Unlike the east side of the village, the west side of the housing has remained in much the same condition it was left in. The houses here are all in the same state as they were when they were first built, the identical houses all sitting in identical rows with the only difference being their color. The interior of the houses all share the same layout, with a shared living area/kitchen and a separate bedroom. The state of these rooms is surprisingly clean and consistent throughout the western side of the village as well, with all the beds appearing to have been made and the houses tidied, with chairs tucked into the kitchen table before the residents departed.

Sierra was startled for a moment by the sudden stirring and talking from Felix, taking a step back and going tense before relaxing again. Sierra inhaled, regaining her composure and trying to play off the fact she got spooked for a moment. She didn't want to show any signs of weakness someone might pick up on. Not while there was a death game going on.

"Right," she said, her stance relaxing and as she eyed Felix. "It seems you're okay. Sorry for the precaution, but I couldn't be too sure she didn't club you over the head to jack your shit or slit your throat while you were unconscious." She turned her attention to Charelle, her gaze now more exasperated by the situation than hostile towards the other girl in the room. "You don't need to throw your weapon away anymore. You didn't knock him out or tried to kill him, so whatever."

Then another figure entered the home, revealing themselves in full to her. Sierra was quick to jump back into a ready stance, facing the newcomer with her stun gun at her side in case this new person tried anything. The new girl — who Sierra couldn't place a name to — appeared to have some kind of shard with duct tape on it. Improvised weapon, or was that their assigned weapon. Didn't matter. It was dangerous either way.

As Sierra thought of ways to try and handle this situation, the new girl spoke or tried to. She immediately broke down into blubbering and stutters. Sierra just blinked in confusion, looking to Felix and Charelle to see if they understood what the hell was going on. Eventually the girl seemed to calm down enough to actually explain why the hell she was here, informing them that she heard a gunshot. Sierra glared at her. Was that all she came in her for? To tell them of a gunshot?

"News flash," Sierra thought. "This was Survival of the Fittest. Of course there would be fucking gunshots eventually."

"Okay, fuck it, whatever." Sierra groaned irritably, her mood worsening. She didn't want to go through the routine again of demanding she drop her shit and inspect her or whatever. She was burning daylight as it is and she wasn't feeling too comfortable of sharing a room with three people she didn't really know. "Thanks for the heads up, you, but I'm gonna get going."

She began moving towards the door of the house before stopping in the doorway to look at the three other people in the house.

"I hope you guys know how to deal with the wilderness, cause if you don't you're probably fucked." She stated bluntly. "You can come along with me if you want, but I'm not going to carry you guys. Or you can stay here. Or you can leave and get killed. I don't care which."

"Well, as fine I can be, I guess," Felix said, in response to Charelle's question. He still had a wicked headache but, luck permitting, he wouldn't pass out again. It seemed like the atmosphere was calming down a bit, which was nice.

The girl in front of him seemed to calm down as well, apologizing for jumping to conclusions. Good. Now that everyone was becoming more and more relaxed, he could-

His thoughts were interrupted by a voice from outside the house, blabbering about... something or other. After whoever it was became coherent enough to actually speak... well, words, she told them that she heard a gunshot.

"Great..." he muttered. He'd kind of expected something like that to happen, but he was hoping that they'd go more than... er, however long it was before the literal shots started being fired.

The girl in front of him turned to leave, before turning momentarily to say that they could tag along, if they wanted.

Would he take up that offer? His head was still spinning, though, and he didn't feel like he was in any condition to move.

"I... bluh. I might have to pass on that one, I think," he said.

Wow. Hey. Sweet. Charelle didn’t have to see what her weapon thing was now, doctor’s orders. Kinda felt dumb that it was only now clear that Charelle hadn’t gone all whammo on Felix here (because, like, it seriously was obvious, right?) but whatever, she was gonna try not to be salty. Situation was high strings and the dudes in charge of this prolly wanted everyone to be all high strings with one another so maybe being low strings was the way to go. No way she could figure out if it’d work until she did like, a concerto battle with everyone else’s strings but hey, least it fit in with the other big plan she was thinking of. No real way of telling whether that would work either, but hey, uh, life was full of surprises, and shit.

Yeah. Made a little bit of sense, so…

“I’ll stay with him, if y’don’t mind,” Charelle said to Sierra, the ‘him’ meaning Felix. “Still might need some help and plus, like, might be a good idea if I stick in these houses and shit. Seem like an easy place to hang out for a couple’a days.”

And hey, props where props were due, Felix and Sierra were doing a pretty good job talking to the girl outside. Ain’t no need for Charelle to get down on that shit.

That was one way of saying it. There was no tact, not a single kind word of encouragement, but she wasn't wrong. Willow was fucked over. The wilderness was already a merciless killer that killed through slow and insidious methods, mixed with her classmates that already started killing, Willow didn't quite stand a chance. However, Willow also happened to be ruthless in her own way. That's where she jumped on the prey.

"I'll come with you." She didn't stutter nor did she mumble. Willow never spoke so clearly. Charelle and Felix already said 'no' to the offer. That was on them. Willow needed someone to carry her. She lacked in strength, wits, and especially survival skills. That's where Sierra came in. Riding until the engine blows up, hoping it wouldn't hit her face.

"I'll get my stuff then I'll be ready to go."

She walked back to her bags. The pact was made. Willow clearly knew who was the boss in this situation. Sierra was, in almost every way, stronger than Willow. While she wasn't quite ready to bend the knee to Sierra, Willow didn't want to get on her bad side. The eggshells were set. It was time to walk on them.

Sierra looked over Felix and Charelle with a stare of cold indifference. They didn't want to come with her? That's fine. They'd likely only slow her down anyway.

Willow was the only one of the three who was willing to go along with her. She looked over her new ally with a scrutinizing look. Willow was short and scrawny, definitely not someone Sierra expected to hold their own in a physical confrontation. Sierra suspected that if Willow were to get into a fight she'd fold like a wet tissue. She suspected that Willow was only going to tag along because she thought she could rider her coattails throughout this whole game.

"Great," Sierra thought. "Gonna have to babysit this idiot..."

Sierra only made the offer for them to come with her out of polite courtesy, expecting them to pull their weight. She didn't really know these people so she wasn't exactly thrilled at the prospect of working with them in this situation, but beggars can't be choosers and there was safety in numbers. However, it was clear from the offset to Sierra that Willow was going to be functionally useless and slow her down, more so than Felix or Charelle. This girl would likely die on her own if she were left to her own devices, so Sierra endeavoured to tolerate her presence until she push her to enough to be useful. She was, after all, use to managing people with less talent or drive than her as captain of the school's Archery Team.

"Fine, let's go."

She turned away from the group and scooped her duffel bag off the floor, throwing the door to the house open and stepping back outside, mentally readying herself to face down whatever horrors she might encounter in Survival of the Fittest.

"Alright, see ya," Felix said, maybe just a bit too late as they were probably out of earshot of his comment by the time he said it.

His mind seemed to be clearing up just a little bit, at least.

"So... now what?" he said.

It was a pertinent question, he felt. Now that his mind was clearing up, the gravity of the situation was really beginning to hit him. Or maybe it was Sierra's attitude. Either way...

Felix stood up. As he did, his head spun, but Felix didn't topple, thankfully.

"Do you think maybe we should check the other houses?" he asked.

((Yuko Hayashibara continued from Just keep breathin' and breathin' and breathin'))

It was only a short walk to town. When they arrived there, they found rows and rows of houses that looked exactly the same aside from the color. Yuko thought it was creepy. For a moment she wondered who had lived here, who had built this, but the thought passed quickly. She had to focus on what was important. There could be other people in any of these houses. Maybe friendly, maybe not. Maybe her sisters.

Yuko walked down the street, at the head or their group. What should they even begin? Shouting for people would be risky. Searching the houses individually would take forever... and it'd probably also be risky. At least out in the open, no one would be able to sneak up on them. So, the choice was pretty clear to Yuko. She turned back to Demetri and Katrina and nodded, before clearing her throat and shouting out to the street.

"Hey! Is anyone in there!? We wanna talk, we won't attack!"

Yuko ran her hand along the side of her bag. She still didn't like the idea of walking around with her weapon out, and she hadn't even loaded it, but if things got dicey, she could still use it to scare people off. She really hoped it wouldn't come to that.

Okay, cool, so as a group they were still on board with the whole 'assume nobody is going to jump out of our blind spots and gun us down'.

Yuko was loud, damn.

((Demetri continued))

He swore he'd heard a gunshot when they'd been a ways up the trail. Must have been somewhere behind them- like, shit, what if Zach and lighthouse dude had gotten into some kind of anticlimactic mano y mano? With the shitty one liners and bleeding bullet holes.

Demetri realized belatedly that he didn't want to think about it- he assumed now that he'd just misheard that weird dry cracking noise as it's worst case scenario.

Looking strictly forward in both time and space, Demetri experienced a bit of deja vu. Possibly thousands of miles away on a remote and inaccessible island and Demetri was still haunted by cookie cutter suburban sprawl. He stayed quiet- he hadn't been sure what he had to say then and he certainly didn't know how to tack on anything relevant now.

((Katrina Lavell continued from Just keep breathin' and breathin' and breathin'))

Katrina clutched the sword close to her chest, holding it tight with both hands. It was a bit awkward to walk, seeing as it was quite long and her knees kept bumping into it, but she ignored it. She had to remember that, at any moment, someone could jump out and try to kill her and the people she was with, or she and her allies would have to kill them. She already knew she looked like a mess from waking up outside and crying a ton, but she didn't want to make herself look even worse by being drenched in blood. That never lined up with the look she wanted to go for as an individual, so she couldn't let it happen.

Fortunately for her, it looked like no one else was around. Maybe the island was bigger than they assumed and it would take days for them to come across anyone else. Maybe then they could just wait it out somewhere and wait until the government found them. They were finally in the town, or at least a village judging from the size, so there were probably hiding places galore.

Yuki shouted out to whoever was nearby, causing Katrina to freeze and let out a small yelp. If someone was nearby, Yuki just exposed them. She had no idea what kind of people could be nearby, but it wasn't dumb to assume to worse. The six previous iterations of this game and that memorial in DC showed it would always get worse.

"What are you doing?" she asked in a hushed whisper. "Shouldn't we be more careful?"

“Right.”

Sierra and Willow went out the door, while Felix and Charelle stayed on the floor. She was kinda tryin’ to not be all meme all the time ‘cause now really wasn’t the time to do that but it was high-key hard when the opportunities were like, all walking up to Charelle’s face and offering to write themselves for her. She just placed her headpower onto the bag, started putting the things she took out back in now that Sierra wasn’t here to randomly threaten her with a stun-gun. Knew that it was maybe a bit of a jerk move on Charelle’s part to say no to goin’ around with Sierra ‘cause she’d imagine it’d be kinda hard to not be all panic-y when shit was going down at a magnitude of this magnitude but eh, going ‘round with her for the last couple days of her life didn’t seem like all that fun a time. She would’ve rather stayed with Mr. Cool Magician dude, over here.

Speaking of:

“Maybe,” she said, moving away from Felix a little so he could have his personal space back. “Maybe later, though? Think both of us could stand to get stuff out of like, chilling, and stuff. Kinda getting all this in.”

Well, true fact was that Charelle could kinda go through all the other houses whenever, but Felix probably wouldn’t. Least until he was, like, totally better and stuff. No telling when that would happen but it was prolly best that she stick by him ‘til-

For a second, Charelle was almost about to respond to the voice hollerin’ on outside. For the next, she closed her mouth. Looked at Felix.

“You wanna call back to them or stay quiet?” She asked him, voice way down in a whisper. “I’m down for more people here, but we should probably make this like, a democracy. Have group decisions and shit.”

"Maybe later," Felix repeated.

It seemed like Charelle and he were on the same page. Or, well, the same train of thought, even if maybe not the same car.

Or maybe she was just looking for his health, which he could appreciate. He supposed that in a situation like this, that kind of companionship was invaluable.

And while it was true that he was getting better quickly, he was... eh, probably, not in the condition to do anything substantial just yet.

"I dunno," Felix said in response to Charelle's question. He'd heard the shouting outside, wondering what all the ruckus was. He'd briefly considered the possibility that whoever was outside was trying to get someone to come outside so that they could shoot them which is why he didn't immediately answer in the positive. His thoughts went to the gun in his bag.

If whoever was outside was planning on shooting, then not having the gun out would be a disadvantage. If they didn't, but they had a gun, then having his gun out could scare whoever it was into shooting.

"I'd say sure, but maybe make 'em come to us, you know?"

“A’ight.”

Not a ton to say about it. Felix was down to party, Charelle was down to party, now all she really had to do was hope the people outside were down to party the way they were down to party.

She paused. Shook her head on the inside. Couldn’t think that way. Def couldn’t in a place where all the cameras were going whirr ‘round her. She stood up. Moved towards the door. Didn’t open it, but:

“We’re in here! And safe! And stuff!” She hollered.

"This is the only way we're gonna find anyone here. It'll be alright, okay? I won't let anythin' bad happen." Yuko tried her best to keep Katrina from worrying too much. They wouldn't be able to find anyone if they acted all scared and hid from everyone. Yuko was also scared, but she knew she had to push through it. And, well, if her companions got too scared to move forward, she'd push them, too.

Her strategy was proven right when they heard a voice calling back to them from a house. It was a girl, but Yuko couldn't tell exactly who. Not Yuki or Yuka, that was for sure. Yuko nodded to Katrina and Demetri to follow along, and she marched towards the house where the voice had come from. Her eyes darted between all of the windows; it didn't seem like anyone was perched, waiting to shoot them. Good. Yuko went up to the door and gave it a few hard knocks.

"It's Yuko Hayashibara. I got a group here. Can we come in?"

The other way they were going to find people, Demetri idly reflected, was when they were all mercilessly gunned down and they ascended to heaven to meet up with all the other folks who got themselves an heroed before the first broadcast from Daniel or whatever that main terrorist guy went by.

Honestly, it wasn't even like he was that actually afraid. He kept lockstep with Yuko, charging forward into the unknown at the same speed she did. Maybe like, a half-step behind at absolute worst. He also kept his eyes open, inspected blind spots and corners with quick sweeps of his gaze, kept his footfalls about as light as his noodle legs could manage- all that tacticool shit. He almost felt useful, though of course he still had ample idle brain power to be commentating to himself all the way along.

Charelle- he recognized that voice. Yep, he recognized the girl he only knew as a friend of a friend at best from her voice as opposed to when he'd mixed up one of the triplets of one of his few kinda-close friends from her face. Shamefur display, etc.

Charelle was cool, he was pretty sure. Her music taste sucked- all three of those Zoophilia girls shared that in common- but Demetri was pretty sure Charelle wouldn't have the chutzpah to shoot any of them if she'd spawned on this island with a gun and a T-pose.

"It's Demetri, I'm in said group." A pause as he settled the sole of his shoe on the wall of the house, taking point right beside Yuko and watching a grimy window with vague suspicion. Whatever purpose that served. "If you don't want us to come feel free to blueball us- just let us know if you've seen anyone else first."

"And Katrina! I'm also here too!" Katrina blurted back.

Someone from inside the house had replied to the shouting from Yuko (okay, she was actually Yuko, not Yuki), which prompted both of Katrina's traveling companions to shout back. She had joined in without thinking. She wasn't sure if that was actually smart to do. Now whoever was inside would know it was them outside. She didn't know what kind of enemies Yuko and Demetri had back home or if any of them would be incensed that they were here. She knew Demetri probably had a lot of enemies, so the fact that it was a girl who replied to them was probably a sign of potential doom for him.

Katrina looked around. It didn't look like anyone else heard them shouting, so no one was running over to gun them all down. She could feel the sword shaking in her hands. She let out a sigh and turned back to the group.

"So, um, do we know who's inside?"
