we won't dismiss this sickness huffs our brain

private until mystery guest enters

A large, high-ceilinged building found north of the destroyed housing unit, the mess hall consists of two rooms. The first is a wide open space containing several long bench tables, bolted to the floor. The other is a spacious kitchen, as would be expected for a building that had to cater for a large number of miners. A large window between the two rooms once allowed food to be passed out as soon as it was ready, all the better to quickly sate the hunger of the workers after a long day.

Poke. Poke. Poooooooooke.

That's all she did. The body had holes in it. She poked it with her index, touching her face. That was a girl's. She didn't know what to do with this one. She was far away from the ocean and had already burned some bodies.

She realized it was the first female body she came across. At least, after she made up her mind of maiming every bodies in an unspoken oath to herself. Maybe she could undress her and stuff her clothes down her mouth.

Perhaps, she could do a pseudo-crucifixion with broken wooden things. One table leg in her face, another on each of her hands and the last one connecting the feet together. She poked the body again. Some parts of it was still warm, other parts were cold, and some were in the middle. She didn't know what to think of it. Bullets hole, maybe it was Katarina or Bunny. These were the only two people with guns that had a history killing she could think of.

Maybe it was a random guy. There wasn't a lot of guy killers, maybe one maximum. Michael Crowe, he killed two other guys but he didn't kill anybody. He killed her bounty and she was angry at him, she made a mental note to make his life a living hell when she will confront him about that.

She poked the body, over and over and over and over again. She could take her clothes. She wanted a new shirt and new shoes. Her pants were okay but she prefered the one she had on her. She poked the girl's bosom like a curious child in front of a dead cat.

She didn't know what to do with the body of the girl, so she stared at it for a while.

((run away))
This building was large.
Much larger than it was used to.
The lighthouse.
The cabin.
The Tunnels.
All tight.
Confined.
Limited.
The variables were so manageable, the temptations restrained.
It liked that.
It did not like this.
That was Its decision.
Something about this was wrong and discomforting.
It hadn't decided what yet.
Opinions just seemed very important.
It was tired of having them forced upon It.
It would make them now.
And It decided It didn't like this.
With equal arbitration It decided It liked the girl poking around across the room.
It decided she was interesting.
That was also a decision It got to make now.
It didn't need to shoot at every opportunity.
It decided when things died.
It decided how.
It had all the time in the world to make that happen.
Something didn't like that at all.
It wasn't listening.
Instead, It spoke.
"First one."
It had meant to ask a question.
The words came out flat.
Absolute.
Words were difficult.
It didn't like them.

Drop everything and run.

She ran and jumped, feet first.

She didn't care.

It didn't know why she was running at It unarmed.
She didn't look like she could bring It down.
It could have shot her at any time.
But It was curious.
The door smashed into Its face.
It toppled over.
Blood poured from Its nose.
It got up.
It was no longer curious.
It no longer liked her.
It pointed the gun at the now slammed shut door.
It filled it with holes.

The door shut on her, it stunned her and she stumbled backward.

So did Tina, she fell backward after her gun, it hurt her, it pained her.

Holes started to appear through the door follow by loud noises and wood splinters between her legs.

Gun, she had a gun, the girl had a gun and Tina left hers in her bag.

She got up and ran.

The bullets kept ringing, her legs hurt, her mouth was sow shut.

She ran and ran and ran and, then, she vanished.

One.
Two.
Three.
It kept the shots in chunks.
One.
Two.
Three.
Steady, disciplined rhythm.
One.
Two.
Three.
It wasn't afraid.
One.
It wasn't angry.
Two.
It didn't feel.
Three.
It just had to keep reminding Itself that.
Yes.
Good.
As the last shot died down, It could hear the girl running.
Wounded?
Afraid?
Disarmed?
Any would do.
It kicked the door open and scanned the room for her.
No signs of movement.
Few convenient hiding places.
It found the obvious one and advanced towards the counter.
Its frame loomed over head, peering over to find the cowering girl and a single shot to end this.

Oh.
Hair.
It hadn't thought about hair.
It thought about so little that could remind It It was a person.
I can't do this.
Shh.
This is stupid.
Shh.
This isn't better. It doesn't work.
Shh.
It was hard to come up with a more detailed argument with Its face buried in the counter and Its blood pooling around Its nose.

Stunned. She was stunned. Her face was stunned, her body was stunned, her soul was stunned. It was also bloodied, her nose was probably broken, the blood went down the corner, it trickled down, raining soft droplets on the blood. She wondered if she killed her, and she wondered if she was supposed to regret it. Her hand was still on the girl's face, she raised the head of the girl and threw her backward.

Tina jumped the corner, bleeding. She landed on broken glass shards and they made their way inside of her. She grappled the gun out of the girl's hands and threw it to the side. She was still stunned and bleeding, but her eyes were wide open. They stared at Tina's and she could only stare back. She felt like gouging them.

Instead, she pulled out a two inches piece of glass stuck in her abdomen and pointed her. She imagined what she could do to her. She could cut her hair off and force her to shallow it. Yes, that would be good. Like that, she'd make it. Her only goal would succeed and she wouldn't have to be scared anymore. She would have to keep up, increasing the brutality of her actions but they will succeed. That was the only comfort.

Then she looked at her feet.

She looked back at her hair.

Then back her feet.

A couple of times.

She pointed her feet.

"I want your shoes."

It looked at her.
Just give her the fucking shoes.
It felt blood running down Its face to its chest.
I can't keep doing this.
It looked at Its feet.
It's not worth it. I have to be smarter or I die.
It smirked.
"Come and take them."

She started slowly. She pulled on her shoes softly. It was harder than it looked like so she had to pull harder and harder. The first shoe, the right one came off, then she started with the other one. She was still staring at KK in the eyes with her broken glass shard. She was smirking. She wanted to cut her face open.

She pulled off the second one. She backed off, slowly. KK's gun was next to her feet, she kicked it away, sending it spinning away from them. KK needed it more than Tina did, so she decided she could keep it. She still staring in the white of the girl's eyes, she ducked, grabbing her bag with her handgun and supplies in it with her left hand.

She stepped backward, inching toward the door. It had holes in it. Didn't really matter. She unzipped her bag, threw her weapon away then pulled out the real deal and told her not to move. She closed the door, threw the shoes away and ran away.

But she left a present for KK to find.

It sat until the blood was cold on Its face.
It let Its socked clad feet trail across the door to retrieve its gun.
It looked out of the doorway to see a scattering of push pins left waiting for It when It left.
Deep breath filled Its lungs as it walked as far as It could.
Stripped Its socks off and balled them up in Its bag.
Stared.
Charged.
Leapt.
Crashed.
Scraped.
Stilled.
I fucked up.
It knew.
It didn't move.
I need something new.
It disagreed.
Rose.
Saw Its shoes where she left them.
Covered Its feet.
Left.
((It moves on.))
