the only way out.

It used to be the island's housing district... at least, it used to be. It wasn't much to begin with, maybe ten or twelve houses lined up in a row where the soldiers' families lived. When a large storm hit the island years ago, all the houses were practically destroyed and the water stagnated on the flat ground, giving way to the festering marsh that sits here now.

Continued from all hope is not lost.

Anna had gotten a few hours of sleep and was growing bored of the barracks so she decided to leave the area and began walking. She soon found herself inside of the marsh. Even though it started out shallow she soon realized that it kept getting deeper. Within 5 minutes of walking she noticed the marsh water went up to her ankles. Despite this she continued walking through the swamp and began thinking about what her game plan would be.

She honestly didn't want to hurt or kill anyone, but she certainly wasn't prepared to die because of this. Although killing was not an option a few hours ago, she began wondering. Sure killing was horrible, but Anna didn't pick to be in this game and refusing to kill would just be a waste of her life. She had so much to learn, and so much to gain from living.

She pulled out the picture of the young couple she took from the barracks. The young man in the picture probably voluntered to be in the millitary, but I'm sure even he didn't know what he got himself into. His poor girlfriend must have been heartbroken if he didn't return home. She thought of her father. Although they only recently started to talk, they were still all each other had and Anna loved her father with all of her heart and she wanted to see him.

Before she knew it Anna was up to almost her knees in swamp water. She noticed a bizarre growing tree root which was just big enough for her to sit. Using her lacrosse stick she pulled herself out of the water and onto the root. She sat thinking, and wondering if anyone would find her here.

((Continued from Torpor))

Clouds were forming over the island, almost like an omen. It looked like it could rain anytime, like god would open up the heavens and unleash his fury upon the island for the violence and sins that are occurring at an alarming rate here.

Sin.

Such a simple word that can evoke so much emotion. That word alone can cause murder, war, trials and riots. Sin and religion. Hand in hand, they work together towards a common goal. Religion could be the most powerful thing in the world. Anything could be blamed on religion. You could kill yourself and take twenty people to the grave with you, and if you say it was for religion your a hero.

So in affect, Lenny could announce to the world right now through the numerous cameras around him, that his actions in this game were based on his religion. Though that would be wrong. A lie.

A sin.

So in effect, Lenny would be counter-acting religion. By stating his intentions were for a greater good, for a greater god, he would be doing one of the cardinal sins of religion. So then he would have the god he was praising against him.

That is if there was a god. Lenny went to church every Sunday. Not because he was a religious boy but because it's what his parents made him do. So every Sunday he and his twin sister, Elizabeth, who was grasping on to his arm right now, would dress up in their Sunday best and go praise a god they never saw. A god they never heard. A god who was not present now. For if there was ever a time to show yourself, wouldn't it be now?

God hasn't shown though. So Lenny wasn't about to announce his plans as being for a god. What he was going to do, what he was doing, was not motivated by god, by Satan, Buddah, Jesus, the pope, or even batman.

He was motivated by one of the most true, most honest human emotions ever. Something that no one could question.

Love.

He loved his sister. Not in any kind of inappropriate incestuous way, but he loved her like a sister. His twin sister. So he would do anything, and everything, to protect her. If that meant kill people, he would do it. Of course, there was always the secondary aspect playing in his mind. Fame. He could be famous killing people. Though would he risk his sister by putting himself at risk with over the top killings? In actuality, he was doing fine. It was day three, and he and his sister were fine. He was letting the killers kill and the dyers die.

He would live. No matter what, Lenny Priestly would make sure his sister won this.

So as he and Elizabeth trekked through the jungle, they stumbled upon the marsh. That's when the noticed a rather tall, skinny girl sitting on a root. Lenny lightly pushed Elizabeth behind him to protect her, and cautiously he approached the girl, stepping through the Marsh. He kept his distance from her, just in case, and he felt his hatchet pressing against his back. It was still hidden under his shirt with the handle tucked in his jeans.

He looked at the girl and said, "You ok?"

((Due to inactivity on the part of this character's handler, Anna Vaan has been revoked and will be eliminated from the game.))

People!

Throughout all the time she had spent on the island, Anna had yet to run into anybody at all. Now that she had finally found somebody else on this island, she suddenly didn't know how to feel. Should she be happy? Sad? Scared? Anna had always considered herself a logical and level-headed person, but now that she found herself in a potentially dangerous situation, she was having a hard time thinking at all.

"Yup," she answered simply, nervously training her eyes on the set of twins that had appeared in the murky swamp.

She recognized them from school. Lenny and Elizabeth Priestly. From what she knew of Lenny, he had a thing for being in the spotlight. He was in almost every school talent show she had attended and he'd been in many school plays as well. His sister Elizabeth was a pretty well-known figure around Southridge High too.

Smart and athletic, and one of the prettiest girls in school, or at least, Anna had always thought so. She had always seemed very nice, although Anna had never actually spoken to her that she could recall. In a way, she made Anna feel uncomfortable. It was her beauty and the confidence that she beamed that made Anna -- someone who was very uncomfortable with her own appearance -- become all the more modest and withdrawn.

She watched the two warily, all the while trying to remember what Mr. Danya had said in the announcements. As far as she could remember, neither of the twins had been announced as killing anybody. But here, did that really mean anything? Anna had been doing a lot of thinking as of late, about how sitting around and playing pacifist would cause her to meet an untimely demise.

Did Lenny and Elizabeth think the same way? If they did, who was to say that they weren't putting on an act at that very moment. Who's to say that they hadn't killed anybody simply because they hadn't found an unwitting victim yet? Elizabeth simply didn't seem like the type to murder someone, but then again, Anna had heard names on the announcements that she couldn't even fathom could have killed someone.

People like Julie Mikan, Keith Jackson, Darnell Butler, Nadine Willowbrook, Jodene Zalack, and even Bobby Jacks. They were all people that Anna would have never pegged as murderers. Some of them, like Bobby, hadn't been the most social people back in school, but even he definitely wasn't someone that Anna could have looked at and said, "Oh, he'll kill somebody one of these days." In fact, she couldn't fathom any of her classmates being killers.

But they were.

The announcements had confirmed that much. They had told Anna that her classmates were playing, and that she had to be willing to play too. It wasn't like she had to go out and hunt down every single one of her classmates on the entire island, but when she ran into them, she had a better chance of living if she killed them. Anna liked to think of herself as a fairly sensible person, and as anyone with common sense knew, human beings were selfish people.

A lot of people would deny that fact to the bitter end, but when push came to shove, people were going to put themselves before anyone else. That thought ran through her mind over and over again as she watched Lenny and Elizabeth. Slowly, Anna hopped off the root she had been standing on, cringing a bit as the murky swamp water oozed into her shoes, and moved a bit closer to the duo standing nearby.

"I guess the proper thing to do would be to ask you if you were playing," Anna stated quietly, her grip on the lacrosse stick tightening considerably, "But I think I already know the answer to that. Everybody here is playing this game, on some level or another. I'm really sorry, but I know I can't trust you... because... I can't trust anybody. I've been doing a lot of thinking, and I've realized that... if I want to go home, I'm gonna have to play. So... get ready, because only one of us is going to walk away from this."

Anna's grip once again tightened on the lacrosse stick and she moved it defensively in front of her. If either of the two attacked her, she had to be ready for it. Her eyes trained themselves on Elizabeth. She'd be the one to watch out for. Anna was sure Lenny would probably attack her if he felt like she was threatening them, but she didn't know what Elizabeth would do, and that made her a very big wild card.

Surprises.

Twists.

Turns.

Those are all things that made books and movies great. You could sit and watch a rather boring movie, but if there was a good enough twist at the end, it could make you completely forget about the agonizing journey to the point, and hang on every word and action of the characters. While the event that was unfolding now was definitely not a twist or a complete surprise, it was a turn, a rising action to a climax that is yet unseen. Anna Vaan. The tall skinny girl. Standing in front of Lenny and Elizabeth holding her Lacrosse stick calling them out.

So she wants a fight.

She'll get one.

Elizabeth to a step to her right, so she was flanking Anna's left side. Elizabeth's weapon was pretty much useless in a fight. It was just a coping saw, and she knew she would have to rely on her brother and his weapon. Thoughts flew through Elizabeth's head, and adrenaline surged through her veins. She was excited. A fight. A fight to the death no less. She thought that Anna was stupid, calling to fight two people when she only held a lacrosse stick. Or did she? She could have a gun. This could all be a trick. She could have someone else hiding in the trees, waiting to come up behind Lenny and Elizabeth.

Lenny in the meantime shrugged off his bag, and reached around to pull his hatchet out of its hiding spot tucked in his jeans. He smiled as the rain poured down. This was just like a movie. Or a really bad samurai flick. He looked at the girl and said, "You made a pretty big mistake little girl."

Lenny worried about his sister. If Anna had some tricks up her sleeves, he didn't want Elizabeth to get hurt. The question now was, what to do with Anna. Try to go in for a quick kill, or just overpower her and slowly torture her. So many questions, so little time to choose. The rain was stinging now, and Lenny felt a shiver. He wasn't sure if it was the coldness or his nerves. He was nervous after all. Lenny glanced at his sister and winked.

Elizabeth wasn't sure what the wink meant, but she knew what she had to do. She had to open up a shot for Lenny, and that required causing the girl to turn her back to him or at least her side. Elizabeth lunged at Anna, throwing her body at her in an attempt to throw her off guard.

As Elizabeth moved around to flank her side, Anna kept an eye on the girl through her peripheral vision. Lenny was going to attack. She was almost certain. So then, what was Elizabeth doing? Trying to distract her? Perhaps.

But was it a chance Anna was really willing to take? What if she was wrong? What if Lenny was the one who was supposed to play decoy while Elizabeth attacked her? Suddenly, Anna wasn't so sure about this whole thing. Lady Luck didn't seem to favor her in this two-on-one.

Calm down Anna, it'll be okay... it's just like all those movies you've seen where the hero finds himself outnumbered two, three, or even ten to one. You've just gotta stay calm and focused and you can beat them both. Wouldn't that be a sight? Me, little ole' Anna Vaan killing both the Priestly twins within seconds of one another? If I can do that, I'll be sure to go home!

Needless to say, after all the time she'd spent on the island, Anna wasn't quite in her right state of mind. Still, she was confident that she could take both Lenny and Elizabeth. Neither of the two had a reputation of being particularly tough individuals. They definitely didn't fall into the crowd that you just didn't mess with.

They were just two normal kids, just like her... only, in this game, they were competition, and this was a game Anna didn't want to lose. It was a game she couldn't afford to lose. It was a game she wouldn't let herself lose.

"Oh yeah?" Anna retorted to Lenny's comment as her trail of vision moved back and forth between the twins, "I think you're the one who doesn't know what you're getting yourself into."

Twins were close. It was like some unwritten rule bestowed upon them at birth. When you share most of the same genetic material with someone, you're bound to be close to them, right? In addition to that well known fact, Anna knew that Lenny and Elizabeth were and had always been close.

You hurt one, you're bound to mess with the other. Elizabeth was the closest to her. Besides that, she was probably the weaker of the two. It'd be easy to take her out and bring it down to herself and Lenny... at least, that was what Anna though.

When Elizabeth lunged at her, she had almost expected it and swung her lacrosse stick around violently in some attempt to slam it into the side of Elizabeth's head. If it hit her, it'd hopefully at least put her in a daze, if not completely knock her out.

Still, Anna couldn't put all her concentration into quickly taking out Elizabeth. As it was, her back was open to Lenny, and she was certain he'd use the opening to attack. If her attack missed Elizabeth, she'd be in a world of trouble. Even if it hit, it would probably do nothing sans serve as a temporary distraction.

((Will and Christian continued from Point of Collapse))

From the Jungle, burst Will Sigurbjornsson and Christian Rydell. For a short while now they had traveled, seeking shelter from the rain. With his friend's blood now being washed off of his hands by the rain, and that friend on the brink of death, he was at his wit's end. His arms ached from carrying Christian before he awoke, and he only just woke up now. The wound on his thigh meant he had to limp most of the way, and going through the jungle, it was completely unforgiving.

As he rushed into the clearing, leaves whipping at his face and Christian at his side, Will noticed the three people in the field, and quickly brought the two of them down into the marsh. Hard. Christian winced in pain, but Will quickly motioned for him to hang in there and be quiet. He whispered "Stay Down" to Christian before pulling the heavy revolver from his pocket. Hands shaking, Will checked the ammunition. He wouldn't surely kill anybody right now, that wasn't who he was, it wasn't...

Christian must survive.

Yes. That was his mission. If he could save one person, his best friend, then maybe his life wouldn't go to waste like the rest of them on the island. Christian had a few wounds, they could be fixed, he had medical supplies... They could just wait it out, and when the time came, then he would just have to kill anyone who in his way. No, not now. It wasn't neccessary.

None of this is neccessary!

Objectives. That was how he'd do things. Step by step. Coldly. He needed to protect Christian. Get him medical attention. Survive, lay low. Treat it all as a challenge... Will shuddered as he pulled back the hammer of the revolver. Soon he would stand up, and put these people down. Yeah.

That isn't neccessary either...

Will peered out at them. They hadn't seen him yet. It didn't look like any of them had a weapon that could match a firearm, and at this distance, in this open space it would be quite difficult for them to escape. He saw the group of them. They weren't actually together... Well, it seemed two of them were. The one was trying to attack the other two, it seemed.

"I think you're the one who doesn't know what you're getting yourself into."

He heard the one girl say. It was at this moment Will decided to announce his presence. Yes, he was perfectly willing to kill them all if he had to. But at this point, there was still the chance he could perhaps gain some allies. Will wasn't optimistic. Was he ever? The gun raised to point in the direction of the girl with the lacrosse stick.

"I think you're about to fucking die, bitch!"

He was ready for the recoil this time. Two shots, in succession, cut through the air towards the girl's back. His wrist shot back, but he was able to set up another shot quite quickly. Hopefully he would be able to convince the other two he was trying to help them, and meant them no harm. If they seemed as aggressive as she was, however...

Will took a few quick steps back as soon as the last shot rang out, and looked up to see the result of his sudden attack.

Elizabeth had made it halfway with her lunge at Anna when she felt something make contact with her head. Even in the rush of the adrenaline, it hurt, and there was a second of blackness and she fell to the ground, and instinctively rolled away from the girl. That hurt a lot, and she hoped to god her sacrifice of brain cells was enough for her brother to hit the girl. Elizabeth peered up to see what would happen.

The moment Elizabeth went to tackle the girl, Lenny had his hatchet out, and he found himself swinging it at the girls back, hoping to get a good cut in. Anything to cause her pain, stop her. In the seconds that followed his attack he quickly recognized his sister being knocked to the ground, and as he continued to follow through on his hack when a strangle muffled voice seemed to ring through the air.

It was muffled due to the rain, the storm.

It was a guys voice, and he was screaming, and trailing the echo of his scream came two unmistakable sounds of gunfire. Everything seemed to stop. Lenny had finished with his hack, and wasn't even sure if he cut the girl or not with his hatchet. It was as if time had stopped.

If I was just shot, thank you god for taking away the pain

Lenny looked down. No blood on him. He felt clean. His eyes darted to his sister. She was still on the ground. She looked ok. His eyes darted to the girl who dared hit his sister in front of him. Did the gunshots hit her? Were they meant for her? Did he cut her?

The rain continued to fall, and to Lenny at least, it seemed as if the whole jungle stopped moving for the outcome of the encounter.

Anna grinned maliciously as she heard the loud clunk of the end of her lacrosse stick some into contact with Elizabeth's head. The blonde was sent flying to the ground, and Anna couldn't help but stop for a brief moment and revel in her success.

She had disabled one of the twins, and now, Lenny was the only one she had to watch out for. No sooner than the thought ran through her mind, her head immediately snapped back in Lenny's direction.

One moment too late.

As she turned around, she saw Lenny raise his hatchet high into the air and bring it down on her back. Anna didn't have time to fully turn around or even do anything besides let out a shrill scream of agony as his hatchet slid from the base of her neck all the way down her back, causing her body to convulse violently.

In the next instant, Anna's entire body felt like jelly, and she could no longer seem to keep herself on her feet.

Her body started to teeter and she found herself unable to even push her arms out in front of her to keep her from falling. Instead, all she could acknowledge was the excruciating pain her body was currently undergoing.

And then... there was a voice. It was indistinguishable to her, sounding like nothing but a muffled vibration due to the sheer amount of pain overtaking her senses. In the next moment, she heard the sound of two dull gunshots.

They would both miss by a mile. Not only did the rain make it hard to focus on an object, let alone hit it if you were an untrained marksman, but the distance between the two played a factor in the attack.

Even if Will Sigurbjornsson had been an expert marksman, though, his shots would have still missed. Anna's legs gave out from underneath her immediately before the gunshots were made and her body toppled forward into the shallow water of the swamp.

Anna held her breath as her head dipped under the water and a sense of dread and foreboding started to overwhelm the girl as she realized that she couldn't move.

Lenny's hatchet had managed to sever part of her spinal cord and had rendered her almost incapable of movement. Anna soon realized what was happening to her and began to panic. She couldn't move. Even if they left her alone now, she'd surely drown with her head lying under the murky swamp water.

And if they weren't finished yet...

Anna shivered as she thought of what sort of horrible things Lenny, Elizabeth, and whoever was shooting at them might do to her if they realized she couldn't move. Maybe it would be better to just drown. Despite the thought that ran through her head, Anna didn't want to drown.

She didn't want to die. She clenched her eyes shut even tighter and started praying for it to be over... for everything to just go away and for her to wake up at home in her bed and SOTF to have been the product of some horrible nightmare.

Please... please go away. All of this... all of this needs to go away!

The silence ended.

The girl collapsed to the ground. Her head went underwater in a puddle. She wasn't moving. Did he kill her? Did the bullets hit her? No, Lenny knew his hatchet hit her, he didn't see her show any of the signs that a person should make if they get hit with a bullet. Lenny saw that there was a boy in the distance. Who had he shot at? Lenny wasn't sure, and at this moment his adrenaline was pumping, he felt he was king of the world. This girl. Anna. She dared try to pick a fight with him and his sister. She even had the nerve to strike Elizabeth with her lacrosse stick.

She would pay. She was paying.

Lenny had to deal with the shooter, and as he knelt down to check to see Anna's status he shouted at the kid with the gun, "Don't shoot! She's down!"

With that, Lenny lifted her head out of the water, and saw that she was clenching her eyes shut. She was alive. Why wasn't she fighting? Moving? She had put up such a good fight earlier, and now she was just laying here. Something was up.

Elizabeth had smiled when Anna went down. The gunshots shocked her, but she felt calmed by Lenny shouting at the gunmen. Hopefully he was on their side. Elizabeth approached Lenny, and saw that he was looking at Anna. She was still alive, but not fighting. He must have struck her good, took the fight right out of her. Elizabeth spat at the girl, the spit being lost in the rain as it made its way to Anna's face.

Elizabeth said, "You hit me. I can't believe you hit me."

It seemed like only five minutes ago that Lenny was staring into a camera. Stating his intentions to America, to the world. He would put on a show, he would survive, he would do whatever he had to do to keep his sister alive. Elizabeth would get off this island.

Lenny would let no one hurt her, and he felt a growing rage in him. A feeling he hasn't felt since Tabatha made Elizabeth cry those tears. Those tears which resembled so much the storm of rain falling down. Lenny would have never found himself as 'sick' or 'psychotic'. Even now, he wouldn't view himself like that. He wasn't like the killers on TV who got their jollies from cutting up victims. That just wasn't Lenny. Though, right now, he felt a sort of satisfaction. A release almost. It felt so good to cut her. It felt good to have her life in his hands right now.

Lenny smiled and looked at his sister. Anna hit her. She threatened to kill them. So she would pay. That was how things worked. Lenny's eyes darted around. He saw cameras. Lots around. He smiled and leaned down, so his lips were almost touching Anna's ears.

He let out a soft whisper, "Anna darling. You brought this upon yourself. Now I'm going to have to kill you, and you know what the worst part is about this? Your mom is going to be watching as I take your life."

He bolted up and screamed, "Hear that! I'm going to gut her like the little scaly fish she is! Are you watching this Anna's mom!?! Are you!?!"

Elizabeth for the second time in her life, felt scared around Lenny. She had never seen him like this. He was scary. Screaming. She was angry, and she felt like she wanted Anna to die. Though did she? Did she really want to 'gut her like a fish'? Elizabeth didn't think so. She just wanted to go home. To follow Lenny. He promised her he would get her home. Though this didn't feel right. None of this felt right. Elizabeth reached out and touched Lenny on his shoulder.

"Stop!"

He looked her in the eyes. Her hand pulled back from his shoulder. The rain continued to fall and they were soaked. Their hair wet, everything. And they continued to stare at each other. Elizabeth pleaded with Lenny.

"Let's just leave. There's a guy out there with a gun...come on...Lenny..."

Lenny would do anything for his sister. She was his flesh in blood. This feeling however. It felt nice. It felt exhilarating. Though he felt like he needed a release. Just leaving wasn't good enough. He felt like he hated Anna. He felt like he needed to punish her. He wanted to punish her. He looked at his sister, and without smiling said, "I thought you'd want to put her out of her misery."

Elizabeth was about to say something but Lenny quickly rammed the blade of his hatchet into Anna's left leg. He pulled it out, half expecting to see a fountain of blood squirt up with it, but it didn't. He waited for the scream of Anna. Though it never came. He was still holding her up, and he let her fall on the ground, her head away from the puddle this time.

"Why aren't you screaming?" He looked at her, confused. Maybe he hit a nerve? Maybe she was so in shock she couldn't feel pain? Either way, Lenny raised his hatchet again, high in the air, to strike again, this time at her stomach, but Elizabeth shot out and grabbed his arm. This time she screamed.

"No! Lenny! Stop!" Tears started to stream down her eyes. "Let her go! She's not going to hurt us anymore! You did your job, we can go."

At that moment Lenny felt something he's never felt in his entire life. He felt like striking his sister. His very own flesh and blood. His twin. Immediately he felt guilty. He let his hand with the hatchet drop, and he said, "Elizabeth. I'm not done. You can't go home until you're the last one left." With that, he quickly swung his hatchet into Anna's stomach before Elizabeth could stop him. He felt almost a feeling of ecstasy as the blade cut deep into her stomach. He leaned his head back, the rain hitting his face as he smiled.

With his head thrown back, he screamed, "You watching!?! Are you watching now!?! This is what happened when you mess with me and my sister!"

Another surge of anger seemed to take over. And he swung again. And again. And again.

He raised his hatchet up again, but right before he struck another time, he stopped. He looked at her. This wasn't fun. It could be funner. She wasn't feeling any pain. No. He had to do something. He grabbed her left hand and raised it to her face. He took her pinky finger and said, "This little piggy went to the market." With his hatchet, he slowly cut it off.

"Oh, that song was meant for toes wasn't it? Ah well. I'm sure mother goose will forgive me."

He smiled as one by one, he cut off her fingers on her hand. He felt a feeling he never felt before. It felt good. He felt powerful. He felt like not even god could hurt him. Though his sister could.

He felt the sting of her slap on his cheek. He looked at her and shouted, "What are you doing? Why did you hit me?"

Through tears she shouted back, "You're not my brother! You're not the Len I know! Stop it! Why can't you just leave her alone? Why are you torturing her?"

Lenny straddled Anna and raised his hatchet high. It was over her head. He didn't look at his sister and he brought his hatchet down hard on Anna's skull. Elizabeth shouted, "No! What are you doing!?!"

With that question, Lenny slowly raised his head. His wet hair fell forward, covering most of his face. A slow, wicked smile formed across Lenny's lips.

"Dear sister, I'm surviving."

Unfortunately for Anna Vaan, it seemed that her suffering was not over. At least, not yet. Anna gasped, inhaling a mouthful of the murky swamp water as Lenny's hand reached down and jerked her head out from under the water. She coughed and sputtered for a moment in some vain attempt to catch her breath, but Anna still felt as though she was suffocating.

She opened her eyes and stared blearily at the twins that stood before her. Her head was spinning, and she could barely understand the words that Elizabeth uttered toward her before spitting at her. Anna couldn't even tell whether or not the spit connected with her face through the rain tha seemed to keep gushing down from the sky. What she did notice, however, was the sadistic smile that seemed to radiate from Lenny's face.

Please just let it be over... please... please just let me die.

Had Anna realized that she was indeed about to die, perhaps she would have wished for something else. Lenny moved in close to her, whispering in her ear how terrible it would be to have to kill her on camera, where back at home, her parents were probably watching. Much to her surprise, Lenny's head roared back and he began screaming toward the cameras, taunting her mother.

"My mother's dead you asshole!" Anna screamed as some sort of final retribution, "My mother's dead, and so's my sister, just like yours is gonna be at the end of this god damn GAME!"

Anna could barely tell through her blurry vision, but the expression on Elizabeth's face suddenly seemed to change as she watched her brother yell out to no one in particular about how he was going to torture and kill Anna. What surprised her the most, though, was when Elizabeth reached out and grabbed her brother, begging and pleading for him to stop his madness. It was funny watching Elizabeth plead with Lenny to save her life, even though moments before, she had been the one trying to help him take it.

Elizabeth's pleading did nothing except temporarily halt Lenny's madness, however. Seconds later, Anna watched as he swung the blade of his hatchet deep into her leg. It was funny. Anna watched in horror as he did it, but the pain from the wound never came. It was like she couldn't feel anything below her face. In a way, it came as some sort of relief, although the mesmerizing pain that emitted from her entire back was enough to make her beg for death.

And then, he let go.

Anna watched helplessly as her legs once again gave way and she tumbled onto the ground, this time face up. Her eyes turned up toward the sky and she watched as the rain splashed down all around them, soaking herself, Lenny, and Elizabeth. Just a few days ago, they were all classmates. Just a few days ago, everything was fine. And now? Now they were all trying to kill one another so they could go home. Southridge was a big high school, and their graduating class was pretty huge. All but one of them... they would all die. That was how SOTF worked.

She heard Lenny yelling at her in frustration, but she didn't acknowledge him. Instead, she simply lay there, staring up at the dark grey sky above, until Lenny's head came into view. Lenny raised the hatchet high into the air, for what Anna could only assume would be a deathblow, but much to her surprise, Elizabeth's arm shot out and grabbed his before he could bury the hatchet into her stomach. Anna was starting to feel faint from the blood loss, but even now, she could hear Elizabeth begging and pleading for him to spare her.

So much pain... can't move my arms... can't move my legs...

Lenny's hatchet suddenly buried itself into her stomach, but she didn't feel it. Again and again he swung the hatchet, but Anna felt nothing. She simply lay there, fading in and out of consciousness, watching helplessly as streams of red seemed to gush from her body. All of a sudden, he stopped. Anna didn't know or care why. By now, she just wanted it to be over. She wanted the end to come and she wanted to be released from her mutilated shell of a body.

Please... please... just let me die. So much pain... so... much pain.

She watched helplessly as Lenny brought her fingers in front of her face and slowly, meticulously, sawed each one off. Anna couldn't scream. She couldn't cry. She could only lay there and stare at the boy who was slowly dismembering her. By now, she could barely even keep her eyes open, let alone try to focus on what was going on around her. She could hear Elizabeth screaming in the background and hear Lenny's frustrated retaliations, but she couldn't even make out what they were saying anymore.

So... so sleepy. Time to go to sleep now... and when I wake up... when I wake up, it'll all be over.

Anna wouldn't have to wait for her release any longer. Lenny brought his hatchet down once more, this time, into her skull. The dull grey that was starting to overtake her vision suddenly faded into black, and Anna Vaan felt nothing as it did so. That was because Anna Vaan felt nothing anymore.

Gabriel looked down at Will.. "My, you're brave." He wiped the blood from his face. In one swift motion, he brought Will down to the ground with a gigantic strike to the side of his face. The regret Will felt at striking Gabriel in anger was dwarfed by the immense pain he felt. He fell unconcious.

Once again, Will was struck in the face. Not by Gabriel; he was dead. Very dead. Will was shocked to see Christian standing beside him in the rain, now completely awake and aware. "What the FUCK are you doing?" He asked, still not looking in the direction of the murder that was about to take place. His face was pale and offset his intense demeanor.

Will looked over to see that his shots had not hit. Of course they wouldn't have. What was he thinking? It was an a blind, misguided action. Who was he, Gabriel? Fuck. Will took off his glasses, and glanced back at the trio in the Marsh.

"Fuck... The one was attacking them... I thought we could get some all-"

Will was barely finished saying 'allies' before he saw the boy in the group begin to dismember one of the others with a hatchet. This was.. disgusting... Will looked away, then checked the gun. He had four bullets left in the chamber. He was safe from these fuckers... Talk about horrible fucking timing... talk about a horrible group of people to try and make friends with. The one was clearly insane, his friend powerless to stop him, and the other girl was in the process of dying at that moment.

Will turned to Christian. "I'm sorry. I'm just... trying to get us out of here alive. You can't trust anyone on this island... Apparantly, not even me. If I..."

"Will... Don't think about it. C'mon. We can't afford to take any longer."

Will stared at the girl, now dead, in the marsh.

"Will, stop dawdling and help me."

Good Luck! Image

"Yeah. Let's go."

She was dead.

Anna Vaan was dead.

Deceased.

Passed away.

Dead.

Lenny looked at the body, curious. He felt strange. He felt different, yet at the same time, not different at all. It had happened so easily. So fast. She was dead. He was alive. He had killed her. He had enjoyed killing her. Was that disturbing? Was that bad? He was fighting for his life was he not? He was trying to survive was he not? By simple math, by simple statistics, you could easily reason that by killing you increased your chances of surviving. That was the goal of this game. To survive.

Lenny looked at his sister. Elizabeth. She was now in the fetal position. She had cried. Lenny couldn't figure out why she had cried. He was protecting her. He wanted to see her win. To live. He would devote his life to making sure she got off this island. Anna attacked them. Elizabeth had been eager in the beginning. So why did she cry? Lenny couldn't figure it out.

He removed his hatchet from Anna's head and placed the handle in the back of his jeans, tucking his shirt over it to hide it once again. He felt calm. He felt relief. No anger, no hatred, no fear, he felt ok being here. He had scanned through the storm for the boy with the gun. He was nowhere to be seen. That meant one of two things. He had left, or he was getting in position to take Lenny and Elizabeth out.

Which meant he needed to leave soon. Now. Though, Lenny didn't want to move. He felt like he accomplished something. This feeling, he loved it. Though his sister, he had to protect her. He had to make sure she was safe. Lenny stood up and scanned the area. The storm made it hard to see, hard to think, yet Lenny felt like he had the clearest mind he ever had.

Elizabeth looked up at her brother. Her twin brother. Her murderer brother. She didn't know what to think anymore. She had been willing to kill Anna. Though everything changed when reality hit. Elizabeth shared a class with Anna once. Now she was dead. Just lying there. She couldn't believe it. Elizabeth wanted to go home. She wanted to get off this island.

She didn't know what to say to Lenny. He tortured that girl. It was completely unnessessary. He could have gave her one clean hit at the neck. Anything except what he did. He was no better than Tabatha.

Tabatha.

Their nanny.

He was just like her.

Lenny held his hand out and said, "Come on. We got to go. The kid with the gun could be around. We need to get out of here."

Elizabeth stood up on her own, refusing to take his hand. "You're no better than Tabatha Len." Lenny said, "I'm nothing like her. Now come on."

Elizabeth just looked at her brother. She still felt safe around him. She knew he would never hurt her, and he would die protecting her. Though he wasn't the same boy that he was a week again. Things had changed.

Without saying anything, the twins Lenny and Elizabeth Priestly left the scene of Anna Vaan's murder and continued into the storm.

((Lenny and Elizabeth continued elsewhere))
