Re: The Great Elsewhere

Martin’s vision focused in a little more, and he forced himself to be at ease, standing still and focusing on the unfolding conversation. Amanda spoke next, telling Holly about the proposed plan to go find people. She seemed unfazed by everything, naturally optimistic about their chances. Martin fou...

Re: The Great Elsewhere

Martin wasn't surprised. Nothing here. He'd suspected it from the moment he stepped inside. There wasn't going to be anything anywhere, was there? Probably because of the rules of this game. He didn't want anyone to have any unfair advantages except for the unfair advantage of getting a good weapon....

Re: The Great Elsewhere

Martin turned around. Roy, who had just apologized, and Amanda each checked a back room while Leo did nothing. Martin couldn't blame him. Well, he could, but he didn't feel like it. Still, keeping everyone involved would help things run more smoothly. "Hey, Leo, could you go check... something ...

Re: The Great Elsewhere

Roy and Leo were sniping at each other a lot more now, Roy because something had gotten to him and Leo because that was just what he did. Martin had let it happen until now because he figured everybody pretending to get along would be worse than openly voicing disagreements, but this was too much. H...

Re: The Great Elsewhere

Amanda replied first. Martin didn't have to specify his question, though, because Leo barged in next. "It's obvious, a bunch of retarded Americans, as redundant as that is, somehow got enough money and man power to do this." Martin stopped scanning the street for a few precious seconds. &q...

Re: The Great Elsewhere

Everybody seemed to be okay with the idea. Okay enough , more accurately. Amanda seemed to be doing relatively alright, but Roy was not in the best of moods, and Leo looked like he was just out of it. Martin would be lying if he said he didn't feel a little drained either. Dust was everywhere, stick...

The Great Elsewhere

((Martin Ricco continued from Uphill and Against the Wind )) Nobody. They had found absolutely nobody. As soon as they had left the Sheriff's office, they thought they had heard voices from across the way. The four of them went off in search of the source, but it was no good. The sounds were too int...

Re: Uphill and Against the Wind

Martin didn't have to wait long for answers. Amanda agreed with him. She was rather tentative about it, which Martin found odd because she kept getting to talk before he did. This time it was in response to Roy coming back inside. He would have wondered at Roy not having gotten the sense they were d...

Re: Uphill and Against the Wind

Martin took a look around the room. One by one, everyone had finished their searches, and they hadn't seen anything. Not even a pen. Dang it. Martin figured he'd take a few sheets with him anyway. About 5 would do. Someone might have a pen somewhere later. He felt compelled to speak up - he was the ...

Re: Uphill and Against the Wind

Martin found several desk drawers on the back of the desk, each of them empty. He got to the one on the bottom, tugging it like he had all the others, and found it was locked. "Hey, I found it!" He took one of the keys (upon closer inspection, both were identical, down to the numbers stamp...

Re: Uphill and Against the Wind

Roy took him up on the offer. "Sure, that'd work. Now, uh, there's uh... ten arrows here, okay?" Considering the retrievability of arrows, that would be more than enough. People started to scramble to look for things, but they were momentarily stopped when Roy set down his arrows and felt ...

Re: Uphill and Against the Wind

(Minor GMing approved by other handlers.) Martin listened as Roy expressed reservations about their situation. Who wouldn't? They had no idea whether what the guy on the train had said was accurate, whether they had any hope of rescue... no idea about anything. They did, however, have two more peopl...

Re: Uphill and Against the Wind

Roy sighed. To be honest, that's what Martin was expecting - his posture and look of resignation already had "sigh" written all over it. His admission of feeling terrible was no surprise either. Martin still wasn't entirely clear-headed, and it frustrated him slightly. He was used to firin...

Re: Uphill and Against the Wind

Martin got a reply back almost immediately, one belonging to Roy Benson. He waved back, trying to make sure Roy could see him, but Amanda actually replied first: "Yep, we're trying to put a group together!" That was pretty much what he wanted to say, actually. He added, "Yeah, it's ju...

Re: Uphill and Against the Wind

(Martin Ricco and Amanda Clearwater continued from Wait we do WHAT?! ) Martin and Amanda had been walking through town for quite a while. The whole scene felt unreal, most likely caused by the town's appearance resembling every movie cliche he could think of. He'd seen spaghetti westerns before, but...
