Oh, the interesting people one saw in the food court.

Aston chewed her fries thoughtfully as she watched young couples lean across their respective tables, inches away from each other's faces. She looked over at the married couples who tried in vain to keep their small children under control.

From the youthful, passionate couples to the weary, dispassionate ones. And back again.

She wondered what possessed people to get into those kinds of things. She'd never felt that way about anyone. Her brother Kyle had said it was because she loved herself too much to share that love with anyone else. He'd meant for the statement to sting, but Aston could sort of see the truth within it. Then again, her brother was a complete fool who handed his heart to any girl who showed the slightest bit of interest in him, and then acted surprised when they dumped him for someone else. He didn't seem to know much more about love than she did, so who was he to lecture her?

Aston looked around and frowned at the people who stared. She wanted to sit alone. What was so wrong with that, huh?
