What a Wicked Way to Treat the Girl That Loves You

Open

The largest building in the village is the commissary. With a large wooden sign hanging above the entrance and painted with a colorful mural showing various scenes from nature, it is the most eye-catching building as well. The interior of the commissary is a large hall laid out very simply with rows of tables and benches. There is also a separate kitchen area and storeroom present. This area appears to have been subject to a raid by the island's monkey population, as many pots and pans lie scattered in the kitchen area, while the storeroom has many overturned boxes and items knocked from shelves.

Seemed like they were ready to head out, but before that, Cammy apparently had one last surprise for them, offering to let them use her weapon. It did occur to Jeff that he’d never seen her pull a weapon out, and if she was just giving it away with no strings attached, he had a good idea why. Probably was something like a hula hoop or a bouquet of roses or a...

Nailbat.

Sure enough, peeking under the bench where she’d indicated for them, he pulled out a hefty-looking club with nails through the head. Tanisha had no use for it, apparently, so it was his, free of charge. Dang...for once in his life, things were coming up Greene.

Hefting it in his right hand and giving a couple of practice swings against the air, he gave Cammy an appreciative nod. If she was counting on him to watch her back, she’d taken a huge first step to winning his trust. With this and his shield, he was ready for just about anything, as long as they didn’t stab him in the back.

“Yeah, right behind you,” he replied to Tanisha, following her out into the great unknown. He was alright with this alliance, for however long it lasted. Worst case scenario, he had two badass weapons, and he’d be fine striking out on his own. But until then, might as well be a team player. He’d survive longer that way.

Cammy wasn't sure if it was the right thing to do, showing them the bat. When Jeff took it and started swinging it around in the air, she really wasn't sure. She hoped she wouldn't come to regret this decision.

It wasn't just that she didn't want it, of course. It's that she didn't want it to be used, ever. If she left it there, who knows who could have come and grabbed it. At least this way, she could keep an eye on it, right?

Keep an eye on it. Good one. As if just looking at the thing didn't make her feel sick.

Well, it was too late now. The thought had only occurred to her now that she probably could have held it herself until she could dispose of it, like in the ocean or something. But it was in Jeff's hands now, and Cammy probably wasn't going to be able to wrestle it out of his hands anytime soon.

So she simply sighed, making a noise of what she hoped they heard as agreement, and followed them out of the building.
