Rain on Me

Tradgedy with the Twins [CONTENT WARNING AND ALSO TRIGGER WARNING YIKES!!!!: Thread contains a graphic miscarriage scene]

A large, open field filled with rows upon rows of wheat stalks. The wheat only comes up to about the average person's waist, and thus makes an individual traversing this area stick out like a sore thumb. Be careful in this area, there's no telling who else could be wading through the tall grass.

Rain on Me

((Continued from the Cliffs))

Debrah slowly stalked through the wheat fields, the stalks silently brushing against her porcelain skin. The skies above clouded with dark clouds, lightened by the moon veiled behind the tumbling cushions of sky. She willed herself forward, the only promise being that she would find Deliah and they would be together forever. The cold handle of the axe gripped in her hands only seemed to make the night more chilling. The wind blew through the field, strong and blustery it made the sea of wheat dance around her.

The bloodied gun tucked inside her pants was only a reminder of the murder she had since committed at the cliffs. The itch at the back of Debrah's mind telling her she had done a bad thing, a terrible thing. It only continued to help drive her forward towards her goal. She hadn't slept and hadn't eaten, only a tireless pursuit. The one image etched in her mind, her own image.

Debrah cast sidelong glances at the field moving around her. It reminded her of her parent's old farm back in Ohio. The hours she and Deliah would spend playing hide and seek in the mysterious field, always to find each other eventually. The memory made Debrah smile, it hardly matched her dirtied face and wide solemn eyes. She told herself after finding Deliah she would find a river or possibly a shower and rest for a little while. Until then she would continue her search.

"Deliah, where are you?" The words escaped Debrah's lips without any notice on her part, she could only see ahead. The fields continued to dance around her, hiding all from view.

((Continued from the park))

She was crouched between the wheat stalks with her nose touching her knees, the shivers and drops of rain slowly drenching her back from her position. The dirt was beginning to soften under the pressure of her knees and the mixture of water. Had she done something wrong to be put here, she wondered, feeling alone in the area, tired and pressing her hands on her belly.

It was starting to bulge, anyone who could see the perfectly round bump knew what was growing. Unfortunately, Deliah hadn't known that this wasn't going to be the biggest of her problems in her young life. Her fingers ran along her stomach and felt the firm and tight skin, still somehow warm under the conditions, and bit down on her lip.

"Deliah, where are you?"

Her head shot up, looking around and seeing nothing but wheat, unsure if she had really heard what she suspected to be her sister. Pressing her hands into the soil, she lifted herself, ignoring the faint feeling she experienced as she took a couple of steps through the field.

"D-debrah? Hello?"

Deliah wrapped her arms around herself and bent her chin to her chest, trying to control her shivers. Was she sweating? The rain felt warm on her skin and she didn't know whether she was feverish or just scared. Emotions were running together, blending under the pressure of being alone and with the fear of losing her life.

Debrah's head shot up, with the new feeling of droplets of water falling around her she could've sworn she had heard the voice of Deliah. Although doubts flooded through her she urged herself forward, pushing her way through the field until she caught a glimpse of that angelic white hair. She stood there, arms wrapped around herself and looking down somewhere. She looked frail like a dying flower.

"Deliah!" Debrah screamed, no more inhibitions. She ran forward and threw the axe off to the side, it hit the mud with a splat and was forgotten. Debrah grasped Deliah and pulled her close, her head rested on Deliah's shoulder as she let it all out. Being alone again was something she never wanted to do again.

"Never leave me again! Please Deliah!" Debrah gasped as she continued to cry and vent her emotions onto her Twin.

Her eyes squinted shut and she knew then she was sobbing, right onto her sister's shoulder as they held each other in the rain. Deliah's breaths came in short puffs as she sniffled and let more tears mix in with the rainwater pouring on her face. The shaking and shivering, though she wanted it to subside, seemed to increase.

She pressed herself closer to her twin, trying to steady her convulsions. Finally being reunited with her sister was supposed to calm her, wasn't it? Trying to hold on to Debrah became too strained, and she let her arms wrap around her stomach as she fell onto her side in the mud.

"Oh god," she cried, feeling sick and exasperated while her breathing stayed shallow and her body kept shaking.

"Debrah, it hurts, oh god it hurts!"

Deliah felt her body start to move against her, as she willed herself to calm down she felt something between her legs, like excrement of some sort squeezing itself from the wrong hole. What had just happened? Had she had a seizure?

She couldn't feel anything but pain and the substance between her legs sliding down and falling onto the mud in the rain. Even though she couldn't manage it, she felt a certain shame for not being able to keep herself together like her sister seemed to have.

"What's happening?" she cried, afraid to look down at herself, still lying in the mud with the rain pouring upon her.

Debrah felt Deliah begin to shake in her arms, she could hardly hold onto her. She could feel Deliah's warm breath against her, it came in shuddering bursts. Her twin could hardly breathe, she screamed in pain as she slipped from her grasp and fell over onto her side. Debrah could only hear Deliah as she screamed out her name from the ground.

"No! Deliah, I'm here!" Debrah cried, tears flowing uncontrollably as she shot down to her twins side. She intertwined her hand with her twin, grabbing on tightly to reassure she was there. She didn't know what to do as she frantically looked around Deliah to see what could be causing the pain. A flash of lightning burst out into the night, quickly illuminating all for a split second. A split second was all she needed as she saw her twin grasping her protruding stomach, blood freely pouring from between her legs. She was pregnant and something was going wrong.

"Deliah, why didn't you tell me?! I'm your twin! You weren't gonna leave me were you?" Debrah screamed frantically, her free hand grasping the flashlight in her pocket and with a flick of her finger the area was illuminated. She shone it at her twin first, her face scrunched with unknowable pain. Debrah's own face was that of fear, anger, and sadness. Her tears flowed harder than before, mascara running down her face along with it. Something in her mind was lost now.

The flashlight slipped between Deliah's legs along with Debrah's gaze. Deliah's area looked like it was blowing a massive bubble as something began to push it's way slowly through, it wasn't moving.

"DELIAH, WHAT DID YOU DO?! WHAT DO I DO?!" Debrah screamed, it was proving too much for her to bare.

Deliah felt the liquid rinse away in the rain, but something solid was coming out of her. She curled up tighter into herself, holding her protruding stomach as her twin screamed at her, frantic just as much as Deliah was. The agony and pressure below caused her to black out for a minute or so, and when she woke... that something pushing out had escaped. Her legs wide open as she found herself on her back, she tried to lift her body to see what had come out, worst fears surfacing upon seeing a bloody –well, she couldn't describe it as human yet—thing connected to her by a veiny cord.

It lay still, in the mud, being pummeled by rain and Deliah could only stare at it in disgust. Her mouth opened wide and she let out a gasp of horror once she was able to finally put two and two together. In front of her was her baby. Not moving, pale and skin almost paper thin, connected to her body, no longer alive.

"No," she choked on her words, "No...."

Racking with sobs, her arms reached out towards it, and she lifted it to her heaving chest. It felt soft, fragile. She began to wail, holding it closer, but careful not to hurt the deceased baby.

What happened to her?

She blocked out everything but her miscarried child, sniffling and wailing as she ran a couple fingers along the top of the developing head, the remaining blood on the fetus soaking onto her school uniform. Disfigured and utterly underdeveloped, what Deliah had once stared at in horror for a split second was now the most beautiful thing she ever thought she'd see. It was hers and Matthew's child, and it was gone forever.

Deliah closed her mouth and cradled the fetus, staring at it intently, hunching her shoulders to shield it from the rain. Water poured onto her face, and droplets hit the still body as she bent down slowly to softly kiss it. She kept telling herself that it was her own fault, that she couldn't protect him—she always wanted a boy to name Jeffrey, and though she didn't know what the baby would've been, she thought it safe to call it what she wanted regardless—and she began to sob harder as she brought her knees up to surround the fetus in her arms.

I couldn't save you, why? You poor thing, I couldn't save you.

Debrah couldn't believe the sight before her. Deliah holding her unborn child close to her, whispering sweet nothings into it's under developed ear. Something in Debrah's mind broke at that moment.

YOU PROMISED, YOU PROMISED, YOU PROMISED!

Debrah! Calm down!

BITCH! WHORE! SLUT! YOU NEVER LOVED ME!

The voice of Debrah vanished from her mind, the scared look on her face turned into one of anger. The rain continued to pelt at her face, washing away any visible tears. Nothing was right anymore, everything was broken. Every moment she had yearned to be closer to her sister had lead to this. Her own utter failure, those doting eyes of admiration gone as they went blank and emotionless. Those soft blonde eyebrows furrowing forward with all their might.

The makeup which once made her so beautiful ran down her face, she was no less of a heartless monster than any other person on this earth. Debrah turned her gaze to a shining handle sticking out closely in the mud. The only way to have Deliah stay with her forever was to hurt her. The sick thought pervaded her mind as she shakily stood up. The wind blowing gales as she stepped forward and was nearly knocked over.

She grasped the handle with her two dirtied, bloodied hands. That girl she killed would be around forever too. She needed to be with Deliah forever. She continued to tug on the handle, as it finally broke free from the protective mud of the earth it made a disgusting noise akin to a blade entering flesh. Was that liquid earth trying to protect her dear sister, the thought sprayed confusion across her angelic face as she turned to stare at her sister.

The flash of lightning illuminated her in it's blinding white light. For a split moment it was as if she saw her sister's hair turn into a halo in that light, the wheat thrashing behind her had turned into wings which were protecting her from the storm. For a split moment Debrah had seen the most beautiful thing she would ever see on this world. And she would soon destroy it.

Debrah ran as hard as she could against the blowing winds which seemed to have turned directions just to stop her, but she kept going. The ground grabbed at her feet as she continued, she kept going. The rain obstructed all view she had of her sister, but she knew where she was. Once Debrah realized that she was standing right over her sister, the axe in her hand, she became an executioner of the good. She raised that heavy, clumsy axe in her hands. She brought it down with all her might. Nothing would stand in her way. Not wind, rain, or earth. Deliah would be with her forever. And as the axe made it's way towards Deliah one more thought entered Debrah's head.

Why didn't anyone ever love me?

Bent over, hovering, trying to protect the dead mess in her arms from the pummeling water, Deliah whispered once more to it.

"I'm sorry."

The axe didn't cut all the way through her head. There was a flap of her skin in the front that let her head swing downward. It slammed into the fetus, bleeding profusely from the back, mixing with rainwater onto her shirt.

Deliah's unborn child was dropped onto the ground from her lifeless hands, blood pouring into the mud as she collapsed forward, smashing the fetus into the soft mud.

Debrah felt the feeling in her arms stop as it made contact with Deliah's pretty little head. It had cut nearly through, that visceral feeling coursed through Debrah's body. In a strange sort of way she was enjoying this. She swung the axe up again, and brought it down again.

Up and down, up and down.

Nothing was stopping her, the blind rage and sadness that she kept bottled up had exploded in a torrent very much like the rain. The tears streamed down her make-up stained face. As her body moved on it's own she was brought into memories of her childhood by her mind.

Just she and Deliah being best friend, holding hands, being together, promises kept. They had promised to be together forever, no matter what. But life goes on, Debrah couldn't handle that. She needed her promise to be kept and in her own sick way she was doing so. That voice was gone from her head, it was just her now. Alone and unloved.

When Debrah finally came to, the Announcement was then blaring across the island. She picked herself up and looked around.

"Deliah? We need to get out of here, it's gonna be a Danger Zone..." Debrah said, looking for her Sister. Debrah looked down at her own hands and an expression of extreme guilt and sadness came over her dirtied face. Her hands were covered in blood, and as she looked around she realized who it belonged to. She couldn't speak, not anymore, only cry.

No, No, No!

She reached down and picked up the severed hand of her sister, the white bracelet still attached to the wrist. It matched her own black bracelet near perfectly. Her mind was reeling from what she was seeing, but she new Deliah was there. Right now speaking with her, but the voice was silent.

"Deliah, why won't you speak to me?" Debrah whispered, she tucked the dainty hand into her pocket and picked up the bloody axe. She dragged it silently behind her, she needed to find Deliah.

She needed someone to love her.
