One for the road

Aww, twue wuv

Events and happenings began influencing who our characters are long before the SOTF ACT was even a glimmer in someone's eye. Have an interesting memory of your character's to share? Want to show the world why they are the way they are? Even if you just want to establish why they like comic books, this is the place to do it!

One for the road

The days were cooling, becoming more and more brisk as time wove by. The sun, though, fought on against the cold adversary, its steadfast nature doing its best to beat awa the growing cold. For now it was warm enough to have the sun drench Elaine's cheeks, nice but a little harsher on her eyes than she'd have liked.

Elaine skipped along for a bit, toward the park bench she asked the cute boy to meet her at. The dark green skirt swayed a bit in the soft breeze, and Elaine was feeling happy. She hadn't been here a month and she was already going on her first date! The light basket in her arms seemed a bit heavier as she reached the bench, but she set it down quickly, the weight lifted from her hands and seemingly from her soul as well.

Elaine stretched her arms up and up, arching them wide and feeling one of her shoulders pop comfortably. The wind just felt so good, made her feel so alive! Elaine began to spin a bit, letting the wind twirl her slowly, a small smile playing on her lips. Her newly dyed hair, a cool red that piqued her interest, flopped a bit at shoulder-length, half of it playing in her face over her half open eyes. Finally she sat down and relaxed in the shade of the large tree behind the bench.

She looked left and right for a second, a wave of uneasiness pushing the back of her mind slowly, until she looked up at the large clocktower in the center. A full 10 minutes early, it stated. Elaine had time, nothing to worry about. Everything was going great.

Rein Bumgarner look at his watch again.

SHIT! If I don't hurry up I'm going to be late!

The young German had competently forgotten about the date that a young girl had ask him last week. He remembered it all too clearly. He was simply talking with Mel and Gary about there daily lives when the girl, Elaine was her name if he remember correctly, came up to him and ask if he wanted to go out. This had caught him in complete surprise.

Rein only knew Elaine a little. He had talk to her a few times but that was about it. He never knew she grew a crush on him or anything! He remember looking a bit wide eye are the question and he darted at Mel and Gary for advice. Gary himself was a bit shock for whatever reason and wasn't able to give Rein any help while Mel simply nudge him on. With this he was simply going to turn her down. He didn't even knew the girl why should he got out with her? But when he went back to look at her eyes and he saw some much hope in it that he knew he was defeated and accepted.

Now he had completely forgotten about her and was running against the time. He had dress with normal jeans and a long green sleeve shirt to hide the resent cut on his left elbow. He had recently tried a stunt with his bike which ended up him falling and landing his elbow on a sharp rock. The pain was just plain exciting for Rein and he laughed with joy when he felt it. Gary was not so thrill when he saw it.

Shrugging off his thoughts he look at his watch a third time and notice he was running two minutes late. He knew it wasn't that bad but he felt guilty for forgetting about her. He finally found the meeting spot and touch his hair and was relief to know that they were still proper and neat. Looking around he finally saw Elaine sitting in the shade under a large tree right behind the bench. With this he thought on how he should come in. He decided since this wouldn't note be too serious of a date he would simply just walk up and say hello.

With this Rein calm his heart and walk towards Elaine and waved

"Hello Elaine!" he called out with a German accent. His parents mostly spoke German when there alone so Rein had never lost his accent from Germany.

Elaine let her mind wander, tugging at a tendril of red hair while she imaged how the evening might go. It wasn't so hard, the waiting. The grass felt good, the breeze was soft, and Elaine was comfortable. She had brought the quaint old-style basket filled with store-bought foriegn foods that looked interesting, but she wasn't hungry yet. Every few minutes she'd look up toward the clocktower, only this time instead of seeing its aged face there was Rein. Ealine nearly jumped to her feet in surprise as he spoke up, his vioce rough sounding from the accent. "Rein!"

She was visibly smiling again. He showed up! "You showed up!" This town was great, Rein and his friends were cool people, and he was so cute and now Elaine was on a date with him! "Oh!" she excalimed, running around and lifting up the basket. "I thought maybe we could walk around for a bit and eat some food." A small nervous feeling tried to surface in her mind, but she quickjly pushed it away by opening her mouth. "Does it sound fun?"

He look at Elaine for a moment then the basket and back at Elaine. Rein silently nodded in approval of her hair and clothing. It fitted her pretty nicely he thought. He wonder if she changed her hair every second week. She seemed to being doing that a lot lately. Rein added to himself that it can't be good for her hair but he wouldn't bother telling her that. He just met her and shouldn't have a opinion with what she does as long as she's hurting no one. With this he then wonder about her question quickly and wonder. A walk then a picnic? Sounded so... Calm and safe. Not something Rein enjoyed. To add he's was doing it with this new girl who he just met but he shrug his negative thoughts away. He should be more open about this and accept her offer, actually he should be much more positive, it was a date after all.

He smiled back at Elaine and spoke up

"Sure dat sounts fun. It will allovs us to get to know each and oder" He said with his accent as always. It would be a good opportunity to get to know her. "Might I ask vhat in de basket or is it a surprise for me later?" He ask slightly bending over as if to see what inside the basket. With that he grin and gave her a wink. Just be open and positive he thought to himself.

This could be fun in the end.
