The weight of the flamethrower pressed heavily on Timothy's shoulders as he trudged through the shopping mall.
It had been hours since he had separated from Michael, and his frustration showed no sign of abating. It just wasn't fair. He had it all figured out. All they needed to do was stick together until help arrived. It wasn't like the plan was hard too understand or anything. Why couldn't the others just stick to it? If they hadn't split up back at the school, none of this would have happened.
Timothy sighed as he looked around for a place to sit and rest. After a while longer of walking, he sat down on the floor, leaning against the wall. It felt good to finally get off his feet for a while.
As he relaxed, he thought back to the others. He really hoped that they would make it, but things didn't really look too good for them right now. Maybe they would be able to meet up again later. The possibility lightened his spirits somewhat, unlikely as it was.
He took a water bottle out of his bag and took a long drink from it before putting it back. Right now, his first priority was to ensure his own safety. Maybe he could find a couple other people to stay with until rescue came. That would probably be his best bet.
That was, so long as there actually was a rescue coming. Timothy froze for a moment as he tried to get that thought out of his head. He definitely didn't want to consider that possibility right now.
