The island’s old airstrip has been turned into a veritable fortress, with the AIS Pylons surrounding its perimeter in lieu of traditional defensive walls. The airstrip has a clear vantage of the port area of the island. Compared to the rest of the island it looks warm, cozy, and well-lit; but the inhabitants, when they will show their faces past the barrels of their guns and their thick winter gear, don’t look keen on sharing their comforts.
