Storm in a Teacup

The school campus is very well maintained. The grass is always kept neat and short, and the hedges around the school are always kept trimmed. The sports fields are all in immaculate condition, and a nice quad area has been set up for the students outside, with tables, chairs, and a gazebo.

"Morgan, you can be such a Dork at times!" Jen laughed at him. Honestly, the whole "I'm happy cause I'm helping you" thing that just sounded so lame. And maybe a little bit needy. Of course part of her adored the attention, but the part that cared about him was a bit worried. She gently shook his hands off, and brushed her bangs back out of her eyes.

"Look, yes, you can be happy helping me, and you can be happy playing poker, but I'm talking about something more. There's gotta be some girl out there that you've got your eye on. Well, I promise that I'm gonna help you get her. We don't have much time left, so operation: Get Morgan a Girl is now a priority. And trust me, I can show you exactly how to work what you've got. All you have to do is tell me who."

Jen smiled at him warmly, to show that she was genuine about this. And she would be as long as it didn't interfere with her own life. If nothing else, the pair of them could start double dating, which opened up all sorts of possibilities in her mind. Yes, this project would be fun, for everyone.

Morgan grinned as he scratched the back of his head, "Yeah, I suppose you're right..."

He had screwed up, big time. Why wouldn't his heart and head just sync up to one another and just spit out these feelings bottled up inside. The longer he waited, the more likely it was that some other Mr.Right would come along and snatch her up, leaving him alone...

"There's gotta be some girl out there that you've got your eye on."

Hit the nail right on the head Jen...It's you...Surprise!

Morgan lamented the fact that he had talked his way into a situation like this. He was unsure of how we was to go about this, sure he could just say it now, but what about Edward? He was sure that admitting his love was going to have more than a few consequences, especially if he found out.

"All you have to do is tell me who."

Crap...

The distance between the rock and hard place he was stuck in had shrunk considerably. It would take a great deal of word-crafting to weasel his way out of saying a certain three-letter word. Perhaps there was a way though, and maybe it could provide a chance that he could still spend time with Jen and maybe actually build up the courage.

"Well," Morgan began, looking up at the sky so that it would look like he was thinking hard and not desperately trying to avoid the honest sincerity in her eyes, "I don't have anyone that I'm interested in, but I'd be glad to take any offer to help me out. Who knows, maybe I'll find someone and with your help I can go out with her."

"This should be fun. It'll be like Pygmalion, but on a boy." Jen was looking forward to this new project. Get Morgan out a bit more, socialising. Get him to dress a bit nicer, show off what he's got. Get him down the gym to tone up a bit more. She reckoned that she could make this boy Prom King.

Hang on, did she want that? No, she wanted to be queen, and whoever her boytoy f the moment was to be the king. And right now that meant Eddie. Eddie! Shit, the date!

"Highpockets, I'm gonna have to love you and leave you. If I want to do the Librarian look, then I'm going to have to spend ages putting my hair up. So that means starting now. Tell you what, you wanna meet me at the mall this weekend, we'll get you some new outfits, you can look over the girls, see what takes your fancy. It'll be fun, I promise." She reached up and kissed him on the cheek. With a quick "Ciao baby" she was off, already planning her whole evening with Edward Belmont. I just hope he's remembered.

Morgan was pleased to see that Jen didn't pry further into his interests. In fact, as he thought about it, maybe it would be a lot of fun. He could always use the confidence boost for people besides Jen. Or at least it would make it easier to talk to his classmates.

"Yeah that sounds great! I guess I'll see you Satur-"

Jen leaned in and kissed him on the cheek.

"Day..."

Morgan was very glad that Jen didn't stick around as he was pretty sure his left cheek was flaring up. He lifted his hand up to where she kissed him and, sure enough, his skin felt like it was on fire. In the brief instant that he was kissed it had felt gentle and moist.

Crap...

Why did she do that? Was she just saying goodbye? Did she secretly love him as well and wanted him to follow? Or did she know his feelings already and was just messing with his head? He needed to think on what just happened.

He quickly moved his hands over to his thermos and tried to desperately fill his cup, but nothing came out.

Oh god I'm empty...

He put his hand to his temple and began to massage it gingerly. What he needed to do was go home and play some poker. He needed to relax. With a heavy sigh he collected his things and walked home, his computer awaiting his return.
