We All Start Somewhere

B107 Start - TOPIC CLOSED

The north-most river splits into a smaller stream forming the swamp. The area is a mixture of smaller pools of muddy water that ranges from ankle to thigh-high depth. The water is separated by portions of muddy land scattered with low ferns and weeds. Students won't find much comfort in the land, though, as it too is difficult and uncomfortable to easily traverse, being home to what seem like endless insects and several species of small reptiles. But who knows...perhaps its inhospitable atmosphere could provide cover from those seeking new victims.

B107 - Rizzo Vitoria - Start

Rizzo woke with a start, his eyes glancing around and his ears straining for a sound. Any sound.

Survival Of The Fittest. He was on that show. It only made sense that his butt was wet. He was in - what? A swamp? He stood up, sliding his back up the ragged tree he was leaning against in his slumber.

His gaze went over all of his surroundings, stopping when he saw the bag - the day pack? Was it his? It was on a fallen log, so kept dry. For now... From what he'd seen on YouTube and DailyMotion (Youtube took the clips down within a day usually), the bag wouldn't stay dry for long. His pants could testify to that. And his sneakers.

He grimaced - his new shoes were wet... He looked down at the (over his) ankle-deep water he was stood in, verifying that they were ruined. He sighed and shook his head, looking back at the day pack. He was getting a headache and needed water.

He unzipped the day pack and frowned - there was a huge thing in there. He removed it and frowned - why did he have a boom-box with a tape-deck?

"My 'weapon'...?" he asked nobody - remembering the dildo-brush shiv slide. He shrugged, remaining strangely calm about this whole ordeal. He put it next to the bag and looked inside again finding bread, crackers and water as provisions. His bag with clothes and - not his laptop - was in there, too. And his caffeine pills were missing, too. The entire pack.

He took a bottle of water and opened it, his stomach starting to feel upset. He swallowed and took a few steady breaths as he raised the bottle to his lips. He had a small mouthful and swilled it around his anesthesia-dry mouth before swallowing. His headache was getting worse - as was the sick feeling in his stomach. He took a few more deep breaths to try and steady himself.

"Fuck..." he muttered, only having time to turn away from his daypack before he ejected his stomach-contents into the water.

The force of him vomiting sent him to his knees, his body shivering when he finished, gasping for air. His hands were on the log next to him, the bottle that was in his hand now floating in the swamp.

"Fuck...!" he gasped, still feeling ill - and now his joints were starting to ache. "Fucking fuck... They poisoned the water?!"

G065 - Michelle O'Cain - Start

Michelle couldn't quite grasp the situation right away. Having just woken up to find herself lying on some damp surface right beside murky water would probably do that to someone who was use to finding themselves awake in some sort of bed.

Where am I?

She sat there looking around to her surroundings while she slowly starting to grasp where she was. Some sort of swamp no doubt. Then she took the time to try to remember what the hell had happen.

Survival of the Fittest. That's what had happen.

Michelle was shock like the rest of the students when she first realize what had happen. The only difference is that she wasn't quite sure how to react. Scare? Angry? Her emotions were all mix up. The only thing she could guess was that she was still in shock of the whole thing cause she felt awfully calm about the situation. Standing up she look around once more. Her bag must of been close by.

There it is. It should have all my supplies and a weapon right?

She finally found it and walk towards it. She drop down on her rear and cross her legs. Her hands reach out and pull the bag on top of her leg as she open the it. Her hands wander through and she took quick notes of what was inside. She finally found her weapon and pull it out.

Crowbaw.

She look at it for a while. It wasn't a gun but it wasn't some kind of joke weapon. It was clearly a lethal weapon. Brutal of course but it would do the job. Now it left only one thing to think about. Doing so she remember a quote from Jet Li himself.

A weapon isn't good or bad, depends on the person who uses it.

So that left her with one option. To fight or not? She understood that this was Survival of the Fittest and only one person can go home. Specifically the person who the last man standing. She close her bag and stood up. She look at the crowbar once more and understood what had to be done. She was going to have to play to win.

Of course... Only kill those who are also threats. The good folks... They deserve their own chance.

With her resolution set she turn around to the swamp. Most people would hate this place. But Michelle wasn't stupid. It provide cover and easily the ability to hide. Only thing she had to do was cover herself in some mud and lie low right? She drop into the murky water and went ahead to cover herself with as much dirt, mud and whatever else she could find. She made sure to cover herself everywhere. Especially her long sleeve pink shirt. That thing was asking for a bullet. Eventually when she look over herself she smile at her work. She was fully covered from head to toe. She spat out a bit of mud then went into her mouth at one point and turn back towards the bag. Being wet was kinda cold but she would tough it out. She had to survive at this point and being wet and cold was better then being dead on the ground.

Next was her bag. With that all said and done she felt that carrying the bad around would cause problems. First of all it would obviously make more noise if she slug it around. To add it didn't quite blend in with the rest of her. She decided to leave it there. Her strategy at this point was to stay in this area and use the swamp's terrain to her advantage. To add anyone stupid enough who didn't have a gun and tried to steal her bag would probably receive a crowbar to the head. Then she heard noise. She spun around trying to find it. She decided to crouch and walk towards it slowly. Only after a few minutes did she found the source of it. Some kid vomiting.

And then it all came down on her. This was her chance to kill someone. She had the chance to go ahead and kill some student that went to her school. To get one step closer to winning Survival of the Fittest. This was what was really happening. She was going to have to kill someone.

Fear started to take over. Her hand started to tremble. This was serious. She never took anything serious in life before. But she was really in a life and death situation. She was actually going to have to kill someone. The thought haunted her right away. Killing? Other people just like her? No she couldn't do it. No she could but she didn't want to. What was she suppose to do? Talk to him? Charge him? Her mind was scrambling to get some sort of plan. Every second felt slower then the last. Her heart was beating faster than ever. She stared at her prey wondering what to do. Eventually she found a answer.

"You there... What your name?" She call out gently. Trying to avoid as much noise as possible. She only wanted to get the sick boy's attention. The question was now is what to do with him. Kill him? The muddy girl held on tightly to her crowbar. Yes in the end she knew she would have to kill. The question was when would she have to do it? And who?

Rizzo groaned as his muscles started to relax, though the acrid taste and smell of what he just did is still right there.

"You there... What your name?

Rizzo jumped and turned, almost in one motion, in his haste to see who's speaking to him.

"W-w-..." he stammered, his look of shock changing into one of confusion. Was she covered in dirt? If not, he wanted to stay the hell away from her. A crazy person is not something he wanted to hang around with. Though from what he'd seen, they would all go crazy in one form or another.

"Rizzo..." he tells her, managing to remember her question. "I... Are you covered in fucking mud?"

His stomach churned and threatened to make him throw up again, but seemed to decide against it. What the hell was in the water? He only had a little of it... And why poison the very thing keeping them alive for entertainment?

'And what the hell is she covered in mud for?!' he wondered silently. He couldn't even tell her skin colour.

B066 Theo Behr Start

This was bad. Very bad. He should have known that something like this could happen. But no. Doctor Brock had convinced him that he needed to go on this trip. That it would make him socialise with everybody. Hah!

He'd already taken stock of the situation. The best thing was to lie low, assess any situation before he got involved. Try and figure out who was playing, who wasn't. He hadn't decided what he was going to do. Part of it was that his head was still fuzzy. He was finding it difficult to make any real decisions. Must be a combination of whatever he'd been drugged with, and his own medication.

His medication, dammit. He rummaged through his bag. Thankfully, most of his emergency equipment was still there. There were more supplies, a full first aid kit, water, a rubber mask of Richard Nixon, and there, his meds. All labelled with his full prescription details. Anti-Anxiety, Anti-Depression, Anti-Thought! He needed...

Theo paused. Was this really the best way to do this? His pills, they kept him from getting too out of control. Then again, out of control was maybe what he needed to be. Anything that would give him an edge. He grabbed the bottles containing his medication and threw them into the swamp water.

No turning back now. Theo began to assess the area he was in. Some kind of swamp. Figures. He moved cautiously along the side of the water, making sure of his footing. No need to go and die in a stupid accident. He kept low, to maintain both his balance and some cover from the surrounding undergrowth.

The main problem was that he had no clear plan at the moment, nothing that he could do. He considered marking the trees, showing what he had already explored, but decided against it. No sense letting others know he was there. As he wondered about moving away from the edge of the water, deeper into the undergrowth, to see if there was a better place to survey the area from, he heard a moaning coming from the left.

There was a boy, a classmate, he assumed, writhing on the grass by the waters edge. He couldn't quite make out who it was, but could see that the boy was unlikely to prove a threat. Assuming that he wasn't faking. Maybe he should take some precautions. He was about to yell out to the prone figure when another voice did so.

A mud caked girl appeared, and at least she didn't appear to be a threat. Still, she was armed with a crowbar. It looked a decent weapon, but Theo figured she didn't know how to use it. Then again, what was there to know? Swing it until something breaks. That changed things. Her presence meant that assaulting the boy was out of the question. At least for the moment. He would have to find another way to work here.

He stepped out, backpack on his back, hands open and up. "Don't hurt me. Please. I- I know some first aid. Can I help?"

B090: START

Fuck, he hated nature.

Orpheus Campbell had woken up with a cricket in his mouth. He had the unfortunate trait of sleeping with his mouth open, so there that was. But when waking up in a swamp with no idea how you got there was the best part of your day . . . you knew you were going to have a God-awful day. It was damp, muddy, and the creatures were grating on his last nerve. Oh yeah, and he was in a competition with the rest of his senior class, last man standing. No comfort in that. He wasn't gonna see his family again. He wasn't gonna see a working kitchen again. And he wasn't going to be able to help himself or Josée (and where was she?) with a pink Keytar. Excuse him, a hot pink Keytar.

He'd be sure to send Danya a fruitcake.

OC felt like he'd been walking for days. He had to get out of this swamp, find Josée, and keep her ass from being killed dead. She ran her mouth way too much to be so tiny. She had too many enemies to be so . . .

No.

No, he was not looking at a bog-monster. A B-movie bog monster at that. They couldn't have been on this island for that long. He narrowed his eyes at the thing, which further inspection revealed to be female. He turned to the guy he had ended up standing directly next to.

"You know this chick?"

God damn it

This was not the situation she wanted to be in. She only spoke to the boy due to confusion. Now she had three individuals starring at her. Most of all at this point she look like the crazy one. The question was what to do at this point. Confrontation would just be stupid at this point. While she knew she could take on the sick boy and the first-aid guy but the third one was a giant. Michelle might of been able to take him on with her weapon but it could go either way. There was really no point in risking it. She should instead look at it the other way. Three potential allies to watch her back. At least as long as it was convenient but first off she should at least answer everyone questions.

"Yes I'm cover in mud." She answer calmly. She then turn her head towards the other two boys. "And yes actually Rizzo." She started and pointed at the sick boy with her crowbar. "Seems to have his lunch coming out. I'm not sure what you can do but it be nice if you could help him." She finish. Great at least someone had some sort of minimal medical skills. She look at all three boys and wonder what to do next. All three didn't seem hostile or armed. Rizzo seem next to useless at this point, medical boy was obviously useful for now and giant boy could be useful if he was arm with something. She could potentially use all three of them. It was worth a shot.

"Look guys... I'm not sure what your thinking about right now but... Look just listen alright? Were playing Survival of the Fittest. I'm not sure where you stand on it but I'll be honest. Some kids will try to kill us. We are going to have to kill to survive. At best we should keep it to self-defense. Or you can drop on the ground and cry about it until someone kills you." She stop and took a moment to look at them with her eyes. Taking a breath she went ahead to finish her smalls speech.

"So listen up alright? I want to get to the end. I honestly do. But I don't want to do it by killing students. I prefer just waiting it out as other people kill one and other. If I have to I'll fight. I'm train in fencing which might not do much but it is better than nothing. To add it also seems that I'm the only one with a weapon unless you guys are stupid enough to walk around without your weapon in hand. So here my preposition. Let's work together. I have a weapon, some martial skills and at this point a clearer state of mind of what to do. Look we might as well stay together and try to get to the end and survive. So at least one of us can go home. So what do you guys say? Four way alliance?" She ask. Her knees started to tremble at this point. That speech was larger then she expected. She never talk this much at home. Hell she was never this proactive. What was it that was causing her to be so motivated? Was it the fact that was going to die in the next few days? Was it because she was just ready to kill someone? Or was it because she finally had enter her dreams as a leader. Just like those military books. She was the general. These were her soldiers.

Yeah right. Of course it was better than nothing. She sat down a bit shaken by the event. She was calm but slightly uneasy. She also thought she should mention why she was cover in mud.

"Oh yeah for your information this mud is the closest thing I have to camouflage. You guys can run around with bright colors but I suggest you follow suit. Blending in with the earth might help out with this survival business. Cause I'm sure as hell not walking around in a bright pink shirt saying hey look at me! I'm a easy target!" She finish while waving her arms around in a comedic fashion.

"Name's Michelle by the way. What's everyone name here?"

Rizzo was still groggy from throwing up and his headache, but he was sure these two new guys appeared out of nowhere. Especially that second one. And he was certain he was the shortest there, even without being damp from the toes up.

"Yes I'm cover in mud. And yes actually Rizzo. Seems to have his lunch coming out. I'm not sure what you can do but it be nice if you could help him."

Rizzo blinked - this girl was crazy, but she took charge. And at least she was pointing the new kid in the right direction. He wiped his mouth with the too-long sleeve of his brown and white shirt, feeling confident he wasn't going to be sick again. For now. He listened to her give her speech, worthy of any movie President when fighting off alien hordes.

"So what do you guys say? Four way

Rizzo's eye's lit up at that.

alliance?"

He contained a blush. Okay, he was ill - but he was still a teenager with sex on the mind. Janet, mostly, but even mud-girl would do right now. She probably didn't have mud in her panties, at least. And a four-way would have been an awesome final-screw, even if it was involving two other guys. Ah well...

"Cause I'm sure as hell not walking around in a bright pink shirt saying hey look at me! I'm a easy target!"

He chuckled at her actions, despite the growing headache and boneache. Whatever was making him feel this way sucked. It sucked ass on a grand scale. If he stayed ill and managed to find Janet, he might appear unattractive. Even if she hadn't found her 'boyfriend' by then. He knew she was just teasing him with that, wanting him to beg for her...

"Name's Michelle by the way. What's everyone name here?"

Rizzo looked at the other two at that, his mind coming back to the current situation.

"Uhh, I'm Rizzo." he tells them, as if they didn't hear Michelle when she said his name. His voice is a little sore and the metal collar around his neck didn't help his discomfort.

Had he completely missed the fact that the guy, Rizzo, was writhing around on the ground? Heh, tunnel vision getting the best of him again. And then the spazzy-looking guy came. He actually looked worse for the wear then the one on the ground, if that was possible. But he wasn't a threat, and he said he had first-aid skills, which was more than the other two were offering. Well, that Michelle girl was offering speeches and a crowbar. He could work with that crowbar. For a second, he thought about just taking it and running. But that would be a bitch move, and Orpheus was no bitch.

Seriously though, did chick think this was 300? He could understand her need to "rally the troops" but she had a huge problem. She didn't believe her own hype. One thing about Josée's crazy self, she believed her own bullshit. He could hear her now.

Campbell, I don't give a damn if you got a rubberband as a weapon. We are better than these people and we are going home. Understand?

And then she would give him this look. Sometimes he could swear that girl was possessed. Why did he always run into all these bossy chicks anyway?

He took the keytar out of his bag and held it out. "My name's Orpheus, but calling me OC will just make it easier on all of us. I'm down with an alliance, but l'm looking for someone. I'm not planning on dying until she's safe (not that he knew how he'd pull that one off) so don't expect me to take a bullet for any of you. No offense or anything. And my weapon sucks so I couldn't pull any heroics even if I wanted to." He frowned.

"Are we supposed to say "Go Team" or something now?"

Great. Another person to deal with. Theo tried to keep the distractions to one side as he approached Rizzo on the ground. Still, the absurdly named Orpheus seemed the biggest threat at the moment. Definitely somebody to be wary of. That keytar could bludgeon somebody as well. "I recognise her from the school, OC, but we n-never really spoke."

Not that Michelle seemed to be any more trustworthy than OC. The girl, caked in mud, seemed to have declared herself leader simply by way of having a weapon. Not that Theo was in any position to argue. Sooner or later, everybody would have to sleep. He could figure out what he would do at that point. In the meantime, he'd be as well sticking with these people. Alone, unarmed, he knew that he stood no chance at all.

"Th-Theo" He tried to keep himself calm, cool. Show that he was an asset. He doubted it was working. He could see both of them silently marking him as an easy kill. "No decent weapon. I got a N-Nixon mask. So, yeah. I'll work with you guys. But I wouldn't recommend covering ourselves in this d-dirt until we see what's wrong with Rizzo here."

He turned back towards Rizzo, who seemed much improved following his retching episode, and knelt down beside him. He gently prodded at his stomach, trying to feel for any tenderness, if the captors had mistreated him when he was dumped. "The good news is there seem to be n-no internal injuries. The b-b-bad news is that means that it's most likely some kind of food p-poisoning, or an infection. Virus, maybe. Or an allergic reaction. At any rate, there's v-very little I can do. Keep him comfortable; let it run its course. K-keep him hydrated, if we can." He turned and spoke to his patient directly. "How do you feel? Good enough to move?"

Michelle had a slight feeling of relief go over her as all three boys confirm to work with her. Of course OC made sure to point out the fact he was out to save someone else. Michelle understood where he was coming from and just nodded to his comment. He had a goal and he seemed set to finish it. At this point she felt she could trust him at least for now. Next was Rizzo who obviously seemed to be getting worst. At least he chuckled at her failed attempt of a joke. She made a note that even do the boy was sick he also seemed generally trustworthy.

Then there was Theo. She didn't like him at all. It was clear in her mind that he was scared. She was worried that the kid might snap at any moment. For now his skills seem helpful but she would prefer people with a strong mind than a state of constant fear. Of course she couldn't blame him as seeing where they were. At this point she wasn't going to let her guard down with him around. Apart from that it was time to answer everyone comments

"Well thanks Theo. Just keep watch over him. Orpheus who's the girl you're looking for? After Rizzo get's better we can set out to find her. Of course you could just leave now if you like. I'm not going to try and stop you. Also I'm just going to get my bag so I'll return in a few minutes." She announces and made a quick turn around to go get her bag. Now the only question was what to do while waiting for Rizzo to get better. If the boy stays sick they would need to find a place to hide to let him recover. She also needed a way to learn how trustworthy Theo was.

After a few minutes she found her bag again. She grabbed it and toss it over her shoulders and she turn around to make her way back to the group.

Rizzo allowed his fellow student to examine him, part of him wondering if this guy really knew anything, or if he was just screwing with them.

"How do you feel? Good enough to move?"

Before he could answer, Michelle went into another speech. That would get annoying quickly...

"Also I'm just going to get my bag so I'll return in a few minutes."

Rizzo managed to stand up, though his stomach muscles hurt - not that there was any muscle that didn't hurt right now. He zipped up his bag, leaving the empty bottle in the shallow water. He wanted to find another water source - not that it would be easy if they were in a swamp.

"So..." he shrugged when the sole female of the group returned. "Go team?"

He didn't exactly know where they would go now. It made sense to stay here, where they were harder to find by people with guns. He jiggled the collar on his neck, trying to get rid of the band of sweat that was causing it to chafe. He was certain these three had already decided they would kill him once he lost his use as a human shield. The only way he would survive would be to play the game - kill them before they could kill him.

It seemed he was gonna stick with these people for a while. Hopefully they weren't planning on staying in this wack-ass swamp for long. It was noisy, it was uncomfortable, it was everywhere he didn't want to be. Plus none of these people seemed like someone he would want to hang around for any length of time. Michelle was bossy (and failed at it), Theo was making him nervous, and Rizzo was honestly dead weight. And tampering with his . . .

"Would you cut that shit out? You must want to get your head blown off." he said, frowning. This dumbass would get them all killed before they made two steps in any direction. He did appreciate the "go team" thing though. Reminded him of the team, he wondered were those fuckers were anyway. Heh, better off than him and his keytar.

"Look, we need to get out of here. This swamp can't be good for Rizzo, and it's not a safe place for us to be either. Unless we can defend ourselves with sticks, it's an easy place for an ambush."

Look ma, I'm telling someone else what to do for a change.

Already the group was arguing. Theo definitely didn't trust any of them, they all seemed on edge. Still, looking at the group as a whole, he decided that he'd rather listen to OC than to Michelle. At least he hadn't come in, declared himself leader and tried to start ordering everybody around. He took advantage of Michelle's brief absence to talk to the others.

He kept his voice low as he spoke. "OK. I'm with OC. We n-need to get out of here. I'm not c-comfortable following Michelle, but don't see her following any of us. Except m-maybe y-you, OC. At any rate, I trust you over her." There, he'd put it out. He hoped that she'd been far enough away that she hadn't heard anything.

When she returned, he would keep his eyes on her, try to see if her behaviour had noticeably changed. He waited until the others had all discussed the plan. "I don't want to leave Rizzo to die." Part of him was worried that he seemed to be taking responsibility for the sick boy. If anything happened to him, where would that leave him?

"I'm sure that between us we can support him if we need to. What I want to know is where we go. I've b-been round a bit of the swamp, there's nowhere better by the water line. Have any of you guys seen anything? Some k-kind of building? Or just under better cover?"

He hoped that he was making sense, that nobody thought he was trying to challenge them. Essentially, he hoped that he was contributing enough to be seen as an advantage for the moment, enough so that they wouldn't turn on him any time soon.

Michelle was near her group when she suddenly decided to stop.

Why am I helping them?

It's true she had plan to play the game with such a large group with one member who she didn't trust... Why should she stay here with them? What was the advantage? There was a sick boy, some kid she didn't trust and a giant who seem ready to leave her at any moment. Why should she place her trust in them? Obviously if they had the chance she wouldn't be surprise if they just left her or worst. Like hell she would let that happen.

At this point she didn't feel like returning to the group. She turn around, and went the opposite direction of the group. Entering a light jog she hope to gain quite a distance away from them. She had hope to stay in the swamp to ambush some folks but those three seem terrified of such plan. She felt slightly bad for leaving Rizzo behind but the other two she couldn't care less. At this point she just moved on and hope to find something better.

"OK. I'm with OC. We n-need to get out of here. I'm not c-comfortable following Michelle, but don't see her following any of us. Except m-maybe y-you, OC. At any rate, I trust you over her."

Rizzo didn't say anything - he wasn't in a position to challenge whoever was going to lead this sorry group.

"I don't want to leave Rizzo to die."

That made him feel a lot better. Figuratively. In actuality, he was feeling worse every second. Was there any asprin in these first aid kits...?

"I'm sure that between us we can support him if we need to. What I want to know is where we go. I've b-been round a bit of the swamp, there's nowhere better by the water line. Have any of you guys seen anything? Some k-kind of building? Or just under better cover?"

"I haven't seen anything apart from this area..." Rizzo told them both. "I woke up and started throwing up almost as soon as I drank some of my water..."

He looked around - how far was Michelle's bag?

"But maybe there's something just outside the swamp." he suggested. "I dunno how big this place is though..."

He pushed himself up into a crouch, taking a few deep breaths before standing. He was stooped over slightly and still held on to the nearest tree for support.

"I can walk." he told them. "As soon as Michelle gets back, we should go."
