Sleep

This forest stretches far across the island, taking up a good chunk of it's landmass. There are a few well beaten dirt paths criss-crossing throughout, some obviously once used for some kind of vehicles. For the most part however, other than these roads the forest is relatively untraveled, most coming to the island for the more exotic features.

Sleep

[Yellow #4 - Marcus Walker. Concluded from A Day on the Water.]

He was back here again... and wished that he wasn't. Nothing had been touched since he was here with Anna the last time, and now he was back. Anna was the reason. Last time it was Anthony and the first time it was Devonte, but now it was Anna and he knew he'd be back again because of Jaszmine, when and if he found her. He hated this place. He wanted to turn around and walk away from it and forget about it, but he couldn't. These were his friends and this was their resting place, he couldn't just leave them behind. He couldn't just forget them all. He wished he could. He wanted to put all of this behind him and forget any of it ever happened. But he couldn't do that. It would follow him for the rest of his life... however long that was.

Laying Anna down and leaving her for only a moment at a time, Marcus gathered what he needed. It didn't take him long to start. It didn't take him long to finish, either. Before he knew it, Anna was buried alongside Anthony and Devonte. He wanted to say something, anything, but all he could do was stand there and stare at the graves. And he did just that for a long time before he said even a single word.

"Anna. Anthony. Devonte. I... I'm sorry."

He was so tired, so sick of the damn game. He just wanted it to be over and done with. He'd give anything to just get back home and be done. But he knew that wouldn't happen. He knew he wouldn't be going home, now or at all. He doubted if he even wanted to go home. He killed his own best friend after all. Sure, he was bleeding to death... but he still killed him. And he killed that other girl too. He wanted to get through this to get home to Laney and Grant, but now... now he didn't even know if they would want him home. He was a murderer. He was far from the role model he wanted to be for them. And his grandmother was bound to disown him for this.

He was just so tired. Of the game, of the crap that came with it, of everything. He just wanted to lie down and sleep.

He stared at the graves in front of him. Devonte's was there, the oldest of the bunch. Anthony was next to him, and Anna was there next to the both of them. Jaszmine was empty, but everything was there. And one last one, at the end... how long had he been working? He was so tired... his arms felt weak, and it was getting cold.

Maybe he could sleep... just for a while. Just a rest.

Lying down on that patch of dirt, Marcus stared up at the trees.

"I'm sorry... for everything. I'm so sorry."

Just a rest. Just for a little while.

Yellow #4 - Marcus Walker. Not waking up.
