There was a stitch in his side, he was out of breath, and Gregory was pretty sure that Fisk and Verity were right behind him. He had taken as many twists and turns as he could, just trying to lose them or at least make sure Verity didn't have a clean shot or something, but he could still hear something behind him and he didn't know if they were actually behind him or not because if he stopped, even if just for a second, they would catch up and then he'd get tortured on TV or something.

Gregory was near the captain's quarters now. He could see all the blood on the floor, like Hansel and Gretel's trail of breadcrumbs, except more fucked up. Maybe he could get on the deck or the bowels or something, try and find someone who'd distract them long enough for him to get away.

"Ben! Ben, is there anyone nearby that I can-"

And that was when a figure popped out from a corridor Gregory had passed, pointed their gun, and hit their mark.

Again, a loud noise, and then a burning pain. This time, it was in his side, inside him, all over. Gregory let out a wheeze of pain, his hand clamping to the gunshot wound, feeling the wetness, the warm wetness, leaking out of him. Bile rose in his throat, and a sudden weariness overtook him. He had enough time to stagger into the captain's quarters before he collapsed.
