An ally has been slain.

That was the last thing that Matt wanted to see flash across his screen. These players were all over 2k elo, the very best of the best of League of Legends players. Why were they still making mistakes like getting caught warding by an Ashe arrow? Matt was completely baffled.

Matt's elo had been increasing steadily over the past few months. Ever since he decided to become a progamer, most days were some variation of school, homework, play LoL, sleep, and Matt would try to cut corners on his homework as much as possible to try to get an extra game or two in every night. The extra practice was clearly paying off.

Matt was on the cusp of 2100. That was already good enough to get onto a team, and from there he would only get better. However, Matt needed that 2100 rating. He needed it to prove to his parents and his brother that this was something that he was truly good at and that he was not wasting his life. His parents were never particularly vocal about their disapproval of Matt's life decision, but he could tell that they didn't like it. They had become a little more distant, a little more melancholy when around him. They would always ask him about his academics and friends and GSA activity, but never his gaming. They would never ask him about the thing that he was most passionate about.

George, on the other hand, was always more vocal about Matt's decision. "Why aren't you becoming a scientist? You are so fucking talented at physics! Do something useful!" George just didn't understand. As much as Matt did enjoy physics, and as much as he excelled at it, he just enjoyed playing LoL more. It made him happy, and that's all he wanted out of life. There was no greater good to serve, no greater purpose to life. It was his goal to find his happiness, and he could do that playing LoL.

And that's why it hurt when his idiot Janna got herself caught and killed by the Ashe arrow. This win would have put Matt above 2100, but now he was going to have to win a few more games.

Might as well try to go steal Baron. Getting an epic Baron steal was the only hope his team had left.

Thankfully, the other team seemed to have forgotten that Matt was Fiddlesticks, who could Crowstorm his way into Baron and steal it. Matt also had a Galio and a Kennen on his team, and if they could just stack their ultimates...

Matt dropped a ward into the Baron pit. He had guessed right, Baron was down to about 2k health. He saw his Galio flash into the Baron pit and ult, and Kennen did the same. All that was left was to press R and...

It had worked. The enemy team had bunched up and let it happen, but it had worked. Matt had stolen Baron and killed the entire enemy team in what was quite possibly the single most epic play he had ever been involved with.

The enemy team surrendered. Matt hit 2100, and all was good in the world.
