at the tin with suspicion. Then, she glanced up at Wendy, her face completely unchanged. The room, too, was given a once over with suspicious eyes. Now, this could, of course, be completely innocuous soup. This could, of course, be Crazy Wendy Bitchscher trying to make peace with a lovely morning tin of soup. Some delicious minestrone to start her day!

Shockingly, Bunny didn’t think that was the case for a second. She trusted Wendy about as far as she could throw her dumb ass, and those shenanigans at the burned ruin had increased those feelings tenfold. And now she was sitting here in front of her, with all of Bunny’s guns hidden out of sight, and Saachi and Miranda nowhere to be seen, and she’d probably done super creepy like watched her sleep for a bit, so frankly, if Hitler and Stalin were to rise from their graves and merge into some hideous Ultra Evil, Bunny would probably have trusted Stalitler more than Wendy right now.

Besides, even if it had actually been soup, Bunny still wouldn’t have drank it. She didn’t know how Wendy could tie her own shoelaces, let alone heat up soup.

“Oh! Well, that’s lovely of you, Wendy!” Bunny said. The fog of sleep was drifting slowly but certainly away from her mind, and that lovely, familiar, bubbly persona was coming to the forefront, relaxing her, calming her down, making her feel confident in her current situation, like a nice warm hat and scarf, or the reverberation after you pulled the trigger.

“Sadly, I’m just not that hungry, sorry! I mean, all that running around and murdering I just love doing, you’ve gotta keep up a healthy appetite to keep that going!”

Man, Bunny was SUPER glad her stomach had decided not to growl in protest just then. That’d have kinda thrown a wrench in her fib!

“But hey, now that we’re both here, all nice and cozy, lets chat!”

She paused after speaking, looking at Wendy, and slowly sat herself up, the covers still covering her lower body, desperately trying to blow the last of the fog out of her head. She was on the back foot, here, and she knew it, and no doubt even Wendy knew it. Wendy had the more advantageous position, Wendy knew where Bunny’s guns were, Wendy was positioned in front of the only escape route.

“I’d just love to know what you’ve done with all my hard earned weaponry!”

But Bunny was well-rested now, and her wounds had been given time to heal, and she was feeling fresh and full of bounce and ready to go!

“Oh, and I’d also love to know where Saachi and Miranda have gone!”

And perhaps more importantly, now that she’d gotten herself some sleep, there wasn’t anything that Bunny was desperately searching for any longer. And now that she’d been forced to take down two more people after her first, there wasn’t any reason to try and keep her tally down. So if anybody looked like they were gonna get in her way? Hope they weren’t expecting her to hesitate on the trigger!

“And, y’know, I just love murdering so much that I might just beat you to death with my bare hands if you don’t tell me!”

Jermaine Urwick - Don't worry even if things end up a bit too heavy, we'll all float on all right.
Maya Dagenham - She hates it when I shout these words, but I'll still sing for you.
Ivor Faraday - Swung and missed, I put my heart in this mythical holy good guy I want so bad to be.
