Savior

One-Shot

To the south of the mess hall lies the ruins of what must have once been some form of barracks or living facility. The building, however, has been gutted by fire, leaving only ashes and blackened timber—the result of improper safety precautions in storage of explosives that eventually led to the abandonment of the entire island as an unsafe workplace. The building was clearly rather large, with the wreckage indicating a number of distinct rooms. The entire place is quietly ominous, a situation not helped by the fact that the layout of the ruins makes it impossible to keep an eye on the entirety of the surroundings at once.

((No good deed goes unpunished))

Theodore Fletcher was walking.

You've passed this before. How many times have you seen this same burnt out building? How many times have you tried not to look at it? How many times have you failed? How many people do you think died in there? How many of them do you think where your friends? How many of them thought about you even once before then? How many people back home are wondering why you aren't already dead instead of them? How many of them always hated you? How many of them never felt anything about you at all? How many of them will have to be reminded of your name when they watch you die? How many of them will forget it again right after?

Theodore Fletcher kept his eyes straight forward and gripped the stolen bag tighter.

You don't know where James is. He could be anywhere. He could be around any corner. He's probably waiting for you to let your guard down right now.

Theodore Fletcher paused.

Theodore Fletcher smiled.

You don't know where you are. You don't know what time it is. You don't know where you're going.

Theodore Fletcher wasn't listening anymore.

Theodore Fletcher was walking.

((Theodore Fletcher doesn't know what he'll do next. But it won't be nothing.))
