Pretty Vacant

The former inhabitants of the island seem to have been rushed from their homes in a hurry. Houses within the residential area are still filled with goodies and still hold a uniform and up-kept appearance. The rows of brick houses beg for a bit of chaos that the oncoming battles are bound to provide.

Pretty Vacant

((continued from Putting on the Ritz))

Justin had decided against going to the Church. He had a gut instinct telling him it would be a bad idea. Especially in somewhere as dangerous as this island was. Then again a residential district wasn't the best place either, because for all he knew someone could have a gun trained on him as he walked down the street, his head on a swivel.

What the hell?

Justin eyes came to a corpse laying about 15 feet in front of him. Justin noticed that there was a powerline down that was dangerous close to the puddle of water where the girl's corpse lay. He also noticed her pack was on the edge of the water.

I hate to do this, but it is called Survival of the Fittest for a reason.

He slowly walked forward, being wary of any of the puddles around. It had dried up pretty good, but the danger was still present. When he got to around 5 feet from the pack, and the puddle, he noticed a long large stick at his feet to his right. He picked up the stick, and carefully extended it towards the pack. Carefully, he slipped an end of the stick under the strap of the pack and pulled the pack over to himself.

Picking up the pack, he still felt somewhat guilty. He hadn't earned this daypack, but so be it. He quickly found a house that hadn't been severely damaged by the storm, and went inside. He opened up the dead girl's bag, and found a much more effective weapon than his to Chakram's. A bowie knife. Something that he could at least defend himself with that didn't take awesome frisbee skills to use.

He took the remaining food and water from the girls pack, before settling down for a quick nap. All the walking had made him tired.

The distinctive bassline from Another One Bites the Dust and the following announcement signaled to Justin that it would probably be time to move. Even though he was still in a safe sound, and that nothing in the announcement directly concerned him, other than the fact that one of his friends from school Dan Johnson had been killed, he knew that with having been on the island for seven days, people would be coming to this area looking for anything salvageable. People with more than likely better weapons than the bowie knife and and edged frisbees currently in Justin's possession.

"Well, I've had a perfectly wonderful evening, but this wasn't it." Justin said quoting the ever popular Groucho Marx.
