You can't turn back the hands of time...

Some woods overcrowded with trees. Watch yourself here... who knows who will be hiding behind a tree, prepared to kill?

((Continued from: Rediscovering Andrew Lipson...))

To many, on the eighth day of the 'competition' known as Survival of the Fittest, delerium was beginning to set in. Others had almost given up on any hopes of finding their way off of the island, and still others had more determination than ever. Adam Dodd couldn't figure out where he stood in that group. While he was determined, all right, he still couldn't help but wonder if getting off the island was even a possibility at all. Of course, as Lipson had told him, there were over one hundred kids, and there were now thirty or so, none of whom had been able to make it off. So did escape really seem like a legitimate possibility? He couldn't tell. Of course, the other reason that Dodd probably couldn't tell was because he was high as a kite, the tranquilizers now working all the way through his system, Dodd having to fight them simply to stay awake. As such, his mind was refusing to cooperate with him, and as he wandered through the woods, aimlessly, he knew that sooner or later, his luck was going to run out, and he would pass out. Of course, as he stepped through the forest, he figured that the Woods was likely as good a place as any to pass out, unless there was another announcement and it became a danger zone.

"Son of a bitch..."

Stumbling through the brush of the woods, Adam cursed to himself. He had strayed from the trail and was definitely a little lost. Add to the fact that he really had no idea as to where he was going, and it made for a definitive formula for getting lost. Stepping around a big rock, Adam tripped over a branch, and to his horror, saw that there was somewhat of a hill leading down to a wooded valley below. Clutching his Uzi tightly, Adam braced himself for the impact, and grunted as he tumbled down the long hill. As he rolled, his mind began to stop functioning, to which Adam had to increasingly force it to think. To pass out now would be deadly.

Dragging himself up off the ground, Adam stumbled around and took a few steps, pushing past a tree. To his surprise, a boy stood there, seemingly engrossed in his own thoughts, a motorcycle propped up on a tree beside him. Adam, deary, and unable to function, grinned stupidly, saluted the boy, and looked at him.

"Wo-wonderful weather we're havin'..."

With that, Adam Dodd passed out, collapsing on the ground, leaving the boy in front of him likely very bewildered. Of course, upon second glance, the boy might not be all that bewildered, but rather - overjoyed. For the boy was the one person on the island that Adam Dodd had sworn that he would murder in cold blood - Cody Jenson.

((Continued from: And so it begins...))

Cody stood in his spot for several minutes, looking all the more like a statue in the tranquility of the woods. His hand slowly fondled his chin, and you would not know by looking at him that a raging battle was being faught in his mind.

Kill him! he's here! Its what you are here for!

No, this isn't right, it was supposed to be a battle...

Who cares! He is here for the taking! The great Adam Dodd, you killed his bitch, now you are going to kill him! its how it is supposed to be!

No...no...It shouldn't be this easy...I'm not prepared for this yet...

Cody began circling the fallen hero cautiously, making sure that this was not some kind of clever trap that only a deviate mind such as Adam Dodd could come up with. He approached slowly and kicked away the Uzi that had fallen from the boys hand, making sure that it was well out of reach if he suddenly jumped up and attacked. When he was satisfied that Adam was indeed unconscious, he returned to his origional spot, once again pondering what to do.

* * *

After what seemed like several hours, Cody had made his decision. He walked towards the fallen Dodd, hatchet in hand. He stood over the helpless body of the greatest hero SOTF had ever seen, and without further ado, buried his hatchet in the back of Adam Dodd's head.

With a sigh and a gurgle, Adam Dodd's short but eventful life ended.

Boy NO. 77 - Adam Dodd, Dead

* * *

After what seemed like several hours, Cody had made his decision. He walked towards the fallen Dodd, hatchet in hand. He then knelt down next to him, and, pulling down his shirt, began removing the bandage that covered one of the wounds dotting Dodd's body. He then reached in to his pack and removed a fresh bandage, placing it over the open wound.

What a strange dream. I sure hope it doesn't end like that...

There will be a battle, and there will be blood, but not tonight boyo, not tonight.

OOC-haha I had to guys, sorry for the brief heart attack.

Things hadn't been the same for Adam Dodd since he'd been put in the game known as Survival of the Fittest - that much, he was sure of. But as he dragged himself up off of the soggy forest floor, he had to admit to himself that he was amazed to still be alive. He would have figured that after what would undoubtedly be a long sleep thanks to the tranquilizers, he would have ended up in some danger zone, and had his neck explode. Instead, he dragged himself up off the ground, feeling as though his whole body weighed one thousand pounds. Glancing around, he anxiously rubbed his neck, massaging the dirty skin that had gathered a whole eight days worth of dirt. Picking up his uzi that had undoubtedly fallen to the ground when he'd fallen, he saw no sign of the boy he'd collapsed near, nor of anyone else for that matter. It was then when his eyes went wide, and his hand flew back up to his neck. The collar that had previously surrounded his neck, threatening to blow his own head off - was gone. Glancing around at the ground, Adam soon located the device, it had been covered by some leaves that he'd disturbed as he pulled himself off of the ground. The collar was off, did that mean that the game was over?

Cautiously walking through the woods, he headed towards the edge, hoping to find at least someone who might know what had transpired since he'd been out. As he was just about to cross from out of the woods, he spied movement to his left. Twirling around and aiming his shotgun at the movement, the hard look on his face evaporated as he stared into the grizzled face of what looked to be a United States military seargeant. Looking the man over, Adam knew that he had caught the guy by surprise, and evidently, the man hadn't been expecting anyone. The stitching on his shirt identified him as 'Sgt. N. Davidson' and the startled look on Davidson's face was priceless. Dropping his rifle immediately, the soldier (almost uncharacteristically, Adam thought) turned to look into the face of the battle-weary teenager.

"Hey, hey...don't shoot...you're Adam Dodd, right?"

Adam's surprise registered on his face as he kept the gun pointed at the man, but felt his face lighten considerably. This could potentially be a trick, something Danya was laying on them, but...

"Yeah, I am. The fuck're you?"

Smiling weakly, the soldier looked Adam up and down and indicated the gun in Adam's hands.

"My name is Nicholas Davidson. I'm a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. Me and my unit were dispatched here when Danya and his terrorists abandoned this installation. Adam, the gane's over. You won, and he left. Everyone else...everyone else is dead."

Adam's shock was evident in the way that he let the shotgun drop to the ground. Could it be true? Could the game be over? Had, while in his passed-out state, he actually managed to out-live all of his fellow classmates? It seemed impossible, but for it to actually be true...

---

As he lay on the ground in front of Cody Jenson, Adam Dodd seemed to sleep peacefully, a little moreso now that the bandage on his arm had been changed and disinfected. A slight shiver had been creeping up on him, but as the bandage was now changed, the arm felt slightly better, even though Adam kept on into unconsciousness...

((Continued from the Well; Swing Life Away...))

Lucinda had been walking for what seemed like hours on end, checking her map every few minutes as to make sure she didn’t end up in a forbidden zone and have her game end with her throat being ripped apart by a powerful explosion via the metal collar circled about her throat. The thought of that made her stomach jump into her throat lightly, though held back all thoughts after that… the last thing that needed to happen was her losing what little lunch she had in her at this point. Though it wasn’t like the issued bread and crackers where actually good… though at least it was something the lack of food, water, and sleep was pushing down on her will though. The more this went on, the more weak she seemed to get, at the start of this game carrying her issued weapon a great axe was of little problem for her to carry around, it getting easier by the third day. Though it seemed the more time that went on, the harder it was becoming.

Sooner or later it seemed like, if no one claimed the position of winner by taking everyone else out, they’d all end up dying from the lack of things their bodies needed. Well, water probably wouldn’t be so much of a problem, as long as the waterfall and well didn’t become forbidden zones anytime soon in the near future. Food on the other hand, was a bit harder to come across. There didn’t seem to be many animals, besides bird, and maybe fish. Though every corpse she had come across since departing from the well, if their daypacks happened to be near, she’d ignore the look of their dead forms rotting in the mid-day sun, no longer her former classmates and instead food for the hungry birds of the island. The killers of the before mentioned killers some had been through and taken the contents of the daypacks of the ones they murdered with them, some on the hand skipped over that part completely. This is what allowed Lucinda to get only a few extra pieces of food, and another water bottle, but nothing that would last her another week on this island.

Then again, besides the growing lack of what her body needed to survive, another growing factor against her was not only the terrorists that had been let lose on this island, but the lack of students left alive. As the numbers grew less and less, the more frantic everyone would become for a chance to survive and get off this island, and the more she had thought on this topic, the more she wanted it as well. To be able to go home to her mother and father… to her life, and out of this hell of a reality she had become a part of, and had been living in for a week and a day now. The thought was nice, and something she was sure herself and all her classmates would love to happen. But that would mean killing more of her classmates and the other students that where on her. But… there was another way that Danya had offered to them… if she could kill one of the terrorists she could get a one-way ticket out off this island. But could she? It wasn’t a question of knowing these people… or something to that nature. It was a question of these terrorists weren’t normal high school students… they were trained military soldiers that wouldn’t hold a thing back when killing them.

Sighing, and shaking her head to remove her mind from her light thoughts she glanced about the small man-made path she was currently walking on, one of the many that branched off the main one that ran from one end of the island to the next, and into an area completely ghosted over by trees an area of the island that the people in charge of this had so cleverly named ‘The Woods’ on their maps. Pausing briefly she allowed her form to stop in her brisk walking, and fall against the hard bark of a large tree, her breathe coming out in a rugged pattern. Luci blinking lightly as she pressed a hand against her forehead, she felt a bit hot. Then again, everything seemed to be hot as well. So to Lucinda, as well as the lack of medical knowledge under her belt, she was unable to tell if she was coming down with a fever or was just hot from walking in the sun all day. Though the shade from the trees she was now under was making it easier on her. Removing the map once again, she checked over the grid-like patterned map, before glancing up and around checking the area itself.

Confirming her location more or less she pushed herself up off the tree she had rested herself against, and began a slow walk through the area of trees and overgrowth. As time passed on, it felt more like she starting to drag her legs… they had begun feeling so heavy. The trek through the woods was as tiresome as before, though this time without a lot more bodies. The last time she had been in the woods was back on Day Three and she had stumbled across the paled form of Edward Rommel. She had remembered him from school, remembering how they had even shared two classes together, Literature and World History. Remembering that he had also helped out the German Language teacher in tutoring some the German course students, she never had him help her as she had choose French over Spanish, and German.

But that had been five days ago, and she could over wonder what the elements and animals had done to the former classmate of hers. The other bodies here in the woods as well, least the ones she had come across had already begun to rotting and the smell of dying flesh as well as the overpowering smell of old and new blood floating about the area almost brought her onto her knees. It made her stomach clenched, and once again brought the nausea into her throat. Halting in her steps and bringing a hand about her mouth in an attempt to once again keep her food down. The aches all about her body just brought more and more pain on her and made it all worse. More moments passed of her just standing in place, hand covering her mouth in a attempt to keep everything down, Glancing faintly too her left once the smell and feeling subsided into the back of her mind, two or three feet away the flat ground took a rather sharp incline downward. Going flat once more after another few feet of a drop, Lucinda blinking softly as something laying at the bottom of the hill, the still form of someone… no doubt another dead body, though at this distance she couldn’t tell who. Only their legs where visible to her at the moment, and from what she could see what seemed to be a puddle of blood darkening about them.

Eyeing her general area in a quick motion, she moved off to her left and toward where the drop began. Looking down it somewhat, before gulping and removing her daypack from her shoulders. Shoulders twitching as the tough material of the bag rubbed against her bare and somewhat raw shoulders. Which where starting to resemble the darkening red mark in the form of hand-prints about her throat, a sigh escaping her as she lifted it some and tossed it downward first. Flinching somewhat at the sound it made as her axe and the knife she had taken from Sven’s bag clanging against one another. Gulping once more she moved against the ground, and started making her way down the hill. Wanting to take this slow and not spend the next few minutes falling down this. Moving slow, fingers digging into the ground in order to keep her balance she made her down the slope, and after a little while (and almost falling twice) Lucinda pulled herself up onto her feet as she finally reached the bottom. Lifting herself up and brushing away what patches of dirt that had got onto her clothes, finishing this and making her way over to where her bag that landed. Grapping onto one of the straps and pulling it up against her side as she turned and overlooked the fallen body, casting over it lightly from what she could see the body was deathly pale. And the smell of blood was stronger than before, no doubt because of the object jutting out from his throat.

Glancing away she focused now on locating the daypack of this fallen, possible classmate of hers, but after a few moments of searching and turning up empty handed she sighed and began moving back toward where the body was. 'Even if his bag isn't here, I can at least use whatever someone stabbed into his throat. Might be another knife, but it's better than nothing.' Lucinda muttered to herself in though. Not to happy with the thought of what she was about to do, but... if she wanted to live a little longer. Collecting weapons where one of the smarter moves, like Adam had. Though she would be armed with only a axe, and two knifes, he on the other hand looked like a walking gun store. Pressing thoughts aside for the moment, he approached the body, looking over lightly... she hadn't had the chance to see his face before now. Having made sure to but a distance between herself and his body, though standing there at his side. It almost felt as with her heart had been ripped into two right then and there...

The body lying before her was not longer that of her classmates, one she knew well... but also that of the person she had been pretty much searching for these past eight days. "Ryan...?" Hardly a whisper, but it didn't matter, no matter how loud she'd get or how much she yelled. He wouldn't answer anyway, finally feeling her legs give way she collasped along side his form. Feeling something wet start to soak through the fabric of her jeans. But she didn't care, she couldn't care... how could she? The person she all but harbored feeling for was lying here... dead, and she couldn't do a damn thing about it. A whimper of sorts escape her lips, sounding somewhat like a hurt animal, words and thought unable to form and come together, she unable to do anything with her body but sit there and stare. Like that was going to do anything, her chest clenching she could feel a wetness sliding down her cheeks but at this point she couldn't tell if it was out of the sheer sadness, or if it was the anger welling up inside of her.

Another whimper escaped her throat as she fell forward a bit, curling into herself as Lucinda buried her head into her arms, body shaking as she sobed. "Why...? You were the only reason I had bothered trying to stay alive this long. And now... now... you're dead!" She yelled against her arms, sobs racking her body still. "Why... why did this happen, how could it. This wasn't supposed to happen, none of this was. This just isn't real, yeah that's it... this isn't real." She mummbled, feeling her willpower breaking down and dissolving into horrid sobs once again. Gulping what felt like a lead ball down her throat before continuing."But this is real, isn't it? You're just another name and number on thier list, they where right, this game... only one person is going to win. There will be no escapes, the government isn't coming... no one is coming. The only way we can survive this is to be the last one. I knew this was going to happen, I knew. But I didn't let myself believe it, but now... I...." She muttered against her arms, sobs choking her every so often. Though after a while of crying herself sat up once again, the look of confusion and sadness gone and replaced with a determination.

"And you know what?" Lucinda said softly, smiling sadly at the lifeless corpse. "I'm going to do it... I'm going to be the last one here. I'm not going to become just another faceless person and number on thier list of the dead, I'm not going to make my parents cry. I'm not going to die here, I'm going to die old and happy. I won't let them kill me, and I won't let anyone else either." This said, she lifted up a bit, glancing over the lifeless face of Ryan once more. Reaching over with a somewhat shaky hand, and moving to close his eyes. Closing her eyes briefly after and muttering a small pray her mother used to say with her before going to bed when she had been small. Finishing, she reached down, taking the handle of the knife into her hand and yanking hard, it coming out with the shot of blood. Stopping as soon as it started, leaving only some blood flowing out of the wound.

Dropping the arm against her side, Luci breathed out a little. Keeping the smile pressed against her lips, "I will survive this... I'll get back whoever did this to you, I promise that much. Even if my only means of survival means killing off the rest of the people on this island... terrorist, our classmates, and even those kids I don't know. I'll do it... I'll do it." She said, lips forming a thin line as fists clenched lightly. "No one is going to stand in my way of winning this... no one." That said, she pushed herself up onto her feet, keeping the blood-stained blade in hand. "I'll hope the afterlife, where ever it is we end up, I hope it's a lot better than this place."

Still crying none the less, she turned away from the corpse and began moving. Oddly enough when she had been crying she thought she had heard noises up another hill from where she was. Lucinda looking it over, before starting up it, using the dagger as means of keeping her from slipping and falling. Climbing a lot harder than going done, she reached the top in a couple of minutes, standing upright and glancing about before she began walking. Soon coming across an odd scene, a boy she had never seen before, and the other being the form of Adam lying sprawled out against the ground. The other boy seeming to be busy fixing a number of bandages about Adam's body, pursing lips in thought she made sure to be quiet as she bent down to hide amongst the bushes, knuckles white as she gripped the knife.

Adam Dodd sat in the closed confines of the helicopter as the medic patched up the wound on his arm. He hardly felt the needle going in and out of his skin as he gazed out the window and down to the island that was growing increasingly smaller as the chopper flew away from it. Adam hadn't said much of a word since the soldiers had picked him up from off the island, and amidst all of the questioning, he found that for the first time in almost two weeks, he just didn't have much of anything to say. Just reflecting back upon all of his dead friends, and the fact that he was still alive...it just didn't feel right. Something was amiss, he could feel it.

---

Back in the real world, the body of Adam Dodd groaned a little as the tranquilizers began to cease their effects, and Adam's body began to grow a little stronger. He would wake up relatively soon, but he still kept dreaming...

As Cody unwrapped the last bandage he had for use on the unconscious Adam Dodd, his eyes darted across the gloomy wooded landscape. An intruder right now would not only be unwelcome, he would be downright dangerous to the fragile plan already beginning to form in Cody's mind. He placed the bandage on Adams shoulder, discarding the already sodden one that he had put on only several hours before. After finishing the bandageing job, he skirted over to where Adams pack had slid off, and began viewing its contents. Codys jaw dropped when he saw the arsenal Adam had amassed. There were at least 5 pistols, a shotgun, several melee weapons...

How many people has this man killed

A chill arose in Codys chest as he thought of this redheaded boy hacking through masses of children, a sadistic grin plastered on his now innocent face.

And what happened to his other girl? there were two if I remember correctly.

Cody sat pondering these and more questions, hoping Adam would wake up soon so they could talk. Until then though, he lay against a tree, pistol and hatchet in hand, quietly gazing across the forest.

* * *

Young Cody sat at the kitchen table, feasting on a plate of roast beef and mashed potatoes with gravy. His mother was bustling around the kitchen doing things that only mothers do.

"Cody, would you like a glass of milk?"
"Sure" Cody replied with his mouth full.

Cody had noticed his mother putting on weight since the divorce, and she seemed a bit more weary at times, but other than that, he thought nothing of it, and after finishing his dinner he went outside to see if he could get a game of roller hockey going with some of the neighborhood kids. He did not notice, however, his mother immediatly grab a box of twinkies and shove the entire contents into her mouth, plasitc and all.

6 months later

"Cody! make me a sandwitch!"

Cody frantically prepared his mothers lunch, nearly tripping as he walked to where she was laying on the couch. His mother had ballooned over the last several months, and now weighed roughly the same as a small whale. She was bedridden on the couch, as she could no longer fit in through the doorway to her room. Cody brought the tray to her and set it in front of her, helping by placing the sandwitch near the edge where she could nibble at it with her teeth. her arms no longer could reach up to her mouth, so she required assistance eating.

"This Judge Judy is a tough woman, she just told that cheating lying man there to apologize to his wife."

Cody wiped up a bit of spittle from the corner of her mouth, after which she continued.

"Cody all men are lying cheaters at heart, but some are able to repress those tendancies. I believe you can be one of those men."

"Ok mom." Cody said, placing the sandwitch close to her mouth so she could take a bite.

"You are going to make a girl very happy someday."

3 months later

Cody grabbed a jar of peanut butter out of the pantry. The people at his mothers work had begun sending them food, as his mothers disability leave had run out and they were out of money. He began making a peanut butter and jelly sandwitch when he heard his mothers snores coming from the living room. He finally decided he had worked up the courage, and walked in to the living room. His mother looked like a large pink slug, taking up nearly the entire couch. The entire house reeked of her BO and feces, as she had not been able to get up to go to the bathroom in at least a month. He gently shook her to wake her up, and as she opened her eyes, he held up the peanut butter. She looked at it lustfully, and nodded as she opened her mouth. Cody began spooning large spoonfuls of peanut butter down her tired gullet, hearing her grunt pitifully as she chewed the peanut butter. He continued spooning, and she continued chewing, and he picked up the pace as he went. He began scooping the peanut butter out by hand and slapping it on her face, covering her nose with the sticky substance. He continued to feed her even as she began choking. He continued to feed her as she began vomiting. He continued to feed her even after she stopped breathing, until the peanut butter container was empty.

"Eat up mom, the lying cheating man here wouldn't want you to starve."

"Adam, you're not really safe, you know that, right?"

Adam's view instantly shot from the window of the helicopter to the voice that had seemed to appear out of nowhere, but in fact was actually sitting directly across from him - the voice of Andrew Lipson.

"Wh-what do you mean? I have no collar, I'm surrounded by military men, and I'm on a plane back to the US...?"

Andrew, who again, seemed to be as right as rain, with no wounds to speak of, and no wheelchair anywhere in sight, shook his head and rolled his eyes at Adam.

"You THINK you're sitting in a chopper, you THINK you've won this game, truth is, you haven't even come close. Well, you've come a lot closer than I have, but you ain't there yet, man."

Adam scratched the back of his neck and gazed at his friend, a perplexed look on his face.

"So you're telling me that I'm dreaming this whole situation, that none of it really happened? That I'm dreaming this whole thing, what? Am I back at home in my bed, about to wake up from a really shitty nightmare? Come on, man! Don't fucking talk in sequences- no, don't talk in riddles, man!"

Andrew Lipson smiled at his friend, and looking at the chopper, blinked his eyes. Much to Adam's surprise, as soon as he blinked, the two were back in the woods, sitting on a couple of rocks, seemingly in the middle of a large, wooded area. Adam's shoulders fell, and he groaned in aggravation.

"You've gotta be fuckin' kidding me..."

Lipson smiled.

"Listen, Dodd. If I've ever told you something in your entire life, at least let me pass on some info from beyond the grave. You've got a damn fine chance to win this thing, to go home and see your folks again. There's maybe thirty people left on the island, and you're probably the most well armed. You aren't wounded too badly, though I'd change that bandage sooner or later, if I were you, and frankly, you've got a lot of people's hopes riding on you. What your mindset is right now, the whole...'yo, I'm Adam Dodd...fuck this shit, I'm almost giving up'...this kinda bullshit is going to get you killed, man. You're gonna end up just like the rest of us. And bro, I don't want that to happen. You've gotta pull yourself together, and pick up that same smart-assed, sarcastic Dodd that we've seen before, and go out and fucking win this thing, man!"

Adam looked at his friend, nodding slightly at the words coming out of his mouth.

"Thirty, eh?" He nodded again. "I...I can do that..."

Lipson grinned a toothy grin.

"Good! Now fucking WAKE UP!"

---

Groaning a little, Adam Dodd slowly became aware of the fact that he was propped up against a rock. This was evidenced quite a bit by the fact that a portion of the rock was digging into the small of his back. Stretching his neck, he blinked his eyes open, immediately shutting them again, unused to the amount of sun that his eyes were taking in. Blinking a few times in order to get used to his surroundings, Adam gingerly put his hand up to his face and rubbed his eyes. He felt as though he'd taken five Neo-Citrans and truthfully, felt as though he'd been hit by a truck. As his hands brushed the collar around his neck, Adam's eyes went wide as he realized that he wasn't holding any of his weapons. Looking around with concern, he saw his pack a few feet away from him.

Oh, great, wonderful. I've passed out, fallen asleep, and been robbed by someone, who figured it would be took easy to kill me, and opted to let the animals pick me apart. Fucking GREAT!

However, as he looked towards his pack, he saw another person sitting across from him, against a tree, seemingly waiting for him to get up. As Adam shook his head and came to grips with his vision again, he saw that in fact, his Uzi was lying a few feet away from him, close to his pack, and his shotgun was in fact still beside him. Looking at the boy, he didn't say anything, but simply just stared. He was amazed, that in this game, there were still some people who seemed to not be playing. If this boy were playing, then why he waited for Adam to awaken...

...and as he looked to his arm, in his shock, saw that his bandage had been re-done, with a completely fresh bandage on. He had recalled the words of ...someone, he couldn't remember whom (Lipson? Or Hawley, perhaps?) telling him that he needed to change that bandage, but it looked as though someone had already beaten him to the punch.

Looking over the boy sitting opposite him, Adam couldn't help but think that the boy looked oddly familiar. Probably had been someone he'd seen in school, but to that he couldn't be certain. Nonetheless, it appeared as though the boy was friendly, although he held an axe and a pistol in his hands. Not wanting to alarm the boy, Adam looked right at him, and cleared his throat a little.

"Hey...you do this?" Adam indicated the fresh bandaging, and then glanced around the surrounding area. The woods seemed quiet, but due to his dulled senses, Adam couldn't be certain.

Finding that it's relatively hard to be certain of anything, these days...

Cody saw the boy finally stir, and with a groan he sat up. Cody silently watched as he became aware of his surroundings, and as he indicated the bandage with a murmor, Cody gave the slightest of nods, signallng that yes, he had. Cody stood up quckly, and walked over to the seated Dodd, taking a seat against a tree across from where Adam was sitting.

"So, you must have killed alot of people to get all those weapons."

He let a slight waver creep into his voice, as if he was awed by the boys brutality. He also kept the pistol at hand, wanting the boy to think that he was mistrusting, afraid of someone who must have murdered many children.

Cody's ice blue eyes bored into the brown of Adam's, and as worlds collided somewhere, the two people most unlikely to sit and talk on the Island began an uneasy conversation.

Adam returned the nod, and shook his head a little bit.

"Well...thanks, I appreciate your kindness, man."

As Cody came over and sat down across from Adam, seemingly voicing his distrust over the fact that Adam had stockpiled so many weapons, Adam's eyes widened a little bit.

Is THAT what people think...?

Shaking his head a little bit, and staring into the other boy's icy cold blue eyes to let the kid know that he was indeed telling the truth, Adam sighed a little bit.

"Actually...well...I guess it depends what your definiton of 'a lot' is...but look, I'm not...playing, no matter how much it looks like that. Yeah, I've killed a few people, but mainly, it's been in self-defense. I'm probably the luckiest son of a bitch on the island, as far as that goes - in that nobody who shoots at me seems to hit me all that often. I'm guessing you've gone through my stuff, so uhh...I started with one of the pistols. Swapped it with my friend's shotgun when his arm got all fucked up. He died, and ...so I took the pistol back...I got another one from my best friend's corpse. Hell, I can hardly remember. Most of this shit, I've scavenged off of people." Adam shrugged. "I guess...it's not like they need it anymore. 'N hell, if I come up against Danya at any point....I'll need the armaments of a small army, you know?"

Thinking about it for a second, Adam shrugged groggily again. He wasn't used to being this candid, but if it meant that this kid wouldn't kill him for thinking he was aplayer, he didn't care.

"As far as people I've killed...I know of..." Adam winced as the number came into his head. "...eight...and Danya doesn't exactly keep a running scoreboard, so I don't know if that's a little, or a lot. I can say...I killed one guy who followed me around trying to murder me and my friend for two days, and pretty much ended up with an assist. Uhh...I blew a guy away who killed one of my friends basically right in front of my face, and uhh...beat some guy to death who tried to rape me..."

Adam shook his head and looked at the kid with an honest expression on his face.

"Feel free to judge me however you want. Whatever way you look at it, is fine, because when it's all said and done, I don't feel all THAT bad about the choices that I've made. Here on this island, I've just tried to protect my friends, and my allies as best as I can. S'all I can really do, you know? But NO, I am certainly not fucking playing."

Adam looked down for a second, sighed, and then looked up at the kid, wondering if he would believe what Adam had said, and whether or not he would decide that he needed to kill Adam. He sincerely hoped that the kid would believe him.

Cody sat with an blank expression on his face, his eyes continuing to bore in to Adams.

Bud, no matter what you may think, its impossible to kill eight people without playing. Somewhere in your mind, you knew exactly what you were doing. You were thinning the herd.

Cody then grinned. "Some sick fuck tried to rape you?" He shook his head. "Rediculous."

"I have been around a bit. Hid on the beach for a while, then heard a motorcycle and moved up in to the hills near that field. When that helicopter crashed, I moved here to the woods, and picked up that ride-" Cody indicated the motorcycle leaning up agaist the tree "-From some dead kid. I have been hit, shot at, stabbed, and beaten up at least twice each, and some of my ribs are most definatly broken. But, I'm still alive, and I think about 100 arent, so I consider myself lucky."

Cody held out his hand to Adam

"The name is Andrew Stewart, Friends call me Drew."

Nodding slightly, Adam extended his hand to the boy, who he now knew as Andrew Stewart.

"I'm Adam Dodd. My friends...well, most of 'em are dead anyway, so what does it matter, right?" Sighing, he cracked his neck a few times, and looked around the woods.

"So you're basically just doing what you've got to do in order to survive, eh? See - that, I can understand, even if it means you've got to go and kill people, play the game, as it may. Everyone's got a different outlook on that, but...some people - like the guy that I mentioned, that rapist guy...I dunno, man. Still gives me shivers, just thinking about it. Then...there's this other guy, too...that raped and killed a really close friend of mine...and dude, I just...I've been thinking about it for so long, I just don't know why that's even necessary at all. You play, then good for you. But rape...is so..."

Adam trailed off, wincing as he saw Madelaine's corpse in his mind's eye.

"...there's nothing innocent about that, man."

Brushing some dirt off of his Leafs jersey, he looked at the other kid.

"You a hockey fan?"

Lucinda continued to watch the two lightly, unsure if she should do something to get the other one away from Adam if he tried to do something to the other. Namely when he wondered away, and started looking through Adam’s equipment, a small hint of confusion running through her mind as too why the other one was doing all this. Cleaning his wounds and all, maybe there where some good people still left on this island… or maybe it was something else. But whatever it was, she pushed her thoughts aside when it seemed Adam stirred again and finally began to wake up.

From her spot amongst the bushes it was a bit hard to fully hear what they where saying to one another being at the distance she was at, but from what little bit she could hear it seemed that the one boy was questioning Adam on how he had got the large supplies of weaponry, as Adam went one to explain all that had happened still he had been dumped on the island. Something she had heard a bit when they had met up one day before. Pursing her lips a bit, she settled back a bit making sure to make as little to no noise as possible as she let the grip on the knife loosen up.

As the two went about introducing themselves and shaking hands, she eyed about area around the two boys. Namely the weapons that had been thrown to the side, either when Adam fell, or when the other boy… Andrew was it? Had thrown off to the side. Though the idea of getting a hold of one of those weapons would be very helpful in the days to come, none seemed close enough for her to get and not be seen. So instead, she simply rested back and waited.

"You a hockey fan?"

If you only knew.

"Yeah, I play a little bit, and I am a big wings fan."

"So what do you think about that collective bargaining agreement? I think it is semi bullshit, but it shouldn't hurt the wings that much if they can keep there core."

"So I see your a Leaf's fan" Cody said, nodding at Dodd's jersey.

"They probobly will end up with a winning record, but I don't see them holding lord stanley any time soon."

Cody gave Adam a smile. Perhaps he could befriend the boy, gain his trust.

Lucinda let a small tisk escape her lips as the talk between the boys seemed to be going little to no where. Glancing about once more, she lightly sighed under her breath as it seemed she wouldn't be able to get around and ahold of to one of Adam's tossed aside weapons without being noticed and probably shot at. So throwing her eariler plans aside, silently began moving back away from the area of bushes she had been hiding amongest and back toward the way she had came from.

Coming back to the incline, she glanced down at what bit of Ryan's body she could see from her location. Luci able to feel her chest tightening a bit as tears fought to break through ago, but biting back emotion she turned away from the site and began making her way away from the sight. Unsure of where she heading, but knowing that she wouldn't be returning to this area anytime soon.

Pulling himself to his feet, Adam grimaced as his aching muscles stretched out and his relatively sore back extended itself. Stumbling over to his pack, as though he'd just woken up, Adam looked inside to see if anything was still left. To his surprise, everything seemed to be intact, from the ammunition to his extra pistols, to the machete, to the knife. Closing the pack, he slipped it back around his back as he responded to Andrew's statement.

"I've played myself for a long time. Lots of house leagues, a few select leagues, but I never really tried out for any teams. And as for the Leafs...yeah, I hear that. As soon as they fire Quinn and get rid of Belfour, Domi, and all of the older guys, well...then they'll have a fighting chance. Build up the team around guys like Steen and Wellwood, and they'll be find. S'like the Wings, you know? Built around guys like Datsyuk and Zetterberg, while your vets like Lidstrom and Yzerman still contribute."

Bending down to pick up his shotgun, he slung the weapon across his body with the strap, and then looked around for his Uzi.

"Then again, with the way they're going, if they keep trading away their good players like Boyes and Immonen...they won't have much of a base to build off of. I hope you can understand that while I'm getting my weapons together, I'm not going to shoot you, or anything. I just don't exactly feel comfortable sitting around defenseless. I'm sure you understand. I've been around the fucking gamut in this game."

Adam finally found the Uzi, and picked it up, checking the chamber and prepping it if he ever needed to fire at a hidden aversary.

"If you can call it that."

Turning around and facing Andrew, he shrugged a little.

"So you said you got the crap kicked out of you...who did it?"
