Mass Destruction

Dawn, Day 5 (pre-announcement) (Open)

The Courtyard sits right under the largest glass dome of the Aviary, housing the turnstile and a small seating area around the notorious statue in the middle. Each room off it has Plexiglas walls, allowing you to see most everything the Aviary has to offer from just the courtyard, including a small gift shop with bird related items, as well as the ornate cages the birds were once held in. The office is the only room located on the second floor, giving it a view of the entire area.

No new information. Well, new, just not of the type that would let Kammy track Michelle down any better. Good to know that her girlfriend had people with her, still - Kam had started to worry that the entire group might have just peeled away, after her talk with other Cammy. It was at least a little to go on. That's how she had to look at all this, learning a little more each time, and hey, a couple days ago Kam hadn't known anything at all, so she was getting somewhere.

She had to, had to believe that she was getting somewhere.

Kam gave Bianca a slight nod. "That's fair. Guns sure aren't anything to laugh about," Kammy's was still held down at her side.

Bianca turned, called to whoever she was with. After a moment, they revealed themselves and Kam paused a moment. Noah, Noah... that really didn't ring a bell. Her head tipped to the side as she tried to place the boy. He looked familiar, weird for Kammy to recognise somebody and not remember their name. Noah... the name didn't seem to stick to the face.

It clicked.

Because that wasn't his name.

Under normal circumstances, it might have just been a case of it being someone Kammy only very vaguely knew, because they didn't really run in the same circles and only shared a couple classes. Where they were, what had happened, on the other hand... that made certain names stick in the head, and along with those names came the faces.

Theo, Theodore Fletcher, a triple killer - he'd done Kam one better, and spread apart at that. One accident, one crossfire, maybe that could be justified. Three?

Kam forced herself not to take a step back. He'd lied about who he was deliberately, trying to catch Bianca - and her, off guard. Why though, why deceive just one person and not try and kill someone who was unarmed? There was an angle here, and she couldn't figure it out.

"Hi, Noah," Kam said the name, hid her scepticism. "It's Kammy, if you didn't catch that."

She had to get out, and quick.

Bianca walked  into the gift shop and set the mugs on the counter. She should probably get more, but filling mugs was a tedious process. Bianca decided to ask Noah and Kammy's opinion on the matter, but when she stepped back into the main area, she tensed. Looking between Kammy and Noah, she knew she'd missed something. Noah and Kammy's body language had definitely changed.

Both of them looked like they were about to take off. Noah's reaction to Kammy was understandable, since he'd probably made the same connection Bianca had. Yet, why had Kammy introduced herself to him? Was that why Kammy was tense, waiting for his reaction? Those and more questions swirled through Bianca's head, but without more information she didn't have answers to any of them.

Always one to get to the heart of the matter she asked, "What's the matter? You two suddenly look very nervous. Is there something you'd like to share with the rest of the class?"

Theo was freaking out hard.

He had only a moment left before Kam unveiled him, revealed his identity and possibly killed him.

He needed to figure out what to do.  He couldn't let Kammy take action first, he needed initiative or she'd take him out with no chance for reaction. He could run, but there was only one way out of the building, so he'd need to get lucky to get out alive.

So what could he do? Talking his way out would be pretty difficult, given he wasn't exactly super good at lying. He was lucky to make it this far, and there was a good chance Kammy knew exactly who he was and wasn't about to buy anything he could throw at her.

What else? He could fight, go right at that gun and get control over it as quickly as possible, hopefully fight his way out. It might mean he had to kill Bianca or Kammy, though, but in the split second he made his decision, he had to ignore the dread the thought brought bubbling up yet again.

He charged Kammy, arms outstretched for her gun.

Bianca had picked up on the hitch in Kam's voice. Dammit. She couldn't afford to be giving those kinds of signals. She usually covered them up better, too; just tough to maintain a perfect front when she was under so much damn stress.

Best to try and salvage it.

Kammy put on the most genuine smile she could muster, easily practiced from hours on the stage. "It's nothing," she told the other girl. "Just Noah's not someone I reco-"

Definitely-not-Noah lunged for her, crossing the gap between them faster than Kam would've thought possible. Her hands were snapping up, and she might even had been shaping to fire on instinct, fire knowing that whatever Kam had done, Theo WAS a killer, and multiple times at that, knowing that that was one bullet she wouldn't feel guilty about firing-

Theo cannoned into her and Kammy stumbled, rocked, but stayed on her feet. Theo was taller than her, but he was skinny, Kam had the weight and a lower centre of gravity. Thin, grasping hands wrestled for the pistol, and Kammy clung to it grimly, the pair stumbling back and forth. Couldn't let go, not if she ever wanted to see Michelle again.

"Fuck off!" she barked succinctly, trying to stamp on Theo's foot.

"Not someone..." before Bianca could even finish her question her classmates sprung into action. Bianca blinked trying to process why Noah was attacking Kammy. Didn't he know she's already killed at least one of their classmates? And that was just the information the announcements had given them. Who knew how many more she'd attacked.

"Wait, what are you doing," she asked rushing towards them afraid for Noah

She wedged herself in between them, trying her best to force them apart.

"Stop, this, someone's going to get hurt," she said trying to talk some sense into them.

As Theo wrestled with Kammy over the gun, his mind conjured up an image of an octopus and a sperm whale fighting; he was the octopus, gangly and grasping, and Kammy was the whale, larger and more stable. He immediately realized that Kammy was not an easy target; he should've known better, she had killed 2 people, she wasn't like anyone he'd fought before.

He'd never been in a fair fight.

Theo was suddenly assaulted by Bianca, who appeared at random to try and get between the two, yelling to stop. Theo paused to look at her, and suddenly Kammy's shoe slammed down on his toes. "Ow, Jesus!" He pulled his foot out from hers, and spotted an opportunity.

Grapping the gun with a darting hand, Theo found the trigger. A series of shots went off, deafening. His arm was jerked roughly by the recoil, and he released his grip on the handgun. He didn't see where they went, but hopefully that would be sufficient distraction.

He pulled away from Kammy and made for the door, fleeing again.

It turned into a mess of struggling grappling. Theo was all flailing limbs, wriggling this way and that as Kammy tugged and pulled herself. Not losing her grip, but not gaining ground either. Dammit he was strong - she should've expected him to pull something like this, backed out as soon as she realised who the guy was, or at least hidden things better.

Bianca was there now too, running interference between them. Not appreciated. Bianca was naive to who Theo really was, not naive to Kammy... but Kam knew why she herself had done what she had, barely came out ahead of Theo, morally, but he was the damned aggressor here-

A slithering finger slipped underneath the trigger guard, over Kam's hand, and before she knew what had happened, the gun was firing once, twice, three times, shots ringing in her ears and deafening her. Kammy couldn't help flinching, and Theo took the opportunity to bolt. Kam's hand snapped up and on instinct she fired at Theo's fleeing back. The shot was wild, wide, slamming into the plexiglass wall alongside the aviary's entrance, creating a crazy mosaic of cracks. He was gone before she could adjust her aim.

"Bianca that was Th- Bianca!"

Bianca jumped back as the gunshot sounded. She wondered why Noah was running away from her. Why had he and Kammy been fighting? She didn't get much further in her musings when the pain started. Bianca gasped as the pain in her back began to grow. The pain quickly became overwhelming and she dropped to her knees. Looking down, she saw that her white shirt was now a bright red. The stain seemed to start just to the left of her heart. Bianca looked around trying to figure out what she was supposed to do. Some this hadn't been covered in health. Calm, she had to stay calm. 'Take deep breaths,' she reminded herself. Bianca found that she couldn't follow her own advice. Her breaths started coming in short gasps.

She looked up at Kammy. "I...I should have run once I saw you had a gun," she said softly. "Guns seemed to have followed me around and were always going off around me."

Bianca coughed and felt drops of blood hit her lips. She lay back, suddenly feeling very tired.
"Sleepy," she explained to no one in particular, closing her eyes. She opened them again and knew something had changed, but couldn't focus long enough to figure out what.

"Feels good to sleep," she said. She watched the rain pour down the glass ceiling for a few minutes. She drifted off to sleep thinking about her past boyfriends and wondering if any of them would mourn her. Her final thoughts were of her mom and who was going to take care of her now.

Kammy stood there frozen for a moment, staring down at Bianca, slumped down, still upright on her knees, but the blood... that was a lot of blood. Kam's head was throbbing, the retort of the gun setting the pain right back to square one. She bit down on her lip, trying to sharpen her concentration. Bianca was hurt bad, the bullet hole almost dead centre of her chest. Kam couldn't afford to let the pain distract her. There had to be ... had to be something that she could do.

Her bag swung from her shoulder and she started rummaging through it, come on, she'd just used the medical supplies earlier, they can't have shifted around that much- Kammy stilled as Bianca spoke up, quiet, faint, the accusation unspoken, but clear enough. If you hadn't come here, this wouldn't have happened. If you'd called Theo out, he wouldn't have had the chance to try grab the gun.

Bianca slipped back and Kam was moving, catching her head before it could smack against the floor. Lowering the other girl now, eyes roving desperately up and down. She just- fuck! This was out of Kammy's league, this needed a professional, not someone who had maybe listened to their girlfriend talk about first aid a couple of times.

"Bianca- Bianca! Keep your eyes open, you need to keep your eyes open. Don't go to sleep, you can't let yourself sleep. I know it's hard, but if you do-"

Bianca's eyes were staring unseeing, she herself unhearing. Kammy fell quiet as the other girl slipped away, bit by bit, and finally, she stopped breathing.

Kammy crouched there for a long while, Bianca's blood covering her hands - she didn't even remember when she'd tried to pressure the wound, didn't remember much of any of the last few minutes.

She... had to move.
