Coming Home

Reiko oneshot

The logging road leading from the sawmill to the woods separates both halves of the felled forest. It shows a lot of recent use, with tracks from the logging trucks grooved into dirt. In the middle of the road is one of the logging trucks, still with its last load of cargo. The keys are nowhere to be found in or around the truck. Though it won't be moving, the truck provides the closest amount of cover for at least a mile radius.

She was alone again.

After spending a blissful 24 hours with her girlfriend, she was all by herself once more. By now, Sarah and Bridget would be on those boats, long gone from this island and on to safety. She was still there though. The guard had said no, that she was condemned to stay on this island for her actions. It stung a little bit, but she didn't blame them. They wanted to stop the killing. That was fine by her. Except now, now Reiko had even more motivation.

Reika was dead. Paige, Amber, Ben, Jacob.... Carol. All gone. They weren't going home. But Sarah was still alive. Sarah was safe. And Reiko was determined to see her again. Nothing was going to get in her way any more. She was ready for a fight, to take down every last fucker left on this island for similar reasons to her.

The girl arrived back at the location where they had first heard the announcement. She pulled the bag out of it's hiding place. Not her bag. Sarah's bag. Contained within, all their left over rations. Her gun. Sarah's rifle. Bridget's nail board. She pulled out her pistol, removing the magazine and checking it. Only three rounds left. Reiko slammed the magazine back into the pistol, making sure the safety was on before placing it back into her back pocket. She then removed the nail board. The grip was a little large on her hands, but thankfully she was still able to grasp it firmly in one hand. The rifle would stay in the bag. It would be too conspicuous.

Reiko hoisted the bag onto her shoulder. It was a little heavy, but nothing she couldn't manage. She took one last look in the direction of the beach, before walking away. The next few days weren't going to be pretty. But then again, Reiko never liked doing things the easy way.
