Hunger Beckons

Oneshot

The cafeteria for George Hunter High is on the left side of the main hallway of the school. It is a large space with many circular tables with chairs arranged around them. The food served is known for being of a higher quality than stereotypical school food. There is also a pair of vending machines at the back corner than dispense snacks and drinks respectively, alongside a water fountain. Microwaves are made available at lunch hours for the students who elect to bring meals from home.

Ned Jackson: Pregame Start

It was lunchtime and Ned was starving. Ned had overslept and had to skip breakfast, only having time for coffee before he rushed to the bus stop. Ned really needed some food. Usually, Ned would bring his own lunch to school, but figures, he forgot his lunchbox when he was rushing. Luckily, Ned had his wallet with him and about fifteen dollars to spare. When Ned got to the lunch line, it looked to be longer than normal. It could be that his hunger was causing him to hallucinate or more logically, there was a popular item on the lunch menu today. Either way, this was a total pain.

"Okay," huffed Ned, "let the waiting game begin."

He entered the line, humming the Teen Titans theme to himself as he checked his phone for any new uploads on Youtube. He needed some way to pass the time.

Ten minutes had passed and Ned had finally made it to the front of the line. Ned was so hungry it felt more like an eternity. And so, Ned paid for a packaged peanut butter and jelly sandwich and an apple, then went to the vending machine for a Dr. Pepper. With food in hand, he sought out a table to sit at.

The cafeteria was echoing from the loud chatting of many students. The tables and seats were crowded, with barely any open seats available. Great, Ned finally got his lunch, but now he was faced with a lack of seating options. Today has not been fun.

Annoyed, Ned left the cafeteria, in search of an alternative lunch spot.

(Ned Jackson continued elsewhere...)
