Those cracker's weren't as filling as Veronica thought they were an hour ago.

She had barely eaten in the days since she'd come to this island; at first it was ignoring the food entirely, and now it was fear of running out. Unless she could find some person's backpack or ration with someone else, she wasn't keen on wasting her supplies now. Besides, it wasn't that bad. At least not yet.

Veronica had eventually wandered over to an attraction a ways away from the amusement park it belonged to. It didn't take a detective to figure out what exactly the building was and how its atmosphere had been cranked up to eleven since it had been abandoned. The haunted house was made to look spooky and abandoned, and now that it was actually abandoned, it actually got scary. Bonus points for the bloody footprints outside and broken-in window. She doubted that the latter two were initially part of the scenery.

She climbed in through the window ('Why not? It's been used by someone before anyway.') and observed her surroundings. Yep. Those cheesy decorations were extra spooky now. Veronica decided to roam the building for supplies and maybe stay for a short while. She certainly wasn't going to stay long-term, but she could curl up somewhere safe for a quick nap. God, when was the last time she slept? Or pissed, for that matter?

She pulled out her flashlight and began roaming the area, wondering when was the last time she had taken a piss? Maybe she did it when she was in the cave; she had forgotten what had gone on in there. She might've done it subconsciously. Or maybe she didn't at all, considering the fact that she hadn't drank muc-

Red?

On the floor?

Oh god...

Her flashlight clattered to the ground.

She knew the girl all right. Her name was Lauren or Laurie or some variation of it. While Veronica herself didn't know the girl personally, she was familiar with most of the Aurora High School athletes, and she did believe that the girl was on the softball team.

It didn't matter, though; either way, the girl was dead.

She stood there in shock for a while before finally bending down to pick up her flashlight. It was soaked with blood, but Veronica really didn't pay attention to it. She averted the flashlight's ray from the girl's corpse, and skirted her body as she did a quick scan of the room.

Nothing about the room was peculiar outside of her corpse, though the bullet holes in the wall were unsettling. She found the girl's bag, and she quickly scooped it up before she could hesitate.

Satisfied and a little unsettled, Veronica left the room. She trailed a little blood as she searched the rest of the haunted house frantically. After finding nothing of value, she hurried off, not caring where her run took her.
