She's the girl from the video?

open

The shipping yard, found in the southwestern part of the island, is a maze of docks and colorful containers that has remained largely unchanged since the island was abandoned, aside from accumulating more rust. Once a major hub of activity on the island, the shipping yard will soon see action once more, though likely of a far more lethal sort than in its active life.

She's the girl from the video?

#1

Post by Lilith »

No neck. Blood. Pills. More blood.

For the first time on the island, she felt anger toward the people who watched her. The terrorists, the people at home, the viewers, her family, her fans, her haters, everyone that looked at her like a bug inside of a glass pushing on the rims trying to escape. It boiled inside of her. She had been pretty emotionless for the past days, sometimes her anger bubbling up softly but never in strong doses.

When she heard the announcement about the Shipping Yard, she had to see it for herself. She didn't believe. They actually killed him. She didn't know him, at all. His name was a vague memory of a past. He was the boyfriend of a mean bitch who talked shit about her acne with her sister. That's what he was: a memory of some other girl Tina didn't like.

Yet, he died, and not in the right way. He wasn't killed, he was murdered. Quite the difference, he wasn't a vague name in a database, the blood was on someone's hands. They, the participants, were only ants scrambling around while the researcher stared, writing and making conclusion. It was the equivalent of a scientist pressing with their thumb on the abdomen of one of the ant, killing it.

They murdered him. A mistake, she was over a mistake. A mistake, a mistake of existence, a mistake in logic, a mistake in logistic, a mistake in their plan. He wasn't supposed to be there. He was blew up, by them. They killed him, his only sin was a wound to his knee. Unable to move, he was trapped by his tormenters and killed there. A liability, would be the right term, but Tina didn't know that word. She only knew anger.

She turned to the camera, opening her mouth.

"You fucked up. Yes, you, person that announce shit and decide where the danzerzone are. You fucked up. You killed someone. You are a murderer. You knew about his leg injury and you killed him, you doomed there because of your lack of fucking patience."

She stepped forward, raising her shirt.

"That was KK's."

She showed her hand.

"That was mine."

She showed her eye.

"That was Kyran's"

She pointed his neck.

"That was yours."

She crossed her arms, shaking her head. She didn't smoke. She was shaky, on her nerves, angry. She kept shaking her head, her hair falling down on her shoulders from her pseudo-bun. She looked back at the camera, retying her hair with a strand of it.

"That's a death directly responsible by you. Not us, you can't fucking blame us on that one, you did this. You killed him, wasn't fucking us. A grown fucking man killed him."

She started smiling, shaking her head again.

"You fucked up real good there. We are going to have a talk, a fucking good one when this is over. Either here or in Hell."

And because it was unreadable, it followed that Kitty would get lost.

Again.

[Kitty Gittschall continued from Bread And Cirruses.]

The shipping yard was full of big, beautiful boxes. All of them looked like they were roughly the same size and shape. How did the world manage that? How did every single different country in the world decide to come together and agree that they would all use the same sized shipping container, even when they all use different systems of measurement? Miraculously, they managed, and thus the standard shipping container was born. It was impossible to hope for the remaining people on the island to find a similar hope in themselves, she figured. Things were rough.

Nate left her alone. Kitty remembered something she learned about cats leaving their owners when they got to a certain age, to find a place to curl up and die alone. Is that what Nate did? She didn't look like she was ailing, or failing to breath, or paling at the idea of having to kill someone. If it was what she did, though, then Kitty couldn't argue with her decision. The stars had separated them, and that was that.

Stumbling around the maze of shipping containers, Kitty called out a few times to see if there was anyone around.

"Hello? Anyone?"

There was a good few seconds of pause in between each shout. In her hands she held the club from the bag she found in the showers, that same bag over her shoulder. If there was an ambush, she'd be ready for anything short of a bullet. At least, that's what she liked to believe. That's what kept her on the straight and narrow. That's what kept her in the same tight loop around the same yellow shipping container, walking in circles without realizing it. That's what kept her going.

"Heeey? Is there anyone left?"

"..."

She looked away from the camera. She wasn't alone. Her gun was back in her bag. It has been a while she had it in her hands. She didn't feel the need to carry it all the time. People around her were dying without her action and she felt okay with that. She sighed. She would have to continue her monologue another time.

She turned around. The voice came from the boxes. She didn't know what to expect. A singular voice was resonating. One of a girl. She tried to remember if she had a grudge against one. Other than Natalie, which was fixed, she didn't have any. KK was also fixed. Her injuries on her abdomen were a painful reminder of that.

She walked quietly toward the voice. Creeping toward it. She was dressed but much less than she used to be. She still had her pant but she was now in her camisole. It was bloody at certain places due to her injury. She kinda wanted new clothes. She crept closer, Tina was good at not making noises. She was quiet, like a panther hunting down her prey.

She tried to locate the noise. She had quiet down. She saw the perfect trap. A box on a box, she assumed the girl was around. She looked at her hands and looked back. The girl was somewhere behind the boxes. An easy kill. She hoped it was a girl like Miranda. She was mean to her, and she was still alive.

She rushed, her arms forward. They touched the wooden crate, she could feel the splinters enter her skin but she didn't care. Anything to be hated had to be done so she shoved it as hard as she could, hoping it would fall on the girl.

It didn't seem like there was anyone around. A shame, really. She was hoping that there would be at least a couple of people who weren't insane walking around, but, then again, those kinds of people were probably less likely to answer her than someone who really wanted her dead, or someone who just wanted to kill for the feeling.

She gave one more shout. If nobody came after this one, then she'd be done.

"Yooo! Anyone? Is th-"

"CRASH!"

Kitty nearly jumped out of her skin. Something big and heavy had landed just a few feet away from her and broken to pieces on the ground. Startled, she moved a few feet away from the broken thing as fast as she could. It looked like it was some kind of non-standard container, made out of wood, that had fallen from above. Was it possible that it had fallen of its own accord? No. It had to have been pushed.

She smiled. There was someone around after all. She wanted to feel calm, even though she was still shaking. The walls of the containers around her were starting to feel cramped, uneasily so. The sky was a ceiling now, through which anything could fall. She had to be cautious, now that she knew that there was someone above her. They had the high ground, and they had the advantage. Every move needed to be calculated, very carefully, and without any room for error.

"H-hey!" Kitty stammered, "How's it g-going?"

A lone bead of sweat rolled down her forehead.

Tina crawled on top of the box that was once standing the other. She wanted to see if she killed her. She wanted to see if the body was broken by the wooden box, but she only saw the shattered crate on the floor with rats running away. A voice came from the corner, the girl was right there.

She armed herself with nothing and leapt forward.

Blue hair. Wasn't her. Her shoulder relaxed. It was just another animal-themed girl. Not the murderous, but the cat one. She sighed and looked down. The girl was shaking. Tina didn't know why she knew her name, maybe it was because she was friend with one of her relatives and they came over to the compound or perhaps she smoked with her once. Felt like decades ago, like when she used to do fingerpainting on mugs and gave them to her parents for gifts.

"I thought you were someone else."

She crossed her arms, tilting her head to the side. Technically, she should still hurt her, stab maybe once or twice. But she was tired, her body was weaker than it used to be. The adrenaline that once rushed through her body was gone and it hurt, every step, every jump, every breath hurt her body. She had been through a lot. She tried to think about the future and the fruit it would give to her, but she knew it was already rotten.

"So, wassup'?"

Wassup?

In all honesty, Kitty hadn't planned this far. She was expecting to have a knife stuck through her, or for her assailant to have been clubbed and dead on the floor already. Could Kitty do that? She could try, but that would have to wait for later. Right now, she had conversation to make, and that conversation wasn't going to be made by just standing around and awkwardly not answering questions.

"There aren't many people left to mistake me for," Kitty said, sticking her free hand in her pocket.

The containers were making her nervous again. Nothing that colorful could be so simple. There was probably something disastrous inside, another ambush waiting to jump out and knife her through the back. What was behind her, again? Shipping containers, probably. How she wandered here and managed to stick around as long as she did was starting to baffle her, though it wasn't too much of a problem before.

It was the other girl's fault. Boxgirl. If she wasn't there, then Kitty'd be able to walk around and look for Boxgirl in peace. Why'd she have to pick now to show up, anyways? Just as she was about to find Boxgirl, she jumped down out of nowhere, and distracted her from looking for Boxgirl. Boxgirl had some nerve, doing that.

Kitty bit on the inside of her cheek. Her skin felt thin.

Fireworks. She wanted to see fireworks. That's what she was craving, she realized. She wanted to see spirals of colors in the sky, like in the 4th of July. A moment of temporary freedom from herself, the person she hated the most. She looked at her. She didn't know why she recognized her, maybe it was the blue hair and the piercings, she didn't look like every girl she had seen.

Everyone looked alike for Tina. Everyone was the same, a boring copy of the last, Blaine wasn't. That's why she liked him. Even after bashing her face, she still wanted to see him alive and he failed that. The girl in front of her was different than the others, but she wasn't able to put her finger on it.

She sneezed.

Oh, so that was it. She wasn't unique. She was like the same. Like KK and Bunny and Natalie and Nate, the same boring copy of the last. She blinked slowly. Maybe she would find her one day. She looked at the girl's face again. Yeah, she wasn't her. The girl from her nightmares and dreams and everything in between. She wondered if she really existed.

"We aren't a lot of girls left. I mean, I think. A lot of guys have been dying too. I thought you might have been KK or Bunny or Saachi or Miranda or Sophie."

She didn't realized she knew their names. They had no meaning to her, she heard them on the announcement and she heard their kills. Yet, she still remembered them. She didn't know why but she felt vaguely disgusted at herself.

"So, are you planning to win?"

"Eventually,"

The word slipped out without her realizing it, but she wasn't at all shocked. It was the truth. She had seen death up close and personal. She didn't want to see her own.

"I get the feeling you fuck with that, too," she stammered. Swearing felt good. Scratched an itch she didn't know she had.

"I don't know if there's anyone fucking left who doesn't want to win, really," Kitty continued, teeth chattering, "Maybe they haven't realized that they're still alive yet."

She forced a smile. Kitty imagined it looking like one of the twisted half-smirk lines stretching across the face of some Snoopy cartoon, a twisted tree branch that flickered between upset and uplifted with each imperfect frame. She knew jackshit about comics, but she knew the Snoopy ones, and that kind of wiry smile always stuck out to her, even if it was a physical impossibility.

Maybe Boxgirl understood, too.

"Yes."

That's the only answer she was able to muster. Kitty and Tina were on the same wavelength. Kitty's smile said it all. They were two girls without kills and the number of potential victims were slowly but surely going down. Soon, there would be only one person left, and it might be either of them.

To be fair, Tina didn't think she would live for that long. She assumed she was going to die earlier due to her reckless behaviour but she was still breathing despite her injuries. She wondered when her luck would run out. She felt sick to think about it. Despite hating herself and everyone, she still didn't want to die but she knew it was going to happen anyways. She bit her lips without realizing.

"I fuck with that."

She shook her head. She didn't understand a lot of things but she still wanted to talk. She felt okay when she talked to others, sometimes. Most of the times she interacted with people, she felt annoyed or hurt but sometimes, she felt okay with talking. That's what she felt when she spoke to Kitty. She was okay with telling her things. She didn't feel like she was doing anything wrong.

"The real world, it hurt me. I was bullied, like, back there."

She couldn't mention the real world, her school life without feeling she was mentioning a dream. She didn't know how to feel nor how to react.

"I won't say this... thing we are in is a good thing but it helped me feel better about that, how I was treated and how I felt about myself, you know?"

Very briefly, the conversation landed in her hands, and Kitty was able to know it inside and out. She could feel all of its bumps and ridges, and turn each and every one of its dials. It felt like the sky. It was made out of steel. It reminded her of a DVD player, vaguely.

When Tina started going about bullying, however, the conversation started to ooze some kind of blue liquid, like wiper fluid, into her hands, and it was starting to become very difficult to hold onto the damn thing. Bullying wasn't something that she was unfamiliar with, but it had still been a few years since she had been through her own social torment. Remembering it wasn't all that difficult, but in the face of what she was living through it lost all significance and impact. It floated away and drifted through space. Zero gravitas.

"This whole," Kitty fumbled for the right words, "mess we're in, it makes everything else seem kind of dull in comparison. I was bullied, back in middle school, or so. Shit sucked, but, well, I guess this puts it into perspective, right?"

She hoped something she had said had made an impact, but she wasn't too sure.

"I'm Kitty, by the way," she added, "I don't think I got your name earlier, and I don't know if you got mine either."

Wiper fluid, all over her hands, but at least the conversation was still in roughly one piece.

"I already knew your name. I'm Tina Luz. Probably know my sisters or cousins or relatives or... you know, the whole package."

Perspective. That was the word she searched for. Her past wasn't so bad compared to what was happening right now. Like Kitty said, it was dull in comparison. As if nothing really mattered as if the world was ending and everybody knew. She kinda wanted a smoke now.

Tina didn't know why she just jumped on Kitty right now. She did try to kill her earlier but it wasn't like she really meant it. She just wanted to kill the concept of her, not the actually Kitty. The concept was her participation in the game, the true self was in front of her. Tina wondered if she was still in the game, her collar was still around her neck and her body was still damaged but maybe all of this wasn't really happening.

She scratched her neck, making sure her collar was still there. It was, her fingers touched the metal. Zubin died because a girl tried to get it off. Maybe Amelia was crying right now, she might have lost a friend but she wasn't sure they were that close. Tina never really knew anything anyways.

"I have hurt people. I don't regret it, they had it coming. But, I wonder what they think of me, you know. I always been forgettable."

She tapped her foot. Was Kyran thinking of her? Was Nat aware that Tina could have killed her but didn't? Was Nate happy with Tina's attempts of making friends? She didn't know.

"My parents... even they forgot about me. Picking me up after school, putting my dish on the table, assigning chores, calling school when I was absent 'cause I was either dealing dope or just skipping classes."

She sighed. There, she said it. The motive of it all. The reason that drove her behind every single actions. Being known, people knowing her, being recognized, people seeing her and acknowledging her presence.

"I could go on, but it doesn't really matter."

She looked up from her feet and looked at the girl with blue hair. She wondered if she had any reasons to survive other than not dying. It was a good reason by itself but a boring answer. She opened her mouth without thinking, rubbing her neck with her left hand.

"I think I'm going to leave now."

Tina Luz. It sounded like a name she should have been familiar with. Rolled right off the tongue, too. She was probably part of some greater picture. If she was, though, she didn't sound like she believed it. Forgettable? Is she? Kitty sized her up. Yeah, that was a fair assessment, at least visually. But, if she had been going around hurting people? She probably made a name for herself, at some point, with some people, who may or may not still be alive.

She was saying that she wanted to leave, too, just as things were getting interesting. Such a shame. Kitty couldn't help but feel a little bit hurt by that. It was distressing, to say the least. She was unsure what it was she would have to do to keep Tina around, but she'd offer up whatever she had, even if what she had was honestly not very much at all.

Kitty brought her free hand up and started pawing at her own cheek, scratching an itch.

"If it makes you feel better,"

Her other hand lifted the club up a little. It was out of Tina's reach, by her own reasoning, but high enough that she could see it. High enough that it looked real, and, hopefully, a little scary.

"I could hit you, a few times, with this. Lightly, 'cause you're nice, and stuff. Just so that this wasn't entirely uneventful. Yeah?"

Yeah?

"Yeah."

Tina realized in what kind of situation she put herself in. Girl in front of her with a weapon, blocking the way for that exit. Behind her, the remnants of the broken box which would slow down her escape from that direction, and there was no way in Hell she would turn her back to Kitty. Her bag was left on the other side, her fully loaded gun patiently waiting for her, leaving her unarmed. She also wanted a smoke, but that was the least of her problems right now. Actually, it made her feel woozy so maybe fighting someone under the withdrawal effects of nicotine might be a bad idea.

They were also in a small environment. A small, box-made corridor with three exits, each one of them blocked partially by an obstacle. Tina was forced to fight an opponent in this tight space and she didn't like it. When people shot at her, she unconsciously forgot the fact that if a bullet touched her, she would disintegrate in tiny, Tina pieces. No bullets harmed her but everything did: broken pieces of glass, wood, her nails and a girls's fists. In front of her was another item to add to the collection of injuries.

She knew for a fact she couldn't back off, both in spirit and in person. Giving up wasn't an option because all the resources she had were hers only. She had more the enough to survive a couple more days here and she was more than happy to keep some of them in case of problems. Kitty was putting that in danger. Her lifeline was threaten and Tina didn't tolerate that.

Sacrifice was something she didn't really understand. However, that was something she knew was needed here. That weapon of her was going to hit her, no matter what. Her right arm wasn't as useful as her left, mainly carried her bag with her shoulder and help her to eat. Her left hand was capable of fighting with her and she needed it. So, she ran at her.

Her legs pushed on the ground, propulsing her toward her foe. Her right arm was lifted above her head, propped on her head, hoping it would stop it from breaking when the heavy club fell on it, trying to reach Kitty's weapon before she got another shot. Her left hand was shaped like a hook, ready to hit Kitty with all the strength she could muster.

She knew one good hit from either her or Kitty could result in their respective victory or loss, and Tina didn't come this far to risk it.

Kitty had given Tina a choice that she herself wasn't entirely prepared to make, and she had done it of her own free will. She hadn't been paying too much attention to where she was standing, relative to an exit, so to her it just seemed like she had struck a nerve. The walls on either side of her grew closer, and now there was another one charging straight at her.

But this was a wall she was able to break through.

She raised the waddy club, ready to strike, and swung it at Tina's head as hard as she could. She felt it hit something, but she wasn't able to find out what that something was before she felt Tina slam into her, almost sending her to the ground. Kitty kneed her in the gut, and backed away. Somehow, she found her footing, re-balancing herself. The entire left side of her upper body hurt a little, and she was having trouble supporting the weight of her bag over her shoulder.

Seeing that Tina's own tackle had left her on the ground, she swung it off her shoulder in her general direction. Hopefully, it landed on her. The lack of extra weight on her arm made her feel a little better. More rooted in herself. She grasped the waddy with both hands, now steadying herself with it.

Her heart rate was starting to pick up, but she was in no frame of mind to try and calm herself down.

Broken fingers, aching wrist, and no air in her lungs.

In anybody's world, that would have been a loss. However, Tina was quite happy about that. The weapon, that thing, didn't hit her head or her chest and she was able to make Kitty stumble a couple of inches away from her. She did, in the end, fall on the ground, butt first while staring at Kitty.

She couldn't breath. She didn't know if it was because of the stress or the anxiety (that she didn't feel) or the pain spreading in her abdomen. It hurt her badly. She assumed it was the pain, something concrete she could put her finger on. She tried to breath in, her lungs hurt as they expanded and she was unable to continue.

Another sacrifice was coming. The girl's bag. She swayed it away with her right hand. The pain she had was increased by a thousand times. Painful, twisted fingers, joints that ached from her addiction and her wrist that was slowly breaking apart blocked the bag and smacked it to one of the box walls. It laid, open on the side, like the guts of a dead animal.

Her right hand had twisted fingers. She could almost see her index and thumb bruising but she was okay with that. It was a small sacrifice for what she was planning. She knew what she wanted to do. She wanted to make her suffer as much as she humanly can while keeping her alive.

Was Tina a sociopath? No, quite the contrary. She felt empathy for Kitty. Too much empathy, that was the problem. She didn't want to feel bad for her, she wanted to be okay with her suffering and she had to work on that. Work on everything she had been building her character arc up, an another act of senseless violence but this time against a person. Not against a corpse, but a real, breathing person.

She started kicking. Wildly. Kitty's ankles were her target, she wanted them to suffer. Kitty was a frail girl, she was tiny, in term of size. An inch smaller than Tina and quite a few pounds lower. Tina had the advantage when it came to that, but her injuries would slow her down. She didn't really know what she was doing but kicking her ankles felt good.

It felt really good.
